  • Hello guys! In today's video, we made an amazing construction of a miniature dam with mini bricks, sand and LEGO. See in the new Dam Breach Experiment video how to this model dam can withstand the powerful pressure of real water or the mini dam will collapse again

    1:19 as you can see the water slowly wets the sand
    This is a major problem faced by Dam construction, the seeping of water inside the dam materials or around it because once it starts to weaken it's game over
    That's why the most moisture resistant concrete is necessary for building dams

    • @Radnugget
      @Radnugget Před 3 lety +14

      Seapage is fine, just the whole thing got saturated and there was no structure inside to divert the seepage to a further distance, also doesn't help its unreenforced and using a material that is very weak, though it does show a dam would collapse if not built correctly, and even then, this dam did better then most of his other models.

    I'm wondering what would happen if you didn't have so much sand as the major part of the structure? Like a whole "pyramid" of bricks for the entire thickness. I mean, in the same shape as in the video, but made mostly of bricks with just enough sand to plug up the leaks from happening. (You've probably already done that and I just haven't seen it yet.)

    The thing that really gets me is that the dam collapsed just from the water being there. The tank was filled so that there was a minimum amount of current, and a minimum amount of waves lapping at the wall. Yet it still fell.
    What if you the fast current of a river flowing past? Or maybe pounding ocean waves? That thing would not hold up.
    River embankment? Nope!
    Sea wall? Not a chance!

    I cannot believe this massive construction error, they didnt put any mortar inbetween the bricks, even legos would have worked better, they were lucky that the stagnation of the water slowed down the erosion, but it was foolish of them to lay down a dam on such weak soil. Which lego engineer has to be fired that thought this was a good idea. They could have avoided this terrible disaster if they had just opened a emergency spill way but they just stood there! They didnt evacuate or anything! No sympathy for them! I feel bad only for the tax payers.
