Have you guys taken a look at the FMS super scorpion .? What a bad ass looking edf ...love the vids as always
WOW!! What a fancy FLAT plane!! Some of those maneuvers BLEW MY MIND and that was FUN!! AWESOME MAIDEN, Nate!! Want to see it AGAIN, also with ABBY FLYING it!! Thanks Saylors for another HONEST, FUN review!! 💟👍😘
So happy you enjoyed this, as I had an absolute blast flying it! This plane is crazy awesome, different and fun. I’m more than excited to fly it again 👍😁😎⚓️
i just got one, flies well. I also have several Twisted Hobbies planes. This is a great deal for what you get and goes together in 15-20 minutes. And you can get spare parts that just screw together.
For everyone complaining that the price is too high. Think about it like this! Do you realize how much money it cost in molds and tooling to produce an RC aircraft? The research and development the amount of people on the team that design it. All that goes into cost and effect on what a price is going to be for the outcome. Similar aircraft on the market are going to cost you every bit of $300 for the design style and performance that you get with this model. The price is spot on!
I think pros demand more than we can appreciate. And I'm no pro so I guess it is expensive to me
I got a lot of rc planes given to me from a fellow paraglider pilot because he knew I was into RC, and when I say a lot I’m talking more than three truck loads to pick them all up and there’s a ton of these flat foamies in the lot, his favorite was the enticement f3p, got a couple ready to fly and like 5 brand new not built.
I think that is one of the best videos you guys have made on an aircraft.
I find it fascinating to watch the 3D stuff. They are rather expensive, but it makes for superb viewing ! Thanks.
Lol😁💯🤣😅😁. Yay wee. Amazing stunts. Incredible flight.
A ton of fun for sure. Thank you so much Nate and Abby. God bless you always and have a great week everyone
Such a wonderful video I really enjoyed this. It was great you could hear how much fun you and your wife were both having on this maiden flight. Videos like this make me want to continue watching and sharing with my friends and family thank you!
Thank you very much Jackson! That really means the world to us 👍😁😎⚓️
Just bought one, and I like it. Build was a cake walk (I've built full on balsa planes). . . . CG is pretty good out of the box with 850Mah batteries. Calm handling under power with dual rates, I haven't set up expos yet. But she's a little heavy to land for a foamy without wind. Just have to practice. You are a better pilot than I am, so there's that.
Good job Abby & Nate !! Like it alot.... Looks fun Can't wait to get mine soon.. Another really good video and thank you both :) I think price is fair for all the tech inside the foam
Hey guys, that is an awesome plane! I just flew my flat foamie in our back yard, and when I came in I saw your video! I love flying those planes, and doing aerobatic. Great video! Great videography, and love the excitment!
E-flight made flat foam plaines years ago , in the early 2000’s those were a hot item then disappeared till now! What took them so long, it is about time!
I think the labor costs are higher for something like this. Seems crazy just looking at it, but there is a lot more to this thing than most, simple ejection mould airplanes 👍😁😎⚓️
Now that is a FUN looking plane. Just something different that can do several different things plus, just fly. Good job !!!
Another quality video guys! Great job!
i have a 3d plane very much like this one i built it like 10 years ago and few it a flew times...these planes are so much fun... even if they crash they are easy to repair... for learning many tricks they are the best...i put a powerful brushless on mine with a regular prop and it was pretty darn fast to...
I built one like this and flew it indoors in a competition...f3p planes like it are great for indoors flying in halls because its a slow plane and is a great plane to fly where you have cities
Was gonna ask about indoor flight. It seems quite capable for gymnasiums and indoor courts.
@@marshal7102 exactly where I flew mine
Cool plane 👍🏻
Nice flying Nate 🔥👍🏻✌🏻
Thanks Erric!! 👍😁😎⚓️
Great video, nice plane looks like a lot of fun
Superb. Thanks team
If I didn’t already own an EPP flat foamy I would be tempted by this video. I’m definitely not a 3D flier, I use my flat foamy to learn aerobatic manoeuvres, before attempting the manoeuvre with my other models. Consequently the flat foamy is the most beat up plane I own. I have prepared for its eventual demise, with a spare foam kit and I will reuse the motor/ESC and servos again.
The one thing that I don’t like about the Eratix is the zero airfoil shape of the wing, they fly differently!
That was awesome! I want it, bad! And congrats on your new arrival, soon!
Thank you very much! First batch of these ship this Thursday 👍😁😎⚓️
Wow, really neat.
Yeah I absolutely love flying this thing! I can’t wait to get it out and fly it again 👍😁😎⚓️
E-Flite did have a flat foamie years back, the Extra 260 3d Profile, I still have mine !
Been waiting for this review!!!!!
🤠
The more I look at this the more it interests me. At first I didn’t like it because it’s not scale look or flight but I feel like I’m changing my mind
Nice video mate great info love it 😀👍
Nice, thank you !
Abby and Nate y'all rock! Love that plane I bet it's a blast to fly. Love the channel and content! I'm here for the algorithm! Peace
Just love your puppy
It reminds me of the days of those basla wood gliders & rubber band powered planes, but with all the controls we wanted.
Picked one of these up at the Monticello horizon RC festival for $160 bind and fly. they were getting ready to close up shop on the last day so they were giving additional discounts I guess.
There used to be 3d plaines with the prop in the center off the plaine...
I saw people do strange things with those...
Great video.
Oh yes! Very capable airplanes! Thanks so much for watching Frank 👍😎⚓️
They usually had reversible thrust, like on 3D helis, so they could hover nose down, fly backwards etc. And it is called 4D.
@@KyrreXXL thank you i did not know that.
I go to a big rc and trains show in Germany and i have seen them there...
Most of the time there is a big indoor show....impressif what they can do with those plains.
@@frankvanleeuwen2943 The germans are on a different level when it comes to indoor flying, I have even seen a big jet with a real micro turbine flying in a hall (on YT, that is), not to mention huge warbids etc.
Nice to see some harriers and hovering. I skipped a bit through the video, so maybe I missed it, but I didn't see any knife edge flying. You should really try that more as it's essential to 3D and is a stepping stone towards more advanced things like rollers
I believe I did a knife edge pass, I think. Hard to remember off the top of my head 😅 Thanks for watching!! 👍😁😎⚓️
Don't forget, a plane like that is also one that is super easy to repair, you could fix it with standard foam board and use the existing parts as templates. Where a more traditional formed body and wings even if the inside is foam, you might have to buy new parts entirely, and heaven forbid you crash a wood frame. You can fix the formed foam of course, but eventually a crash is going to be to much for glue and dowel rods to fix. Where something like this is a super easy repair. i wish all trainers came designed with user repairs in mind. Make a awesome plane people can learn on and fix themselves with simple tools and materials, and that will get them interested in your much better more formed lines. And they can actually fly them when they step up. That one looks like a great plane. Thinking i might pick one up, but use its parts and some cardboard to make templates before i put it together
Greetings Timstinkering!
That is a great recommendation to use the new plane parts as templates for replacement parts prior to assembling the new plane. Another thing that can be done to improve the durability of these planes, is to apply packing tape to the surfaces prior to assembly, this will increase the overall tensile strength of the aircraft, and will extend it’s ability to resist damage caused by mishaps.
Thank you for posting your useful comments!
Please have an excellent and awesome day! ☀️✨
@@mikecarbone828 packing tape is a very good idea, thanks for sharing
I'm expecting my very first plane to arrive TODAY! It's the WarBirds P51d. I'm literally waiting by the window so I can see exactly when it gets here. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning to open presents! Thanks to your videos and others I am also buying the 1.1m Aero Scout this weekend.
There is one thing here on YT that I have been looking for that involves rc planes that I can't seem to find. I'm surprised that nobody has made a working missile! Not rockets, but missiles. I'm thinking that a super capacitor driving a small but powerful brushless motor could allow it to fly VERY fast but for only a short time. Also with the ability of cameras to now lock onto a face or object and track it could allow some basic tracking to be possible as well. No explosives obviously but it could still act as a kinetic impactor. Obviously I am looking for a more realistic dogfighting experience so I am already looking into some other things as well.
But I want to thank you two for the great videos because they are what has gotten me interested in RC flying to begin with. On Friday I am looking forward to buying that Aero Scout through your site. Before I end this I have a question for everyone. What is the easiest FPV system that can work on the Aero Scout? Not the best, the easiest! I've never done this before so I want to start simple.
Its about time they came out with a 3D monoplane.
100% agreed! This thing is Great! 👍😁😎⚓️
Nice video and nice plane. I might get back into fixed wings. My old foamies from 15 years ago could not hover.
It takes a lot of practice but it's worth it. It took me 6 months of practice but now I can hover 3-d planes and harrier almost everything. It's really fun
😊 All the best to you nice people, love to see yuo again!
Wonderful plane, soooo coooool!
Thank you!! 🙏💯⚓️
Late squad today happy flying all that’s a cool plane ✈️ though 😎😎😎😎👍👍👍👍👍⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️
Awesome! I had the old old Eratix, that was a great plane. I gotta say, LOWER!
I’ll get lower! Promise! This was my maiden flight, I think on any flat plane ever. Or maybe at least this level of quality 😁😎 Super fun! And I’m a little jealous that you had the first version. Was that like 15 years ago?
Great video
Thanks Marc! 👍😁😎⚓️
Hey guys… what was that last message I received about randomly selected and won a DJI mavric?? Must be some kinda mistake, I’ve never won anything in my life lol.
thats cool
Good video, should have one tomorrow.
What do you use to record your videos?
Okay, this is a big change for Horizon, looks great and seems to fly good, nice review.......
Honestly, I’m loving this plane a lot! Learning through the comments, I realize it Could be a little lighter for slightly better 3D performance, but the current set up allows for more Sport Flying while still being very 3D capable. Makes for a surprisingly fun/ easy to fly airplane! I can’t wait to have an opportunity to fly it again and share more with everyone! 👍😁😎⚓️
Smooth sailing..... flying. Easy. Safe. Perfect for "calm addicts"! Hah? Not bad ah? Calm? Addicts? Calm addicts?! Hahaha!
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION! 😁
Nice😊
Woot!! You got first!! 💯👍😁😎⚓️
They wouldn't be able to keep on the shelves if it sold for $160/165. I would think it's manufactured via 2d Lazer or water jet out of standard flat stock foam. I don't see anything that would require a machined mold which would drive the price up. May be wrong.
Still very cool and fun. Great video guys 👍
First of all what a awesome looking plane and its made in durable EPP.
Regarding the price point I think its actually not that bad.
I fly a twisted hobby crack yak 55 superlite series that I had to spend a couple of days building and when finished with electronics and receiver it ended up just over 150 euro for a 2s setup and here you get a 3s setup with 15 min assembly so I will for sure get me one of these later on for some outdoor 3d. Indoors its just to heavy in my opinion.
Thanx for a great video guys 👍
There’s nothing durable about this one. It’s not normal EPP.
Wdym it looks horrible
That would be me flying in safe mode I am blind as a bat and have issues flying so this looks 👍🏻 good and slow.
It is awesome, but for me the price is eye watering, seriously with some depron/foamboard and £40 of electronics (add £20 for a rx) 1/2 the price $100 build (and lighter). Safe is good and I love eflite and Spektrum but seriously the profit level on this will be superb, for eflite...
I was just about to ask for this review but are there any cheaper and better alternatives?
Hi I have the Aero scout 1.1 RTF. Can I use the transmitter on other Bind and fit plane.
For folks who are complaining about the price, you have to look at the weight of the plane. I have a comparable flat foamie from motionrc that weighs 50% heavier. I think this is a good RTF starter for folks who want to experience 3d flying firsthand. But I will skip this one because I started with a similar radiolink a560. I have yet to beat up my heavier motionrc plane, and my next plane would be from twisted hobbies which is even lighter.
Man that’s a lot of $$$
I'm no expert pilot and I do think the price is a bit high on this but at the same time it looks like a good way to break in to some more advanced flying, it seems like it would be a fairly easy plane to repair. Part of me really wants to try one out. And I've always wondered since watching your channel is that a County Airport you guys are flying at? I never knew you could fly RC at a airport but that is awesome that they let you do it
People fly at full scale airports country wide! Fully operational/ shit down. Just always have permission and be knowledgeable wherever you are flying 👍😁😎⚓️
@@TheRcSaylors I'm fortunate enough to live on a farm so I have my own spot to fly but I always told myself if I could fly at an airport I could get into edf's more with a paved runway. I'll have to check with my local airport. Thanks for the info
Thanks for the video, nice job. But wondering whats the purpose for the "Down" Ailerons built in?
The tips of the aileron’s offset some of the forces generated by the drag on the larger control surface, in addition to adding some control at the wing tip!
Do you know what the extra wire next to the battery connector is?
I was wondering the same thing. I changed mine over to XT30's right away.
Price is very fair for bnf. For those who don’t agree try building a nicer one for less.
That is basically my thought too! I mean, if this were two years ago, I could see the argument. I’m honestly super excited about the price of this BNF at $220 seems more than fair to me. Seriously considering picking up a second one so Abby has her own 👍😁😎⚓️
Anyone that been flying for 10 years probably has a pile of electronics and servos laying around so 20$ in materials isn’t bad to throw one together
But I guess they new to and flying guy could benifit if it’s rtr.
A UMX version would be pretty cool.
Oh, absolutely!! In some ways, this is almost already a UMX version 😉 But I totally get what you are saying! I’d love to see one of these come in a little less than half this size, and still fly on 3S!! 💯😎⚓️
@@TheRcSaylors Let's start a petition! ;) I also wanna start one with HH and the Blade family to bring back the MCX line. Thos co-axial rotor helis are GREAT trainer platforms. The super stable hover takes away the worry about altitude, and makes it easier to concentrate on actually flying. Been my total learning tool the past few months as I get back in to helis again after almost 20 years! (WOW has the tech improved!!) Love your channel, and keep up the good work!
I am do down for a umx version! I own this one, I'd buy a umx one for sure!

That thing is just like a propeller on a stick.
Hey Nate, are you missing 3 Pieces on the tail section it looks like there is 3 slots where somthing goes.
Do you mean the holes on the tail section?
Hey guys, loved this video... Hey what happend to your little Yorkie? Sorry I forgot his name.
Thanks! Popeye! And he is great! It’s challenging to bring him out to chase planes now, but he is super happy and healthy! We spend hours every day with him hanging out and playing 👍😁⚓️❤️
Nate - (anyone with an answer) - please -
you list the Spektrum 850 3s battery - and in the Horizon web site here is a quote about that battery -
" Please note - Spektrum IC2 connectors and charge leads ARE NOT compatible with EC2 connectors"
and if you read the comments about that battery people say it will not connect to their chargers. It appears you must buy an adapter in order to charge it.
Can you confirm this? What adapter is needed ?
It this is true then it seems you must use the Spektrum battery with its ic2 connector
and that is a $30 battery.
I already have other batteries I would like to use.
So does this mean I need an adapter to go from the ic2 to
either an xt60 or ec3 that I already have?
You do not have to use the Spektrum but if you do decide to use a different brand battery you will have to either use an adapter or solder on a new connector. You can also use an IC3 to IC2 adapter to charge it on a spectrum charger.
I use an adapter and it works perfectly.
That's the most unique plane I've ever seen. Really cool! What would you guys suggest for the best budget computer trainer setup?
I'd go with Realflight Trainer Edition. I have the old 4.5 or Clear View RC Flight Sim. Had both a long time ago. Both are about $40
@@boodaghost6896 ok but I was thinking of something that would include a controller too as to reflect how you'd fly in real life. I'd like to take the practice from the sim and go outside and directly use it.
@@kenappleby8481 Ah, so you don't own a controller? All the more reason to go out and buy one or one from Ebay. You could probably buy the DX6i for between 50-100 bucks. Otherwise, some versions of RF have one included, Again, you could probably buy and older version of RF like 4.5 and it will include one.
@@boodaghost6896 Thanks!
@@kenappleby8481 Thank YOU! I had forgotten that I still owned Clear View. You reminded me. I just started the process of reinstalling it.
Interesting looking, very maneuverable & floaty.🙂. Flies great, but for 200 or thereabouts I think it's a tad overpriced. It's more a unique show piece. All the reinforcement is probably the reason it's pricey. You could have floated in front of the moon 🌕 with music [ fly me to the moon 🌕 ] in the background. 😊😊. Hope the pooch knows not to chase the Big planes. ⚓⚓👍💜💚💛👍🌕👍⚓⚓.
Cool vids man! So is it right that the mah size doesn't matter, as long as the voltage is the same?
Basically, you are correct. It does matter eventually, like you wouldn’t want to put a 2200mah sized battery on here. It would Really Struggle with something that large or larger. I think 600-850 mah is the sweet spot for this airplane 👍😁😎⚓️
The biggest difference the mAh rating is going to make on a plane, is in how long you can fly. Think of the mAh as comparable to the size of your fuel tank. A 2000 mAh battery has essentially the ability to deliver the same current draw for twice as long as a 1000 mAh battery, just like a 20 gallon gas tank will take you twice as far as a 10 gallon tank.
Does the AS3X and SAFE Select have to be activated with a Spekrum controller? I'm on a Radiomaster.
That's a great question 🙋🏻♂️ someone??
@@HciContractor Since its a spektrum receiver I would first confirm that the Radiomaster transmitter is DSMX compatible? In the manual you have the option to bind with safe select on /off at that point. On my spektrum nx8 I can also shut off as3x and safe altogether via a switch.
Compared to a full kit of a similar size (Twisted, etc.), this seems to be a pretty good deal for $200.
Exactly 👍😎⚓️
That's not popeye! Is momma a new saylor pet or a visitor at the flying field?
Just a visitor to the field 👍😁😎⚓️
This plane would be great if I could get a battery for it. I've had it over a month and have been waiting on the battery. Just for Horizon Hobby to push back shipping dates yet another month. My local hobby store can't even get them

Chop of the IC2 and put an XT30 on it and then you can use cheaper batteries
At 200+ per copy for a piece of foam😂😂
Yea the price is obnoxious for a flat foamy
A piece of foam with over $100 of electronics in it

i wanted to see the full size airplane land!😭😭
Does the wing have an airfoil shape to it or is it flat> Thanks.
Flat! 😁⚓️
@@TheRcSaylors So, in a sense it really doesn't fly through the air but rather it gets pulled through the air by the motor. The wing does not provide lift. Is this essentially correct?
@@BillKisel angle of attack provides lift. Its common to actual aerobatic planes with a symmetrical airfoil
@@ichristosable Thanks. I think I get the picture. So if the plane is flying level to the ground the leading edge of the wing must be tilted up relative to the trailing edge. Is that correct?
As a long time flat foamy 3D flyer, this plane looks like it's overly heavy. Lots of plastic parts and bracing all over. Weight is a killer for this types of planes. Cool plane though, I'd like to try it.
I think they went with this weight so they could also appeal to “sport flying” which this plane sort of does well! Gotta think, durability too here as this should appeal to first time flat flyers like myself. Lemme tell ya: I got the bug, BAD after flying this!! 💯👍😎⚓️
Did you give the puppy a new home she looks like she likes to fly to
We would love to take her home, but if we did she’d have to be an outside dog and we don’t want to have to do that. She seems happy and safe here, with a shelter to live in. When we are here we will bring some good food for her and her puppy when it’s old enough. She’s a very cool, loving dog. 👍😁❤️😎⚓️
I live in southwest WA and if you want to fly an RC Plane then you have to get permission from someone who owns a large property because if you fly it around suburbia then people complain because they think you have a camera on it and the rangers will come and tell you to pack it up or they will confiscate it. People like that make me laugh because they have no worries walking around with surveillance cameras everywhere taking their photos. Wake up people Your photo is in every surveillance camera in every stoor you ever went into.
Sounds nasty for a profile foamy. Also for everyone saying its expensive, I have built several now buying individual motors, esc, so on and its always 180-250 depending on the servos. To get this basically ready to fly for just over 200 is great imo. I have been waiting for a new profile foamy to hit the market. Im new to rc planes and I noticed most of the 3d profile foamys stopped being made 5 - 10 years ago.
Well said Bingus, and it’s nice to hear it from the perspective of someone who has done this first hand. Eflite nailed it with this flatty and I can’t wait to fly it again! 👍😁😎⚓️
I have one of these indoor 3d planes, by crack hobby. Much cheaper. Easy to build and repair. Little video on my channel.
One of my very favourites now. Use the rudder first. Ailerons second.
Does this thing even have a tail wheel
It does not! Considering it’s on the ground for about one second on takeoff and landing, it’s really not needed on this style of RC plane 😁😎⚓️

Christmas in July sale $139 ha ha 😅😂
As you say, absolutely ridiculous price
Most planes are fine for beginners. Thumb moves them all in the same direction. Sims solve a ton of bad habits.
Oof....that price is a bit much horizon....
Man, I thought the price on this was pretty spot on 🤔 Obviously I’m always going to be happier when prices are lower (I spend a lot of our own money in the hobby as well) but I wouldn’t hesitate one second to buy a second one of these for $220 with RX. When I factor in cost of electronics, and the plane itself when compared to other planes, I really don’t feel badly about this price at all. Please explain a little more why you think it’s too high. I’m not upset in any way, as sometimes Horizon does price too high, just curious about your thoughts! 👍😁😎⚓️
I’ll buy it all day long and twice on Tuesday for the price. The receiver alone is $80. Electronics are well over $100
Compared to what? To a foamie you have to build yourself, and is far simpler design because you have to glue verything? Even so, many foamie kits today are getting close to a 100$ for the foam alone, the Eratix pnp are 200 with nice electronics, so it isnt that bad for a prebuilt flattie after all.
Always "backorder", Hunger Marketing.
A little expensive for a flat foamie!
I’ve heard this a few times in the comments, but when compared to similar kits from other brands, this hits right on the money. Plus, this is basically assembled when you get it, so if you value your own time at all, this really comes out as the winner 👍😁😎
Wait...what? That's not popeye!
Haha, yeah she is a stray dog that has found a home here. She’s got one or two puppies I believe, and so well behaved! If we didn’t have Popeye, she’d be a dog well worth calling our own 👍❤️😁😎⚓️
Popeye is a Silky or a Yorky I think!
He's probably nervous, being nearly a dad again.....
Who the heck buys that to fly it in safe lol. Also looks a little underpowered
You’d be surprised! A lot of people will buy this and fly in SAFE, switch out of it for a minute to flip flop around, and SAFE brings their plane back in one piece! All different ways to fly and enjoy the hobby 👍😁😎⚓️
