Fun Fact: One of the drivers in this race, Herschel McGriff, is still alive at age 95. He ran his first NASCAR race in 1950, and would run his final race, 43 years later in 1993 at Sonoma. He attempted to also qualify for the first NASCAR race at Indy the next year, but failed to qualify. He kept racing up to 2018, when he would run an ARCA West race at age 90. He was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame earlier this year, with 4 total wins in NASCAR

@@jabber1990 its true. They shut down the old state fairgrounds years ago and the entire grounds has been developed. The track itself is taken up half by parking for the amazon warehouse and the other half still just undeveloped, at least according to google maps

This was the very first race held in the Michigan area. It was a marquee event for the Big Three automakers.This one was a thriller at the end. Got a new winner who capitalised on Turners misfortune.
