For those who do not know, Lee Jung Jae has always been a big name, very famous, and respected actor in Korea. He rarely goes on variety shows and it’s rare to see him on TV interviews as well. It’s a big deal that he accepted to be a part of this show too. Thank you for accepting him with positivity and leaving beautiful words and comments.

Also, in English when the korean surname "Lee" is used it's actually an anglicization ( is that a word? ) of the surname "Yi" 이 which sounds more like "E" than anything. North koreans do have the surname Rhee but it isn't common.

      @@benjaminbankwin5690 I believe you meant "Romanization". (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romanization_of_Korean)
To add on, S.Korea (ROK) uses Revised Romanization of Korean (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revised_Romanization_of_Korean ) while N.Korea (DPRK) uses McCune-Reischauer (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McCune%E2%80%93Reischauer ). as for "loan words", S.Korea uses Americanized versions where N.Korea breaks it down to a more "traditional" korean or use Chinese or Russian translations (at least from what I heard from the defectors who decided to go on YT shows/ videos showcasing the differences)

This is a very SMALL thing, but I can't help noticing the first thing he says "thank you for having me, and my translator, Hailey."
Just goes to show how humble, thoughtful, and warm of a person he is. It's the little things, like how you treat waiting staff, how you talk to your stunt doubles, etc, that really set apart "role model worthy stars" and fad celebrities that fizzle out. I hope Lee Jungjae meets even MORE success in the international film/tv industry cause I think he's definitely a worthy role model! In fact, some from hollywood could probably take notes.

The media instigates and frames an image. I've seen several violent and brutal dramas and movies. What did I see? Some Western media's evaluation of the standard of the squid game is contradictory and double. Is it just because of the discomfort of the global popularity of English-speaking dramas?

My sister went to Seoul and said she's never felt so safe in a big city, no one made her feel unsafe even though she was a woman all alone in a foreign country. Also Koreans dont steal other people's belongings at cafes, restaurants, subways etc. I mean it is partly because there are CCTVs everywhere but i think them not stealing goes beyond that. I think it has something to do with their culture. I lost both my wallet and cellphone once when I was in Seoul and i got those back the next day. Whoever picked them up dropped them at a police station and a police officer called me to pick them up the next day. The cash was still there in my wallet

He also pronounced Lee Jung-jae's name correctly! I'm pretty sure he also knew exactly what the dalgona game was and intentionally gave Lee Jung-jae the easy one and himself the hard one so that he could purposefully lose and make the guest feel at ease and also not drag out the interview by actually trying to succeed with the umbrella. I agree with Stephen, that the violence is cartoonish...it's the degradation of the characters (in and outside the game) that is terrifying.
