This makes that part where he becomes extremely dependent on Bernadette make no sense, as these scenes show that at some point Howard could take care of himself.
Which is why it makes perfect sense. It's a myth that guys like Howard can't take care of themselves- they just don't want to and don't think they should have to, so they find women like Bernadette to do it for them. They're not helpless babies they're manchilds, the difference being that a manchild can but won't.

@coldstone87 it was about Raj and Howard's personal time too, what the hell are you talking about? It wasn't all about Sheldon. They showed the private life of Howard and Bernie all the time, when they were dating, and later their marriage life too. Maybe Raj was neglected - I can agree with this part, but that's because the writers/creators decided to give him a girlfriend very late on the show. Anyway, you are wrong. They showed the private lives of every character. And certainly Howard's private life. In fact, after Sheldon and Leonard, I believe they showed Howard's life the most. And the fact is that Leonard and Sheldon were the two main characters from the get-go, not Howard or Raj, so it is only natural that Leonard and Sheldon had the most screen time.
And choices like this don't happen on TV out of nowhere. It happened because the fanbase loved Sheldon - yes, that's right. All the hateful comments about him nowadays are from kids who don't get sitcoms and the type of comedy Chuck Lore writes, but these haters are in the vocal minority online, while Sheldon was always very loved and popular. He brought entertainment to the show: his quirks, his weirdness, etc, it was all very funny and entertaining to watch, and people loved it. I remember the comments online, among the fanbase, when the show originally aired - Sheldon was the most popular character, and the writers/TV executives always respond to this kind of popularity, that is just a fact of how TV business works. Sheldon would have never become the main character, and the only character with his own spin-off show (Young Sheldon), if he wasn't popular. But he was, and TV producers and executives saw that.

Simon is talented but Parsons is above him when it comes to physical comedy, and it was Sheldon who literally stole the show because if you are an old fan who watched the show from the start, you probably know that Leonard was supposed to be the absolutely main character, and he started as the main character in season 1 and 2, yet it was Sheldon who ended up as total number 1 and the only character with his own spin-off show - Young Sheldon. And that's because Parsons became insanely popular as Sheldon and stole the show with his unique, amazing performance of Sheldon, and people absolutely loved him when the show originally aired.
In fact, if you read the oldest comments on various social media, you will notice that people loved Sheldon & Penny's interactions the most, and said they watch the show mainly because of Sheldon and Penny. So yeah, Simon was very good and very funny, but Jim as Sheldon was still number one and literally stole the show from Leonard who started as the main character. I can agree that Jim and Simon are both insanely talented. And Kaley was brilliant as Penny too. Johnny and the guy who played Raj (sorry I don't remember how to write this name correctly) are very talented too, so the whole cast was great. But Jim and Simon definitely were 2 of the best actors on the show, with Jim def being number 1.
Why not just do something by yourself instead of getting in the middle of a couple!
