I am a lamb until the day I die and I know lambs hate Regine but I have to give credit when it is due. She did an amazing job singing this live, and she hit all the big notes LIVE. I love mariah probably more than any other female singer, but I have be honest and i know her voice and how she sings live, and I dont think mariah could have done this unless it was 1995. She has great live performances but not the best and we all know she is better on record, but lets be real. mariah couldnt have done this as well as regine. thats just my opinion and I love mariah and this song lol

I am a lamb until the day I die and I know lambs hate Regine but I have to give credit when it is due. She did an amazing job singing this live, and she hit all the big notes LIVE. I love mariah probably more than any other female singer, but I have be honest and i know her voice and how she sings live, and I dont think mariah could have done this unless it was 1995. She has great live performances but not the best and we all know she is better on record, but lets be real. mariah couldnt have done this as well as regine. thats just my opinion and I love mariah and this song lol

The voice and tone is definitely Regine, the arrangement could perhaps be in the style of Mariah's and whoever arranged it decided to let it be, but Regine was able to nail it in her own sound and vocal style.
Mariah and Regine have very different vocal qualities and style but both have really great voices that we can't easily imitate. Each is unique. Regine admitted that she is a Mariah fan. Mariah naturally hit international stardom fast in 1990 coz its the US, and they can easily penetrate the international market. Mariah introduced a new sound and a new voice full of high soaring notes. Meanwhile Regine who won a 1989 international singing contest also started gaining popularity in the Philippines and in Asia by the 1990s because of her singing style and powerful voice with soaring high notes which was somewhat a new sound then for Asians. (Although Regine started her local professional singing career in 1987 she hit stardom after her 1989 international win) Regine was once considered to be almost like the SouthEast Asian version of Mariah of the West. They both introduced a new voice with vocal acrobatics and soaring crescendoes. So both are icons in their own way who paved new vocal styles and music.
The arrangement is in the style of Mariah because Mariah wrote and produced the song LOL. I agree both Regine & Mariah are monster vocalists but songwriting is what sets Mariah apart from other female singers, including Whitney & Celine.
