This brilliant loving wonderful man is my Dad too! I’m the youngest of the four kids. We were blessed to have him and my Mom while living up on that “hill”. Their ingenuity and hard work gave us all we needed growing up. I miss him and mom so much. There aren’t many people like Dad that could put together stuff like this. Especially seeing how he didn’t have much formal schooling. He was self taught out of necessity and it paid off. A lot was lost that day he passed. I love you! Lisa
It's strange how some people look at a problem and think "how can I get someone to do this?" and others like Mr. Roland Cotnoir look at a problem and think "Wow, I am going to have some fun with this one!" Rest easy Mr. Roland, you left a space that is not easy to fill. I would have been honored to call you Friend.
Isn't that true. We are losing more and more people from this generation that looked for a solution to things with simple, not overly complicated ways. What saddens me is that too many people think they need to go to college, when in fact, we need more people with trades and who are not afraid to get their hands dirty. Don't get me wrong, we need college educated people too, but what are we going to do when we don't have people like Mr Cotnoir around and we need things fixed or created?
Right. And this underscores my theory, never throw anything away. He just happened to have or knew where to find an old diesel engine, had the old pickup in good running order, knew how to weld up a framework for the blower, knew which end of a wrench was the handle, and so on. There were hours of enjoyable contemplation and "figuring out" going on before ever a tool was picked up. The most fun is figuring it all out.

Great video, your Dad seemed like a true American I'm sure you're very proud of him as you should be. Makes me think of my parents..both passed in Warner New Hampshire over the last 14 months, my Mom from COVID-19. My Dad was an engineer/designer on the LEM (Moon Lander) for Grumman and then later on the A-10 Warthog for Fairchild/Republic...great memories.
My grandfather was this guy. Had a gift for finding old machines, re-purposing, and re-using them. Y'all shoulda seen his log splitter or many other of his "creations".

This a great setup. I like the way you have balanced the weight on your vehicle so you have even distribution on all four wheels. I agree with some other comments where you should make a metal shield placed between you as the operator and the hydraulic control valve assembly just in case a leak develops when you least expect it.

Sad that he's moved on from us, a Great innovator for certain! I'm sure when he arrived at the Pearly Gates that St. Peter was anxious to go build something with him! Be looking for refined models of pickup truck mounted snowblowers, and you'll see your dad's innovation taking the normal course of product evolution. My family was full of innovators. One of the most public inventions was in 1970 my dad bought a brand new flat nosed ford van to turn into a camper for a family of 5. He cut the entire top off and built the very first solid camper top with beds and cabinets up there. The neighbors said he was crayzee, then our second camping trip, two cars showed up at our camp site, 5 people got out and started taking pictures and video of the camper, inside and out, and someone handed my dad a check...Us kids had no clue what was going on. My dad handed the guy some drawings, and the people drove off. Later we found out that was the CEO of Chinook camper company. It wasn't long and they were making fiberglass molds to go on the tops of vans, and the latest factory models today sell for $50k and up. We are Thankful to that generation for the convenient machines we have today. This current generation needs an instruction book for paper airplanes...........

About 10 years ago I sold a 350 engine to a guy that was replacing the "under powered" 305 v8 that powered the snowblower on his truck. Front had a blower and the back had 2 drop wings that cleared a 12 ft path. Crazy machine!
Absolutely cool. Being inside the cab if a line blows would be a bad thing. A protective cover around those lines might save your life, otherwise looks like you can certainly keep yourself busy. My husband and I bought a Dr Power Brush Mower (500cc) with snow blower attachment. Our drive way is about 500 feet. We're pretty happy with it.
This guys is fantastic. My brother is a hydraulic controls engineer. He make a bunch of cool lifts in his garage/shed and made a front end loader for his tractor. Cool shit.

Pretty cool. My buddies dad built something similar to that. He used an inclosed tractor for cutting grass. It has two big mowers on each side and one up front. He removed all of the mowers and put the auger on the front. Pto all ready there. All he needed to do was make up brackets to attach the auger. Pretty cool machine. Rear steering of course
Of course everyone would have done it another way. What a great idea using the things that he had on hand. Glad he was able to share this wonderful creation with us. 👍👍
What an amazing creation! It's so sad to hear that he is no longer with us. I hope his creation still lives on. I love the old pickup too... that's when the US knew how to make trucks... not the leather lined EFI monstrosities that we see now.
Wow I've seen a few truck snow blowers throughout the years, but they have always required a nother large engine on the front of the truck and are huge heavy units. This is perfect because it's about 6 feet shorter and all the weight is on the rear end where it should be instead of hanging out past the front. Now that is some good thinking. RIP and I hope you and your snowblower are still moving some snow up there for everyone!

Too smart for an assembly line, he would maintain the entire plant before lunch, teach 3 new people how to run machines, and fix 4 peoples mistakes he taught how to run them years ago but they still don't listen.

My boss was talking to us a lot about the mid-sized John Deere he was ordering. He agreed that a snow blower would be a useful thing to have. I cringed for him at the thought of a 3 point hitch unit. I said to check and see if there was any way to put the blower on the front. He asked. They set that tractor up a lot like your design. A hydraulically drived PTO type of unit to operate the blower. It was a fine setup.

The fun he must have had designing, building and using it. No way mistaking the sound but anything other than a Detroit diesel. Plus the fitment on that cab is like it came from the factory that way!

About 10 years ago I sold a 350 engine to a guy that was replacing the "under powered" 305 v8 that powered the snowblower on his truck. Front had a blower and the back had 2 drop wings that cleared a 12 ft path. Crazy machine!

Absolutely cool. Being inside the cab if a line blows would be a bad thing. A protective cover around those lines might save your life, otherwise looks like you can certainly keep yourself busy. My husband and I bought a Dr Power Brush Mower (500cc) with snow blower attachment. Our drive way is about 500 feet. We're pretty happy with it.

This guys is fantastic. My brother is a hydraulic controls engineer. He make a bunch of cool lifts in his garage/shed and made a front end loader for his tractor. Cool shit.

Pretty cool. My buddies dad built something similar to that. He used an inclosed tractor for cutting grass. It has two big mowers on each side and one up front. He removed all of the mowers and put the auger on the front. Pto all ready there. All he needed to do was make up brackets to attach the auger. Pretty cool machine. Rear steering of course

What an amazing creation! It's so sad to hear that he is no longer with us. I hope his creation still lives on. I love the old pickup too... that's when the US knew how to make trucks... not the leather lined EFI monstrosities that we see now.
One of my cousins, Dad’s nephew, has the snowblower now. It lives on!
Love the diesel and GMC. Quite the beast. California could use a few of these for the poor folks stuck in the mountains this winter.
Wow I've seen a few truck snow blowers throughout the years, but they have always required a nother large engine on the front of the truck and are huge heavy units. This is perfect because it's about 6 feet shorter and all the weight is on the rear end where it should be instead of hanging out past the front. Now that is some good thinking. RIP and I hope you and your snowblower are still moving some snow up there for everyone!

Too smart for an assembly line, he would maintain the entire plant before lunch, teach 3 new people how to run machines, and fix 4 peoples mistakes he taught how to run them years ago but they still don't listen.

My boss was talking to us a lot about the mid-sized John Deere he was ordering. He agreed that a snow blower would be a useful thing to have. I cringed for him at the thought of a 3 point hitch unit. I said to check and see if there was any way to put the blower on the front. He asked. They set that tractor up a lot like your design. A hydraulically drived PTO type of unit to operate the blower. It was a fine setup.

I hope he didn't suffer I wish he was my father as well he is terribly missed I can feel his presence and he is always with you and the family such a wonderful wonderful gentlemen were losing more and more of them every day and that's a terrible shame you and the family were truly blessed to have him in your lives I miss him and didn't know but as tho I did if only we had the powers of god and Jesus we could bring him back if only we could turn back the clock and get back and relive those years god bless all of you and thank you from the bottom of my heat for letting his memory live on through this video
The fun he must have had designing, building and using it. No way mistaking the sound but anything other than a Detroit diesel. Plus the fitment on that cab is like it came from the factory that way!
