    For being electric it's faster than I thought! If it saves your back half a dozen times a year, it's a success! I have a JD 430 Diesel that I built a shovel bucket for and it's "OK", but I'm going to tear it apart and build a proper loader this summer.

    Nice loader. And tractor. Seems like a good speed on the loader. I had three MF tractors. One has a pipe loader on it, that I made, operated by a winch and a trip bucket.

    A unique method for hydraulics. You think outside the box, so to speak. Good job!. And if I may give a serious thought about that wood burner against the shop wall; Gasoline fumes travel low along the floor. An open flame burner like that can cause an explosive ignition situation in your building. The combustion draft that the stove produces can suck gasoline vapor right into the stove. Be safe, stay well.

    Nice ! I built one for fun with my grandson thinking I would sell it but we use it to do some work that likely wouldn’t be done if I didn’t have it
    Initially just wanted to expose the grandson to fabrication. But we’ve moved tons of rock stones snow all kinds of uses .
    Built mine from a JD 140 H3 thinking a 1973 , took out the Kolhler for a V twin . Added hydraulic power steering because it was hard to steer with a load .
    Anyway nice work , looking great .

    Looks great so far , Great Job ...But don't discount the need for some weight in the back area though ... From seeing the many videos like this , the most successful ones have concluded that some weight was needed because of mostly working on grass , especially wet grass ... Peoblem found was , even dry grass when drove over couple times in working moving stuff ( mulch , dirt , sand , etc . ) The grass starts crying making itself not only wet , but a really slick wet & for snow removal you're not only gonna need those weights but some chains for the tires too... Good news though , if you have a nice or new driveway & don't want to scar it all up , they make & sell RUBBER SNOW CHAINS for MOWER TIRES ... And they're not all that expensive either .......
    But since I've worked in Industrial Commercial PORT Setting for about half a century it seemed to me to be a better cheaper way of making your loader work ....A lot ( most ) people aren't aware of all the hydraulic directional valves & ways there are to easily control them , either by button switch all the way to hands free foot switch operated ...( a much slicker way of using hydraulics it seems to me ... I know your dilemma of no hydraulics pump available on that little mower , but yes there is if you think about it for a minute .....
    Simply get a hydraulic New or Used ,
    ( a donor pump from a junked 4,000
    or 5,000 pound lift truck's steering will do nicely , I know , I have one ..)
    That lower pulley you spoke about simply mount the pump on a steel plate & there you go ...a few simple rams & you're off to the races ... But if you don't want to warp your.bucket you should put a tilt cylinder on both sides of the nice bucket you built ... Be a shame to bend. or / put a twist in a really nice bucket ...... You've got a great idea & working prototype there , finish it up & show us the completed project , New Paint Job & All..... 👍👍👍👏👏👏👏🤗🤗👋👋

    This is one of the nicest homemade loaders I’ve seen. Nice work! I especially like how the size of it really matches the tractor-so many compact loaders seem to be too bulky for the machines they are mounted to. I definitely plan to take inspiration from your project for one I plan to build.
    Can you tell me where you got the cylinders from? Thanks!

    • @kurtscustoms
      @kurtscustoms  Před rokem +1

      Well thank you sir. I got the cylinders from ebay, they're not too bad for how I use the tractor because I don't dig dirt with it all that much, I'm just a little disappointed with the speed of them. They also slow down even more when it's cold outside. But they are very powerful. It's really handy for using in the barn as an adjustable table/lift for working on push mowers, chainsaws, breaking tire beads etc, and I use it all the time for that.

    • @EweKnowWho
      @EweKnowWho Před rokem

      @@kurtscustoms Well that makes a lot of sense-using the bucket as a lift table and a press. I’ll have to remember that when I get one built for my tractor. I’m still on the fence about whether or not I want to go through the trouble of adding a proper hydraulic system, but I’ll definitely consider those electro-hydraulic ones after seeing them in action on your tractor.

    • @kurtscustoms
      @kurtscustoms  Před 2 lety

      www.ebay.com/itm/143915018875
      I'm still not 100% happy with them, the bucket cylinder retracts extremely slow and sounds like its sucking air at a certain point. I'm in the middle of trying to figure it out with the seller. I don't want to pull the cap on the side to check for low fluid or see if I can bleed the air out if it's going to void the warranty.
      I also spoke with a glide force distributor today about their full electric actuators geared for 2x the speed. So that could be an option for the bucket if I can't remedy the issue with the one I have. The two lift cylinders work perfectly fine.
      Honestly I wish I would've done more homework and went with real hydraulics, but I don't know much about them.
      I'm using two winch solenoids to switch the polarity of the motors, one for the bucket, and one for the lift. Its wired exactly how you would wire a winch onto a vehicle or atv, except where you would normally put the wires for the winch motor on the solenoid, I put the wires for the cylinders. I hope that kind of makes sense because all of that stuff is buried under the dash and I don't think I could show it on video. Thanks for checking it out!

    The actuators are faster then you give credit for. If im correct those are electric over hydrolic? Yea. Those are among other actuators on top end especially price. Actuators are used on some trash trucks to give an idea of strength & efficiency. Ive got slow actuators on my loader build on my JD L108. Mine are 5mm/s 1,320lbs & 660lbs actuators. I have to use 24v instead of 12 to make them go faster and still not the same speed as yours. Enjoy your loader, its a great show piece. Bet you never seen one like it at a tractor show.

      Yes electric over hydraulic. I didn't realize while building it how valuable it would be doing work around the house, and just how much labor it saves me. • @kurtscustoms
      @kurtscustoms  Před rokem

      Thank you. Unfortunately no I don't, I got them at Tractor Supply I'm pretty sure they're 9/16". I just remember 1/2" pins would fit without any modifications but were so loose in the cylinders I didn't care for it. So I got the 9/16" pins and drilled the holes in the cylinders out to 9/16" on the drill press. It barely removed any material that's how close they were to the bigger size anyways. In a later video I also made some tabs that I welded to the pins so I could bolt them to the loader frame to keep them from spinning in the wrong places.

      For awhile I just used a normal interstate garden tractor battery, it ran everything fine. I did end up putting a Werker deep cycle battery in it from a power wheel chair which is physically the same size as a normal lawn tractor battery. I did that for peace of mind in case I used it for extended periods. But honestly the alternator i put on the tractor kept the interstate charged no matter how much I was using the loader so there were never any problems. Also I have the same Werker deep cycle in my side by side that's 5-6 years old that's been flawless so I like the reliability.

I could always change the location of the cylinders in relation to the pivot points of the loader to try to get more speed but this works ok for what I do with it.
