Joseph Andrews | Drafted into the WWII Infantry

Joseph Andrews (1910 - 2005) was with the 424th Infantry Regiment of the U.S. Army in the European theater from 1944 - 1945. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and served briefly with the Occupational Forces in Germany. In an excerpt of an interview from 2001 Joe speaks of training and of the privations and challenges of the battlefield. Returning to the Vineyard after the War he worked with Mosher's Photo and Renear's Garage. He also worked as a carpenter and was with the Vineyard Haven Fire Department for 36 years.
