    Rebecca truly loves being out on the boat fishing and pulling pots has a great set of sealegs and is getting that "salty" look with some blond streaks in her hair and always has a big smile when catching something big for dinner!

    Great update thanks Guys! Nice haul of Bream, plus a tasty Gurnard - I've been told they are excellent eating but not tried one yet. Good catch of Lobsters too. Stay safe & well - Dave.

      Gurnard are very tasty but you need a half decent one to get some good fillets from them.

    Bloody weather it’s been all over the shop, lumpy out there as well… does it tend to be calmer early mornings?

    What would you prefer, those three 2lb+ lobsters in that pot or one 6•5lb'er and why?

    • @Trojwaterman
      @Trojwaterman  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Larger lobsters are always better. You get more meat vs shell as apposed to several smaller ones. Larger ones, are better tasting because the lobster is not changing its shell (making the meat watery and washed out each time it does this). Some say Lobsters are tough when they get large. But there is large and large. lobsters can reach 10lb to 15lb it is possible at these sizes but a lot of lobster that are tough has been overcooked. Having said that If I had to choose I would prefer a 2lb to 5lb lobster for taste and quality

    Please ask Rebecca to be careful with the rope. I seen she was holding on to the rope very tight. I guess to get the weed off the rope. I don’t know if you have gotten any fishing hooks in your ropes yet. But if you do have any in the rope and holding the rope very tight and not see the hook. It will do a lot of damage to her hand. If it penetrated her hand and went into the winch. My son and some of my friends are crabbers here in Louisiana. They get a lot of hooks in the ropes from fishermen who snagged them. The line breaks off and they are hard to see.

      It is definitely something to be aware of but fortunately its vary rare as the gear we set is normally well out the way of line fishermen. I have only ever had one hook in the rope many years ago it was near the bottom where the weed does not grow.

    Hi troy Rebecca, 😊you don't seem to have caught any large spiders lately 😢I know Rebecca likes them, 😊has there been a shortage of them

    • @Trojwaterman
      @Trojwaterman  Před 11 měsíci

      They migrate. They march to here arriving in April / May in perfect condition packed with meat. They leave July August and by then the meat gets mushy and not nice after breeding and shell changing. Some stay around all year but they are small weedy ones.
