Dude, your videos have saved me thousands of dollars. My local shop quoted me $600 for this job that I can now perform at home for under $50. Thanks so much for all your hard work and helping us out!
Your video was fantastic. We were almost to the top of the grade on Hwy 190 going into Death Valley. In the brake inspection area at the top we saw that the belt was broken, but the car was still running and the temperature was cool. Without cell reception, our only option was to use low gear and slowly make it to our camp site in Furnance Creek 30 miles away. Luckly it was a cool day and we made to our site just in time for the battery to die and the engine overheat. We borrowed a car and drove to Pahrump NV 30 miles away and got a new drive belt and anti-freeze. We watched your video in Pahrump where we had data reception. The video was super helpful and I was able to replace the belt with no problems. Thank you! Diane
Wild story! So glad you made it. 👍🏻👍🏻
I’m not really a mechanic or inclined to it but I Replaced mine today under 20 mins with serpentine belt tool kit , diagram printed and with intake and airbox remove it makes the job even easier. Looks intimidating at first but it’s really that simple. Thanks to this guy for filming it in the way we can actually see it in every angle possible. 🎉
Video gold! Swapped belts in the same time it would have taken me to drive to a mechanic for a fraction of the cost. Thank you!
You're welcome! So glad it helped. Thank you so much for the super thanks!
Thanks for taking the time to make this content!
I just completed this task thanks to you Ry! Your videos are very informative and awesome and get me hyped to work on my Xterra (except for the timing chain) 😅
These videos are great Ry, many thanks!
Thank you Ry for this video. It really helps 👍
Hi, I really appreciate your videos which I watched all of them, I have a question regarding the Nissan Xterra secondary battery where I wanted to add one with a redarc system for off road and camping and was wondering if you have an idea where I can do this in the xterr and since the engine bay has no space, thanks.
Should you replace the tensioner and idler pullies as well for an older truck as precaution? Thanks.
Your already in there you might as well replace them too.
Great video. Thx for sharing.
Do you have a video on how to replace the alternator on the Frontier?
Hey Xterra bro! Great tips.......Xterra forever!
Here I am again coming for Ry's help
Thanks for the info, keep the video's coming 👍
I fee so fortunate that I have the same exact vehicle and your videos are so descriptive. Appreciate the quality work.
That's awesome! I'm glad to help and thank you SO MUCH for the super thanks. 🙏🏻
nice garage man. very clean
Thanks Brother and Excellent work 👍
Nice video brother, God bless your!
Hey Ry, man u rock!!!! tnx for your effort, and heart you put on this videos
Thanks Daniel! Deciding my next Xterra project soon. My X needs some love. It’s getting jealous of the mustang hahah .
Id just follow you on IG as @ashgoatproject, and throw you a question there
Great video. Replaced my belt in 10 minutes. My Frontier (same engine) is running nice and quiet again. Thanks!
People like this make utbe gr8! Nice job brother you just saved my day😁👏👏👏👏 thanks 👊
👍🏼👍🏼👊🏻👊🏻
Another helpful video from Ry! I know this was a year ago, so not sure if you've gotten one, but you need a Volant CAI in your life buddy!
Another great vid. Very thorough. Thank you!
Awesome video! If I could suggest a small change in the process, I find it much easier to leave the belt off of the idler until the end, using the slack from when you move the tensioner to put it on.
👍🏻
This was the best video yet.
Thanks! 👍🏻
Good Job & illustration .
Thank you! Glad you like it.
Ry, awesome 👍💯 amazing videos. I own a 2006 X
So grateful for this vid bro !
🤘🏻💪🏻
Thank you for sharing this video it helped me out alot replacing my serpentine belt 💯👍
No problem 👍 Glad to help! Be sure to sub for more videos! I'm always putting stuff out for the X/frontier
Thanks dude! Got my belt and tensioner pulley done in less than an hour. If it’s an xterra you can change the tensioner pulley with the fan still in place if you have a 14mm flexhead ratchet wrench. It’s too tight for just a 3/8 wrench and socket unfortunately
Thanks very much, when it comes to my Xterra you are my first reference Ray. I have a problem that when I top up my tank the gas spills out from what it seems the top neck of the tank, what causes you think of and is it a easy job that I can do like "like changing a sealant" maybe ?!
That's awesome thank you for the video it really doesn't seem that hard to do, you're the man!
For sure! Not bad at all.
@@Rythecarguy does the 2007 Nissan Xterra have a fuel filter that I can change without having to take the tank down or is it inside the fuel tank?
If it’s the same as the 05 then is in the pump itself. :/
Nice Job!
👍🏼
geart video, can u pls do a video on how to clean the ac evapurator in the dashboard. thanks
Good Video! Thanks
You're welcome!
Are these serpentine belts directional
Same thing happened to my Xterra. Thank you for this!
You're welcome, thanks for watching.
Very cool
Is there a video on replacing the pulleys? My power steering pulley is bad. The mechanic said they have to replace the entire power steering part. Which I'm pretty sure is a lie. Lol Anyways thanks for all the great videos Ry! I always watch these videos to see what type of work goes into fixing my car. I understand now why labor costs what it does. 😊
beautiful
😄
Do you think removing the big fan cover would be a problem in the future? It takes up a lot of space and I’m thinking about just removing it, to create more space.
You’re thinking of the fan shroud and it’s very important to the cooling of your car. You should not remove it. You could very well overheat in the summertime if you don’t have it in.
Ry the car guy Ok 👍
Is there a mileage interval that the belt should automatically be replaced, instead of waiting till it slips or breaks?
Lou - eye inspect at 100k and replace at 150 k
I replaced at 70k and again at 150k in my frontier. Cracks were appearing and it's cheap insurance for long trips. I still take the old belt as a backup haha.
Thanks
Please I need to know the sizes of the 3 drive belts. The 5pk etc
There is only one drive belt and I put a link in the description.
In the morning when it's raining I get some squeeling. Any idea what that might be? I've never replaced any belts on my xterra in 8 years owned.
Probably just an old belt.
I recently changed belt from shop as they said it needs to be replaced, after two days it started making squeaking noise, I went back they said everything is normal they said they will spray belt dressing, i dont want to do that so what should I do ?
Are you 100% sure its belt squeal and not a squeaky pulley?
Thanks Ry just changed the belt and tensioner on 2012 Xterra now all the squeaking is gone.
Awesome! There are few things more annoying than a squealing belt/pulley.
Thanks man, you just saved me 150 bucks
Sweet! Glad to hear. Be sure to subscribe! I’m not done with the Xterra yet.
@@Rythecarguy Alright did!
Just had my belt, a/c compressor, and tensioner replaced. It made this loud whining sound after about 10 minutes of driving. Turns out it was none of those things it was the oil filter....weird
That is weird!
@@Rythecarguy I am going to remove fan clutch and going to install electric fan from mercedes 2.2 diesel
Same process for supercharged model?
Belt path will be different.
My 02 xterra has a supercharger. Would it still be the same ?
Nope.
@@Rythecarguy more difficult?
Not really more difficult you will just have an additional pulley to route it around and the path will be different. If yours has not fallen off just be sure to take pictures and put it on the same way it came off and you should be good to go.
Good Job I am from iraq
Nice! So if I got and replace my radiator, I should prob just slap a new one of these on as a preventative maintenance yeah? Seems like it'd be east with all that stuff pulled outta there.
If your car is getting up in age and has a lot of miles on it and you’ve never replaced the belt then you might as well, it’s cheap and easy to do.
Always replace tensioner and belt together, both cost under 50 bucks
That was hard. To all women - get a serpentine tool. It's hard to push that pulley down without one. He makes it looks easy but Florida the heat is brutal, even in the morning!
Very true and good tips. Florida can be a beast.

I may not have 4 hands, but I do have a 3rd leg. ;)
😝
@@Rythecarguy I haven an 02xterra supercharge with 109k on it. How long you think I'll get out of her
Are you a mechanic by trade? Or is this a hobby?
Just a hobby. 👍🏻
How did this not destroy the engine? It's an interference engine.
Because it's just a drive belt. Not the timing belt/chain. Two different things. The timing belt/chain is what you can't take off without keeping the engine in time.
Buy the OEM belt others don’t fit correctly
Need to look at the belt length. 05-08 have stock 2232mm belts while 09-15 have stock 2217mm belts. Most sites will list both as compatible for all model years. Replacing the tensioner with an aftermarket tensioner can also impact this, as the aftermarket tensioners most commonly are for the 2217mm belt.
