  • QE2 says a final farewell to New York as we set sail in Tandem across the Transatlantic - she sailed alongside QM2 16th October 2008 each day the QE2 would swap from Portside to Starboard so that all passengers would have an excellent opportunity to view her magnificent lines.

So proud and happy to have been on board the QE2 during her last two crossings

I was aboard this final sail. When QE2 sounded her horns, the echoes where haunting-bouncing off the buildings of lower Manhattan and the towers of NJ's coast. I remember it being a bittersweet moment.

LOL I loved QE2's whistle...when that reverb starts, it's deafening and she lets you know who the REAL Queen of The Seas has been and always will be! I miss the ol' girl so much!

I was on QE2 Sept 2003 Eastbound then for Xmas I was on QM2 Dec 2004 when we met QE2 in the Carribean and "danced" with her for a while. Commodore Chris Wells was our Captain and I was honoured to have sat at his table. Today I cannot decide which ship I preferred, QE2 or QM2. Was just on QM2 last week.

The Fireboat saluting at the 1:00 minute mark (& which you zoom in) is the FIREFIGHTER, proud 1938-built William Francis Gibbs design. Same year the first QUEEN ELIZABETH was launched.

Yes, thanks form pointing this out. QE2 horn is far more distinctive than the QM2. The QM2 horn sounds like it's from a tin horn unlike the QE2 which is deep and resonant.

I like QE 2 better than queen mary 2 QE 2looks more beautiful on the outside I like the bridge back further from the bow makes the ship look nicer Queen marry 2 bridge is to close to the bow of the ship almost like a cruise ship were the bridge is almost on the tip of the bow

It's common knowledge that the QUEEN MARY 2 was built in France by Chantiers De l'Atlantique at St Nazaire! Are you trying to inform us something that the majority are aware of!

@@romakayak Anyone with the slightest interest in the QUEEN MARY 2 would know that she was built by Chantiers De l'Atlantique at St Nazaire, France.
The QUEEN MARY 2 arrived at her home port of Southampton for the first time from her builder's in St Nazaire France on a cold, wet and windy 26 December 2002. Her maiden voyage from Southampton to Ft Lauderdale commenced on the 14 January 2003.
It's fairly obvious that it's something that you have recently found out yourself!
I'm a member of a few online shipping site's with some extremely knowledgeable members including myself. I would have got more or less ridiculed if I was to make the same comment as yourself.
Anyone who has the slightest interest in shipping can find all the information required online. Even Wikipedia has an extensive library of information regarding the QUEEN MARY 2 and many other famous liners and shipping company's.
The QUEEN MARY 2 was completed by Chantiers De l'Atlantique at St Nazaire, France in December 2002, that's nearly 18 year's ago and your posting a question like you have and it is a question as you have added a "question mark" at the end of the comment.
Now considering your naviety, maybe you can answer three questions?
      1) Who built the QUEEN ELIZABETH 2 and where was she built?
      2) In what year month and day was the QUEEN ELIZABETH 2 officially handed over to Cunard Line.
      3) In what year month and day was the QUEEN ELIZABETH 2 officially handed over to Cunard Line after her major refit and transformation from steam powered to diesel powered?
Anyone with the slightest interest in the QUEEN ELIZABETH 2 or shipping for that fact should immediately be able to answer those three questions without having to do any online research.
