  • This Battlecruiser has low durability, slow-reloading and low damage mains, low-velocity secondary cannons and close to no AAA. And for some reason, it's at BR 6.3. Spading this ship was a hugely frustrating experience!
I was lucky in this battle, not only downtiered, but also plenty of boats around (easy kills). But most of my battles with this Battlecruiser were absolutely terrible!

So quick question, do you angle or stay broadside on to enemies to get that 4th gun in action?

I try to use all turrets as much as possible. Especially the main guns on this battlecruiser can only fire 2 rounds per minute. So you really don't want to lose 1/4 of your firepower.

@@_Poul_ that could be part of your problem, sense the HMS Invincible has the armor of the Italian heavy cruisers, you should angle your armor so that more shells bounce off, now yes not all of your guns are on target, but 3 out of the 4 will be. Another thing is your ammunition choice, do you use AP all the time?

@@gameknight9877 From my experience, angling in Naval increases your survivability mostly by lowering your profile and hiding some compartments (this reduces crew loses from a salvo). Armor on ships works differently than on tanks. It usually covers your ammo storages and main guns - this doesn't mean the whole ship is evenly protected by armor.
If you take a look at HMS Invincible armor, it covers the waterline area and guns with elevators pretty nicely and that's it. It doesn't matter how you angle the ship, unprotected areas can be very easily penetrated and the crew placed in these areas killed. Since your shots are not pin-point accurate, some shells will very often hit unprotected areas and cause crew damage.
Of course this system is more complicated, there are also empty compartments without crew, destroyed parts with already dead crew and crew replenishment mechanics from the reserve crew pool.
The bottom point is, there is always a way to damage the ship, it doesn't matter how its angled. You can play a bit with the Protection Analysis tool to see, even with AP shells that in theory has 100% chance of ricochet with 71 degree angle of attack, you can very easily penetrate the hull above the waterline's armor plate even with much higher angle of attack than 71 degree!
I sometimes face enemies, that only show their front to me, thinking they are safe, because I can only shot their front compartments. But this doesn't mean they are impossible to be killed. You can still aim for the bridge, guns (all guns, not only mains), kill the crew located in frontal compartments and wait for replenishment from the reserve crew poll. It just takes more time, but you can fairly easily 'disable' the enemy ship that is much less dangerous with less cannons that can shoot you back (especially if you keep destroying the visible guns).
I agree that angling your ship increases your survivability, it will be harder to kill you for sure if you show less areas of your ship to the enemy. But it's a trade-off between a survivability and damage.
I usually lower my profile when more than one enemy shoots at me. In such scenario, there is no sense to tank their damage. So I want to increase my survivability and hope that my teammates will help me before I die. Because when more enemies shoot at you (and they know how to aim of course), if you can't hide behind the mountain, there is no doubt that you will die sooner or later.
The same applies to a situation, where the enemy has much better vessel than I have. There is no sense to fight him on equal terms, because my chances to win that duel will be very low. So I usually try to lower my profile, avoid some of his shells and hide asap.
In any other scenario, I prefer to kill the enemy sooner than he can kill me, so I use all available guns as much as possible. Of course it doesn't work all the time, but I don't want duels to take too long.
If I focus on fighting one enemy for let's say 5 minutes, this means I don't fight other enemies in that time. And it's impossible for me to get good damage, good score and a good result in the battle this way.
This is why I usually try to maximize my damage and kill enemies as soon as possible.
BTW: I'm not saying that my way of playing is the best way of playing. It's just how I play and I think it works pretty well for me. It's perfectly fine to have a different opinion on this and play differently. But it's really hard to compare two different way of playing and say that one is clearly better than the other. If something works well for you, there is little sense to change that.

      @@_Poul_ is Britain worth grinding?

@@fortniteclips4515 I haven't finished the whole British tech-tree, but so far I really liked HMS Liverpool. In Arcade it is BR 5.3, and it's a very strong cruiser. It's a squadron vehicle, so you can research it while in a squadron.
Is the whole tech-tree worth researching? So far no, it's not that good. I like 6-inch guns on cruisers and a few rapid-firing destroyers are interesting. But if you have eg. a premium HMS Cadiz and a squadron HMS Liverpool, that's pretty much all you need to figure out how the best ships in the British tech-tree feel without grinding anything.😀
