Ahhhh, the age old struggle between want and need! I have always wanted to keep my guns "as built". My thought would be to purchase a separate slide milled to take the optic and keep the original slide stock so you have the best of both worlds. Either way Dan, you win.
From a collecting / value standpoint the trade is the way to go. Always trade up.

My heart sank when you pulled out that Beretta. DON'T get rid of that bad boy!! That being said, I'd make the trade.
I like the blue better and don't need red dots on everything. I would stick with what you have.

Make the trade. It sounds like Colt is ruining CZ instead of CZ fixing Colt. Who knows when you’ll get another chance to get the CZ you want.
I just picked up a cz shadow 2 for $1000. Its an excellent handgun but more obtainable. I say do the trade. I think its a good deal in my opinion. Good luck hope you go through with it.
I would trade. Two reasons, 1) I was at CZ Custom several weeks ago and tried the trigger on the TS2 Orange in 40. Outstanding!!!!
2) after watching your video I checked their price on the shadow 2 optic ready (1300). Make the trade, then you could possibly get the S2 you want for less than you'd have in the one currently in your safe.
Make the trade. The factory milled pistol is keeping its value. If you put $400 into your pistol, it will not increase in value by $400
I love CZ. I'd do whatever to acquire which ever CZ model appleade to me. The Shadow 2 is amazing. However, the TS2 Orange is a beautiful classic keep-sake. Trade, with the Benjamins, (but tell your bud you want "the right of first refusal" if he ever wants to divest of the/your Shadow 2). Great vid, thanks. Good luck!!

I like the trade for the following:
1. Your getting a good pistol
2. It's rare.
3. Doing the deal would be fun (you only live once)
Absolutely, go for it. I see way more positives than negatives. The orange handle nay also go up in value.
I have both of these and actually took both to the range today. They are both really great to fire. I would not trade my Shadow 2 or my TS2 Orange. You have a tough one here. I will keep both always. Sorry I wasn't much help. Both are great shooters.
I'd go for the trade, rather than milling the slide on the Shadow. And the side mount for the optic is a plus.

Mill your Shadow…your guns stay yours…a $400 upgrade is no biggie
I would like to see the new Shadow 2 Compact in .40, especially if I am going to carry that version. I waited until I could get the S2 with the factory plate...was fortunate to find a good deal. For your deal...get the pew tool which makes you most happy...like you said, the S2 is readily available...but you may want to do it soon before Colt runs CZ into the ground and it looks like it is going that way quickly. Come on CZ step and and reclaim control and do what you do best.

Definitely trade! My best friend (and competition pal) has a TS2 and loves it a lot. But the Orange is so rare and valuable these days that I think its a pretty clear choice man 👍

I would get the optics mount that you can attach to the pic rail under the barrel and mount the optic that way.

That is a fair deal and it is a better version of a similiar gun. I have an SP-01 Tactical and picked it up used with a lot of upgrades for cheap. Can't let that one go. I think you won't miss the Shadow after getting the Orange.
Make the trade for sure. You can get an S2 optics ready with relative ease if you ever want the CZ ergo's in a DA/SA ...that is optic ready or leave it with iron sights. TS2's are rare and super excellent. Go for it.

The optics ready Shadow 2 is 1100 at several places online. If you can afford it make the trade and also buy an optics ready Shadow 2.

I would trade for it. After all, if you crave a shadow 2 down the road, you could always get the compact...
Dan, Have Cajun Gun Works mill the slide and direct mount an optic on the Shadow 2. I did that with mine and it was great not needing to mess with a plate. Then go buy the TS2🙂
I think you're getting a great deal in the trade. Plus, you know you want the CZ Orange bad.
i have a czechmate set up in open right now. i have shadow 2... get the TS2 Orange. you will find it one of the best triggers ever. i think you can get an optic mount that fits where the thumb mount is on the orange too and run it open.
I would definitely do the trade, the TS2 will continue to climb in value compared to the other one.
Dan, I gotta say I think you'd be doing well if you traded the S2 for the TS2. Seems to me like you've really put some thought into it and you WANT that TS2.
My thoughts are: do the deal, down the road get another Shadow if you really miss it. You can get it optic ready for $1100, or get a regular Shadow 2 for $900 and have it milled by Nameless Arms in AZ for $99.

Sounds like a fair deal to me I'd go for it I'd love to have either , i have 5 czs but none of the higher end models.
Depends which trigger you like best ,with like you've said everything is getting scarse with them you might not get the blue one again but that deal is good ,me personally ild get it milled .
I have a shadow 2 ,and now a shadow 2 comp. It has ops mount and shoots just as accurate.
The only gun you really need and will keep it forever would be a Shadow 2 Orange optic ready. Also the TSO.

another option: you could get the mount that replaces the rear sight on the Shadow 2, no milling required. As far as $400 for milling, vs Shadow2+$500 for trade, I'd go for the trade.
Easy, trade for the Orange. The SAO trigger and bull barrel are special features that can't be matched on the Shadow 2, and if I really wanted a dot on it, I'd easily go the rear sight style.

Mill the slide of your Shadow I. You know the gun and how it shoots. It’s only $400 to upgrade and have everything you need.

Id just get the slide milled then later on if you want you can make the trigger like the ts2

Ditto. I personally like them Shadow 2 more than the TSO, but Shadows seem to be more readily available these days....both regular and OR models.
I say this: if you want it, go for it. You can probably get one like you already have later on for less, so trading up is a good deal.
This is a winning trade for you because that is the rarer model. Another Shadow 2 can be had. If you switched places, you would probably just buy a Shadow 2 and keep the TS2. So it's up to you to mill your current one or let your buddy give that orange a good home. Thanks for the consideration.
If you can live without the SA trigger pull, I would just mill the slide on your current pistol.
Have you tried finding a replacement slide that has the cut-out your looking for from CZ or someone else?
about 30 years ago i gave too much for a colt 1991 compact. of course that
colt is no longer made so i feel it was worth it. after all these years whenever
i carry that colt i smile.

Dan that is a hard call. You know how long I've been wanting an HK45 and I still do but I haven't splurged so I can only tell you I would not give up my gun and $500 for the trade. I know how bad you want this gun but you may find one later. Never in my life (and you know I am quite a bit older) have I acted when I had to have something that I didn't regret it. But Dan that is just me my friend. Either way best of luck with it. I'm sure you will make the decision best for you!
Anything huge like that should have an optic, it will be awesome.

I think the trade is a decent idea. But remember the TS2 requires a different magazine. I'd stick to the Shadow 2 and have it milled personally. TS2 shipments might suddenly come in and the price would drop. But the Shadow 2 is such a good platform and sharing mags with all CZ 75 guns is a big deal.
This may not be what you are looking for as a answer? I own the shadow 2 da/sa one of my favorites. I picked up a very slightly used ts2 blue. The handguns are so close in performance I questioned why I purchased the ts2. That was about two years ago. I am now happy that I own both. I would keep your s2 and mill for optic.
CZs are phenomenal guns. I can't believe they're having do many issues with sales atm
The art of the deal is both party's happy and satisfied with what they got out of the deal my friend. Don't overthink it. Just do it.
Get the slide milled on the Shadow 2.
I would do the trade. Then put a shadow 2 on layaway and have both. Spread the cost out and keep the incentive.
If you want the TS2, I think it’s a good deal, but if you like the Shadow 2, pay to have the slide milled and call it a day. I have shot both and prefer the Shadow 2, only because that TS2 trigger for me is a little light for my liking. I don’t shoot competition though. My next gun purchase is a Shadow 2.
Just buy the cz shadow 2 compact, buy the new rmr hd, add the shadow 2 bigger safety, cajun gunworks added spring detent and its money brotha. Thats my setup. I gotta an extra rmr plate that comes with added backup sights ill send u if ya want it
Since you did not mention that you were worried that you might miss the Shadow 2, I would go for the trade. If you were concerned about missing the Shadow 2, that would be the deciding factor to keep it.
Years back, I paid $330 to have my Beretta 92S (the old milsurp model with the heel mag release) the slide milled and install high quality night sights. I could have sold it and bought a 92FS with better sights, but the 92FS does not quite have the same smooth lines as the 92S, the 92S also has a deep blue finish as opposed to the Brunition finish of the later Berettas.
So if you were going to miss the Shadow 2, I would get it milled. But if you are not worried about missing it, go for the trade.
Both great options. It all depends on how badly you want the TS2. I'm wanting one myself but being me, I won't trade my Shadow 2 for it. Every now and then one pops up,. With a few upgrades the Shadow 2 can be made to match the TS2. Now, if that is indeed what you want then by all means do it. The Shadow 2 will be easier to acquire than the TS2 these days.
I have the shadow 2 and the ts2, I love them both but prefer the shadow. The ts2 is super heavy

I would do the trade and then sell off ones you don’t really really like and buy another shadow at a good price. I feel you on the need and want problems. I found a great deal on the sar usa k12 sport and I love the looks but I have no need for it. Plus I am in the middle of a bathroom remodel. Uggg first world problems.
I have the TS2 Orange..One of my fav colors. That blue one looks good too. Why mill it? It's prob just a safe queen anyways right?
make the trade. non reciprocating red dot mounts are better for this type of competition pistol. also pretty sure the TSO has a better trigger . milling a shadow 2 makes no sense unless if youre actually gonna carry that hog
I would just get the one you have milled for the smaller k optics so you could possibly directly mount it without a plate.
Instead of paying to get an optic slide cut in...I would make the trade for the CZ Orange that has a FACTORY MADE CUT in the slide . Just in case you ever had to send it in for warranty work.
I've done trading , ironically for an OD Green / blk SP01 a RAMI and a Commie edition 75 and a compact 75 W/ Decocker , I knew I'd have a hard time finding a Rami and the SP01 ... the went a bought the 2 I traded back new ... It took some hunting but I eventually got em back ... its a hard choice 😕 now I'm looking for a 97

I have that exact same Shadow 2 I wouldn't part with it. The TS2 is a single action only, I like double/single action best. Also, I don't like red dots. If you were trading the Shadow 2 for the optic ready Shadow 2 version that would be the way to go.😊

I have always liked, not loved, CZ Handguns... I really like their polymer frame hammer fired pistols. I am a value shopper. If I had the bug for it though, I'd get it regardless of personal cost.
