Incredible episode for Akane. Her storyline in s1 was so heavy that I didn't really get a sense of who she was as a character before s2. She's great! SuperB addition to this cast.
It's actually insane how many people miss the implication of what Akane said and take it as face value when Akane literally explained her train of thought literally seconds after saying it. Atp she already knew the burden Aqua carried but she is keeping it a secret because she wants Aqua to willingly let her in as she knew he has a trauma and prob don't wanna talk about it, She was gentle and mindful of the trauma hence why even in the manga Aqua trusted her with his secrets. In hindsight Aqua is just gauging and trying to scare off Akane by being "edgy" but as we see it, she gave the best response that Aqua needed in order to trust her more, she doesn't want to do it as much as possible she doesn't want it to happen but if push comes to shove she will be there for him as she promised, it's not about being right or wrong as quoted by her having someone that's by your side even when things gone to shit is what Akane wants for Aqua she just doesn't want him to be alone anymore.
@BrandonRS95 it didn't, tho? Because of her, Aqua mellowed out with someone and managed to take a breather because he opened up with Akane. I don't wanna spoil anyone the details, but Akane gave him an option, and he did live peacefully because of Akane. She managed to do what she intended as Aqua managed to find a safe space with her.

Either way, the main takeaway for me was how it was only a temporary fix and not something that solved the root issue, because we know how things turn out once he figures out so and so is actually still alive
@@jedsale8971 I totally agree with you. It seriously amazes me that some people (mostly some of the most unhinged kana fans) saw Aqua being hugged and comforted by someone who wasn't Kana, and decided to think of the worst possible outcomes of that. Including, but not limited to, thinking that Akane is this super manipulative mastermind who will have so much influence over Aqua that she will even INCENTIVATE HIM to kill his father. Wild.
That's been the best episode so far. So much happened. Man, I foresee Akane going too far and Aqua having to step in. Hope I'm wrong and they at least still remain close despite everything. in season 1 I made peace with Akane taking the sideline with them being "business only", but now that she's been a real contender, I don't wanna let go off what are great, dramatic interactions and someone who's a serious G
Aqua and Akane are perfect for each other if you want to ensure both character spiral to their worst points and live a life in hell. They're similar, but that's a problem
love the fact itll reveal later the things akane did is the best option she have to help save aqua akane is the smartest, understanding & nicest in the series ngl
From what I understand, Ruby is mad at the thought that Aqua would be doing naughty stuff with a highschooler because either: - She remembers that he was an adult in his other life, or - Ai was a highschooler when she got pregnant, and Aqua should know not to inflict that burden to a highschooler
She specifically says he wouldn’t risk getting a high-school girl pregnant, so it’s always seemed clear to me that that was the crux. That’s the part she could never accept from him, not when he knows better than anyone what it can do to a girl’s life - especially if she’s a famous performer. (Oh, and one who’s already proven herself vulnerable to public hostility.)
Slight correction about the end of the discussion, I understood that Kana stage character was shipped with the protagonist by the fans, and the Princesses characters took a backseat, but in the play now it's the Princesses companion, not the protagonist that has an emotional scene with her. Your point stands though! It's fascinating to see the parallels.
I love Akane's character because of what she brings to the show. Plus I love the method acting bits she does and her piecing together things. But I just couldn't get behind her "I'll support whatever because he saved my life." That's not how you save someone. I dunno if it's my psych facility training speaking or my personal issues with a woman who supported a toxic man that eventually led to my own suffering, but yeah no I hope they're not endgame. There's nothing wrong with being there for someone and supporting them through resolving their trauma, but encouraging a person's worst impulses and joining in on it is not it. Unless probably both of them develop a healthier coping mechanism for their traumas. Also while I'm Team Kana, I have limited evidence that they're also endgame so shipping-wise, I think Akane's "claim" is stronger this episode.
Because from season 1 Kana has been given more shows and more in-depth than the main character, Ruby. Didn't you notice that compared to the director and Melt, Ruby's own voice and emotions were not portrayed at all? Kana and Akane have much more screen time than the main character Ruby. You have to wonder or understand it. The original story has been anime since more than two years later. Including the fact that there were very few rubies, they put it all together well. One should have doubts about the growth and center of the main character Ruby in the first stage. The original story is a climax, but her activity is not until the end.
I remember reading this chapter and wanting Aqua to stay the fuck away from Akane lmao. That ain't healthy for you, my man. What's up with all the blue haired girls who get saved/helped by protag and become obsessed with them? From Rem all the way to Hinata, there's just so many lol.
Man, so much to talk about, and you didn’t even manage to get to how Akane’s dark childhood secret throws her rivalry with Kana into a new light! So, couple thoughts on the love triangle. One, the big thing that the anime’s first episode cut out from volume 1 was the flash-forwards at the beginning of each chapter. The chapter where we first met Kana started with her teenage self being interviewed, and she backpedaled on something she said thoughtlessly with a comment that “Ah-kun” would be mad at her. So it was clear from the beginning that she’d be involved with Aqua later on. If anything, Akane’s the one whose role and relationship with Aqua grew. (Not that Tokyo Blade maps _that_ great onto any of this, because Aqua plays a secondary character - Blade (Himekawa) is the hero, Tsurugi (Kana) is a sidekick, and Princess Saya is head of an enemy faction, with Touki at her side.) The other thing is what I wrote on /r/manga when chapter 52, with the balcony scene, came out three years ago: “If anything, this chapter leaves me more convinced that Aqua's character arc will lead him to a Kana end in the long run. Chapter 50 made the difference between his relationships with Akane and Kana explicit: Akane's instinct was to soothe, to comfort, to _support,_ but Kana scolded her for coddling him and bluntly pointed out what the root of the problem was, and he knew she was right. While none of his relationships are exactly healthy right now, Kana's the one who can call him out on his bullshit. Being with Akane means stagnation, or even regression. “Akane's brilliant and kind and has some skills that are very valuable in relationships, but she's an enabler, and staying with her means going down the path to tragedy. His relationship with Kana is where he can find the character growth that he really needs if he's to overcome his flaws and find a happy ending.” (I’d say the defining theme of Aqua’s relationship with Akane has been him projecting Ai onto her - in the manga, before he tells Miyako that “people die easily” after the suicide attempt, there’s a one-panel flashback to Ai’s body. The defining theme of his relationship with Kana, meanwhile, has been _him pushing her forward._ From their first meeting when they were little, to the Sweet Today set, to recruiting her as an idol, to helping her train, to firing her up at the concert. And in the last episode, she made an attempt to do the same for him.)
Two points I just thought of. "Great genes" -- and Ai could be a bit shallow at times, so she probably wouldn't have dated anyone who wasn't handsome (at least 17 years ago). So the father either is or was probably good looking. And while the first day of the play is next episode, and Aqua probably will pull off something, can he sustain that emotion not just once, but for the entire run of a live play over weeks at a time? That may be extra stressful.... (also give time for Melt to grow, if he doesn't hit it out of the park on opening day).
Aqua interacts with her co-stars and the director, but Ruby doesn't have that. He eats Akane's food every night, so Ruby stays home alone. Melt is the first man Ruby comes into contact with outside of her brother in the manga. Ruby is a rookie idol who doesn't have much knowledge of the showbiz industry compared to the other characters. It is an episode to teach you what to look out for when you are asked for your contact information in the entertainment industry.
It's interesting for Aqua to continue the thoughts he was having when he was playing catch with Kana in season 1. Aqua ISN'T completely the doctor, he is his own being, and as he gets older and continues to have his own unique experiences in his own unique body, he's becoming more and more separate from who the doctor was. In my mind, there's even a question if Aqua has always been a completely separate entity who was more or less possessed by the doctor when he was born, but because he was just a baby, the doctor's personality completely dominated. However, now that he's becoming more and more mature, his own personality is establishing itself separate from the doctor and the doctor's control is becoming more indirect. Likely Aqua referring to the doctor as a separate entity is just psychological, but what if it's more?
I think it's more that he's a new separate person who has the doctors memories (rather than possessed). So as a kid without much experience with the world, the doctor's memories are much stronger. And as he gets older, his memories of his past life is fading except the strongest ones (core memories) which are all associated with Ai who also happens to be the last person he interacted with mostly before he died.
@@kk_sj3635 I think you're most likely correct, it's just interesting to speculate. From a psychological standpoint, the effects of either could be similar. Either way, Aqua feels almost like there's a stranger driving him forward.
I believe that it is impossible to use a total psychological means, since we do not have any proven case of reincarnation happening to analyze. But I'm curious about psychology and neuroscience and my knowledge of the Oshi no Ko anime and manga is as follows. Aqua and the Doctor are literally the same person, the difference is that the brain, body, genes, etc. are all Aqua's, and only the doctor's memories were kept. Besides, he is having a completely new life than his previous one, so he is evolving. It's like 10 year old you to 20 year old you, They are both you, but with different memories, different experiences, different body, different environment, etc. Think about it in a much more extreme way where you literally swap bodies, that's basically it. In short: They are the same person, but they are different from each other because of what they have experienced. For example, when Aqua was born he was already as intelligent as a trained doctor (yes, that's absurd).
I think the next episode is my favorite part of the arc I can't wait, in the scene with Aqua and Akane there's a single star that shines brighter than the others just like when Ruby first performed and there's also one in the first episode with Goro and Ai, also remember the line it's a boyfriend job to not let his girlfriend die
@@CheesyDale You just described a scene that will happen next episode? LMAO. That scene never happened here. There was no fucking star except the dark ones this episode?

Casting → Ruby is a newcomer. Kana and Akane are veterans. Veterans play an important role in Japanese productions. I think Kana is the heroine in the end. The growth and feelings of Ruby, the hero, need to be drawn first. The author has not drawn it. She rarely plays the role of the hero in the manga. Ruby is a new idol with little knowledge of the entertainment industry compared to the other characters. Akane knows about Aqua's revenge and PTSD, but Ruby does not. Ruby has little presence in the original story as well. The story reaches a climax, but Ruby is not very active. For Aqua, the previous life is completely traumatic, so elements of her previous life do not work.
Akane knows about Aqua's revenge and PTSD. sister Ruby doesn't know that. It's Ruby's dislike for her father who got Ai pregnant. Her depiction of emotions is clearly lacking. Kana is active from start to finish. Akane is a character who is on Aqua's side from start to finish. Ruby rarely appears in this story and has nothing to do with Aqua.
You're doing the Tokyo Blade parallel as if Kana wasn't the one who was introduced as the love interest while Akane is the shoehorn side character the fans insist should be the main girl lol. Oh, sweet summer children... Sure, if the moral of the story was revenge is good then Aqua and Akane would be great, but it's pretty clear that this revenge is drowning Aqua and what he wants is light and happiness 🤷🏾♀️
Yeah I think the majority of people are glancing over the fact that Kana's situation actually fits Princess Saya more. Especially since Akane wasn't even intended to be a character past the Lovenow arc. And I think it's also unfortunate how many view Akane's willingness to murder as a good thing for Aqua and their relationship. All Aqua wants is to be free of his guilt and move away from the topic of revenge, Akane supporting those aspects of his personality is very much a bad thing. He needs someone who's wiling to stop him from taking the wrong path.
@@dks8180hmm, I would think when akane finally see how this stuff is actually mentally draining him first-hand, she might turn and try to stop him then. But who knows, let's see how it goes.
Kana is the most popular character of oshi no ko, she has almost 3 times as many users as akane has (on mal). It is quite the reverse, aqua kana is the most popular shipping. The tokyo blade manga does reflect the oshi no ko manga, but in a different way
Kana is literally the most popular character in oshi no ko on MAL btw Her ship is more popular And are we forgetting that akane was practically non existent in S1? The parallel is correct akane is currently playing the role to be "aqua girlfriend" but people like kana that are lively would naturally take everything away from her including her position as the "girlfriend" to which she hated badly😂 Saya also has the same conflicted personality as akane whilst tsueugi is lively like kana So I think the parallels check out

(assuming he doesn't end up in jail)..to me personally the CURRENT Akane ends up being more of a toxic influence with her willingness to help (she is still a great moral support to him in other areas tho) Your analisys of the play in paralel with the love triangle is interesting, though i won't talk more about it cuz spoilers for the next arcs and i won't share my opinion on it, just though i'd say it might be a nice catch.
@@Shinigami00Azael sorry mate she cant even cook, i dont wanna eat uber eats everyday, sorry mate, no debates at all, Akane is type of "partner in crime" waifu, thats all I needed as a waifu, foods and a partner in crime.
It's really weird that Kana would say that Akane's acting says "I'm right and you're wrong" when Kana, as great as she is otherwise, is a bit of a know-it-all who seems to love lecturing people about her wisdom. Every time she has, admittedly valuable, information to impart, she adopts a bit of a lecturing stance and tone. She may have been knocked down a couple of pegs in recent years, but you see in the previous episodes that as soon as she is surrounded by the LaLaLai actors who were impressed with her initial rehearsal, she gets this know-it-all expression on her face again and is carrying on to them. It's kind of cute, but it's just weird that she, of all people, would be bent out of shape by someone else's acting style saying "I'm right and you're wrong".
We don't even know where that came from so it could be from a past interaction. Akane's method is to study a role thoroughly whereas Kana's strength is adapting to scenes and other actors. I don't think it's about being a know-it-all. Also she does know it all, she's been through it and I don't know where you were in season 1 when she said her confidence is a coping mechanism. Also she doesn't say that Akane's methods are wrong. She's just saying that her methods are also valid.
@@kk_sj3635 I'm thinking that maybe one of the reasons Kana and Akane spark off each other so much is that they both have this need to be in the right.
Okay, so now that we're almost halfway through the season, I really need 1) Aqua to confide his secret to Kana, so their relationship can develop. 2) Aqua to have a moment of vulnerability with Kana so that their relationship can develop. 3) Both of them doing ANYTHING so that their relationship can develop.

This is essentially a tournament arc with each character having an adversary to face on stage.
From what I understand, Ruby is mad at the thought that Aqua would be doing naughty stuff with a highschooler because either:
- She remembers that he was an adult in his other life, or
- Ai was a highschooler when she got pregnant, and Aqua should know not to inflict that burden to a highschooler
The second
No. 1 is dumb even if it's not the reason. She's 17, it's not like Aqua was using his reincarnated self to date kids.
20:12, wow good points. Imagine if they shows lightnings becomes purple and it does what you said. It might be interesting.
But I just couldn't get behind her "I'll support whatever because he saved my life."
That's not how you save someone.
I love to see your reacting faces :) Can't wait for your reaction on Ep6.

I like Oshi No Ko 2×5 anime show!❤🎉😊

Abiko-sensei is cute.
(Not that Tokyo Blade maps _that_ great onto any of this, because Aqua plays a secondary character - Blade (Himekawa) is the hero, Tsurugi (Kana) is a sidekick, and Princess Saya is head of an enemy faction, with Touki at her side.)
The other thing is what I wrote on /r/manga when chapter 52, with the balcony scene, came out three years ago: “If anything, this chapter leaves me more convinced that Aqua's character arc will lead him to a Kana end in the long run.
His relationship with Kana is where he can find the character growth that he really needs if he's to overcome his flaws and find a happy ending.”
(I’d say the defining theme of Aqua’s relationship with Akane has been him projecting Ai onto her - in the manga, before he tells Miyako that “people die easily” after the suicide attempt, there’s a one-panel flashback to Ai’s body.
Kana best girl as usual even in an Akane focused episode
Not in this episode lol

It's interesting :)
Tokyo Blade - Shinjuku Arc. Abiko really is Gege Akutami in another universe
Let me tell You this. It started this episode! Melt x Ruby is a ship I want! 😂 Great reaction!😃
The play will be at least 3 episodes long
It's interesting for Aqua to continue the thoughts he was having when he was playing catch with Kana in season 1.
This season will have 13 episodes.

For all that Akane's love for Aqua seems very intense, I'm not sure it's coming from a healthy place in more ways than one.
That part.

22:00 Akane Supremacy!!!
The tokyo blade manga does reflect the oshi no ko manga, but in a different way
Kana is literally the most popular character in oshi no ko on MAL btw
Her ship is more popular
And are we forgetting that akane was practically non existent in S1?
The parallel is correct akane is currently playing the role to be "aqua girlfriend" but people like kana that are lively would naturally take everything away from her including her position as the "girlfriend" to which she hated badly😂
Saya also has the same conflicted personality as akane whilst tsueugi is lively like kana
So I think the parallels check out
Kana is a self-insert.

Aqua really does not need encouragement with the killing stuff
25:57 Aqua really does not want Kana of all people to see his "terrible" acting for...reasons
For the same reason as he tries to keep her at arms lenght
30:40 i'm glad, you guys understand Aqua's reincarnation better than most reactors who just see him as a 30y old man in a 17y old body
33:30 you need to consider the future, would Aqua be happy after killing someone?(even if it's his mom's killer) Would he be able to live a normal life? (assuming he doesn't end up in jail)..to me personally the CURRENT Akane ends up being more of a toxic influence with her willingness to help (she is still a great moral support to him in other areas tho)
Your analisys of the play in paralel with the love triangle is interesting, though i won't talk more about it cuz spoilers for the next arcs and i won't share my opinion on it, just though i'd say it might be a nice catch.
