  • These Instant Pot Creamy Mashed Potatoes are an easy side dish for any holiday or weeknight dinner! They are creamy and flavorful and come together so quickly!
Making mashed potatoes can sometimes be a bit of a hassle: first peeling potatoes, then chopping, boiling, draining, mashing and seasoning. With these Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes, we’re cutting down on prep and cook time.
I don’t ever peel my potatoes (I LOVE the skin), but you can if you want to. The potatoes are so tender once the cook time is up that the skin easily mashes in and you hardly even notice it.
Give your potatoes a quick chop, throw them into the pot with some water or chicken broth, pressure cook for 10 minutes, drain and mash. It is THAT easy!

You girls do a great job in getting the information out in a short amount of time. That's the essence of a good instructional video on any topic. And since we're talking about saving time with the Instant Pot, the only tip that I can add is to put the liquid in the pot first and turn it to saute. That way the liquid can be coming to temp while you're prepping whatever else is going in the pot. Add your other ingredients put the lid on, set time, program and vent or sealing.

No need to use any milk if you don't want to for creamy mashed potatoes. Get that butter (not margarine) incorporated into the hot potatoes as soon as possible. Sour cream or cream cheese can also be added but really potatoes and butter will do the trick. Love you SSS! Thanks for sharing all your recipes and ideas. 💖

It’s spooky just how similar this is to how I cook & mash my potatoes. And here I thought it was my idea 😁. I usually don’t make mine creamy, so I don’t add milk and either just use a spatula or a potato masher. I also reduce my cook time to 3-5 minutes. When you cut the pieces small, you never have to worry about them being undercooked. My peels may not be as soft as yours though. Also, I’m just cooking for one, so everything is reduced, but since I’m usually using just 2 potatoes at a time, it allows me to experiment. You can add grated cheese and/or minced chipotle pepper and many other variations too, but both of these, on their own or together, are very good. It’s easy to add too much chipotle. Too much still gives a great flavor, just overpowers the potatoes.

Here is a REAL HINT that I got from an old Italina lady who came form Itally and had a restaurant in New Jersey. Leave some of the water in the pot from cooking the potatoes and heat the pot up again and mash the potatoes with the water really hot in the pot. This really does at so much more flavor and makes the potatoes naturally fluffy and then add the butter and combine it in the potatoes and then add can milk or half and half at the end. Super fluffy and so creaming POTATOEY tasting mashed potatoes.

I love my instant pot!!! This year for thanksgiving I decided to make my mashed potatoes in my instant pot, they were perfect BUT the one mistake I made was to transport my mashed potatoes in my instant pot to my mother in-laws house... when we got there, I opened the instant pot everyone got their potatoes my sister-in-law took a bite and made an awful face... I tried my potatoes and they were horrible!!! The milk in the mashed potatoes spoiled while we were on the way to my mother in-law’s house, so I guess I just want to say, if you make your mashed potatoes in the instant pot don’t transport them using the instant pot lid use the instant pot glass lid as the temp gets too hot if you use the original lid and it will spoil your mashed potatoes 😕 I was so embarrassed... lesson learned lol

This is my new favorite kitchen tool! Day 1 I was going to pressure cook a meat czcams.com/users/postUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and potato stew, decided I wouldn't eat it that night so I went with a slow cook so I could go to bed and put it away in the morning. I love that versatility! The sauté feature works great and adds tons of extra flavor to dishes, and I can easily sizzle meats in the bottom then deglaze for some restaurant worthy flavors.Big bonus - you can cook a whole frozen chicken in about 2 hours. Amazing! I've seen a couple videos, haven't tried it yet, but I will soon!

if you use a beater or food procceser you activate all the gluten in the potatoes and it becomes alot gluer than in u were to not overmixx them!!

It should have a pressure cook button if it’s an IP duo. It’s the same as a manual button.

Your instant pot may need more liquid. I have an eight quart and it needs 2-1/4 cups of liquid so I have to adjust a lot of recipes.
