  • Watch as I restore the Philips CD960. Four belts and two bumpers are replaced on the cd-m1, which is arguably the best cd transport system Philips ever made. The unit is fully cleaned and restored to excellent working order. The CD960 is an amazing vintage cd player that uses the legendary Philips TDA1541A S1 (single crown) DAC to produce an ear-pleasing analogue signal. Enjoy.

I really appreciate you tuning in! And thanks for the feedback on the voiceover...glad y'all are digging the vibe! The CD960 is a great cd player and I love the sound of the TDA1541A. Cheers!

Also, I just clicked through to your channel...love your videos as well! I actually watched your Magnavox CDB650, Pioneer PD-93, and Sony cdp-X707es videos, all prior to finding my cd960 on marketplace. Your vids were super helpful and earned my subscription also! I was considering buying the x707es (there was one about an hour away for $600), but I let that one pass by when I found the cd960. CD players really lend themselves to some DIY fun! I'm currently looking for a TDA1541A based player that I can do some mods to....I want to keep the cd960 bone stock for reference and then compare to an NOS version....what fun to be had!

the philips drawer is a weak point, the mechanism is overcomplicated, when I couldn't fix it anymore, with the help of a friend (he cut a part of the cover above the cd mechanism), I removed everything unnecessary and made a top loader, it works perfectly
