- I'm taking on Early Park Admission at Universal's Islands of Adventure and taking YOU with me! I've given myself 3 hours to see as much of the park as I can right when it opens up and I'm skipping Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure...for good reason! THIS is the way to see as much as possible at IOA in a short amount of time!

I go to IOA a lot. I find Hagrid's wait times are always really overstated. I can just tell by the end of the queue how long it will actually be. My rule of thumb is once you enter the building it's about 35 minutes.
Went to Universal for the first time last year. Husband and I both discovered that wait times are about half of what's posted.... at least that's what it feels like. Universal also does a marvelous job at keeping you entertained and awed in the que line!
We went to Universal for the first time last week. We found wait times were spot on or shorter. Once we got in line for Hagrid’s with a posted wait time of 100 minutes and we ended up waiting only 50 minutes. I guess that’s one way to make sure your guests are happy when they walk off the ride.
I went on it twice, and the wait time was dead on. 80 minutes the first time and 70 minutes the second time
We just did our first Universal trip. We took advantage of early morning hours. We were on the first bus out of our hotel and were second in line at the gate. We got on Hagrid’s within 10 minutes of the park opening. Then we walked on Velocicoaster twice in a row. We could have walked on again but after 3 intense coasters in under an hour I needed a coaster break 😂.
We went like 3 weeks back during late September/early October and did early park admission for island. Got front row on Velocicoaster thanks to a nice American guy.

My first ride for EPA is FotH. It's practically a walk-on and gets me ready for the bigger thrills later in the day.
this is our go-to strat every time. my theory: the EPA queue is always underestimate to soak up people during EPA, and the normal operating hours queue is always overestimated to drive people away. one time i waited for EPA all the way back through sinbads into lost continent and it was still posted at 60! took like 90

I find that rope drop plans in any Disney or Universal park don't always go as planned. When we went to Islands of Adventure this March on our second rope drop day we tried this very plan of avoiding Hagrid. We ended up going to Velocicoaster and it had a technical delay and so did Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey so basically there was nothing to get in line for for the first 30 minutes of early park entry. We sat around and waited for Velocicoaster to finally open. I find rope drops tend to be a waste of time, maybe it's just a curse of our family when we go.

I went to IOA back in March and did something similar. Velocicoaster to Forbidden Journey and then rode Hulk after a delayed opening.
Velocicoaster is better than any cup of coffee I've had to start the day 😁

We always rope drop Islands but most of the time we immediately do Hagrids
Ok but if you had gotten to Citywalk at 7am you would be first in line for hagrids and it doesn’t take any time unless it’s delayed. I’ve done this 3x now lol. Everyone piles up at 7:30 en masse. Gotta hit it by 7am and book it over there
Actually, by my 3rd time, I arrived at the turnstyles by like 7:05 or 7:08am, first in my turnstyle line, I walked on to Hagrid’s. First train of the day. Popped out of there and walked onto Velocicoaster. Could have walked on forbidden journey but it makes me feel icky, so I ended up chilling and grabbing a snack, then rope dropped Studios and walked onto Gringott’s and a 4th walk on of lesser value I no longer recall. 🤣 Living the high life rofl

As much as I've been to the parks, as much as I've said "I'm totally going to rope drop this" I still have never used Early Park Admission. I hope one day they institute Late Park Admission, because that's something I can get behind.

Rope drop can be an absolute waste of time,disney and universal tend to have the best rides shut until later in the morning until cast members are scheduled to turn up.

So much misunderstanding of Rope Drop. You did a great job (Pugh 2, 2) of showing pitfalls of Hagrid first. You can even get to IOA line 30 min early, and be 30 minutes in Hagrid line, or it "opens" delayed, or slow ticket line, ...
Not sure if I missed it.. what day of the week did you film this? Curious if this is part of the weekend, Monday or Tues through Thursday
No worries! I didn’t mention it in the video. This was on a Thursday during HHN season.
