So Josh knows, if no one else has mentioned it, the singers with Maro were all female artists from Festival da Cancao that didnt win.. She brought them in on purpose to show solidarity.
Well, not all. She took some of the girls that sang with her in the final and 2 other contestants from Festival da Canção.
Serbia's song is much more than clapping, it's about Serbia's health system, actually, health system of all world. Its hard to understand but it has so much meanings. That's why it was 5th.

If you felt uncomfortable when watching her performance, that only means that she was able to convey the overall feeling of the song, which is alarming people about the importance of mental health. She looked stoic because it is a very important matter to talk about.

Yes definitely. Everywhere people are saying how robbed France were. People are also saying Spain would have won and not UK if Ukraine wasn't here because of the televote but do we know who people would have voted for instead of Ukraine. A lot of people voted for multiple countries but people might only be able to afford 1 vote and voted for Ukraine. Sweden could have won as well but it properly would have been 2nd to 4th place. Also Moldova could have stolen a lot of Frances point but I'm always gonna blame the running order

But i still think UK wins if the vote was more normal, because i think the spain fans didn't care much for Ukraine, so there is more points on the board for UK, and some of the undervoted ballads (Aussie and my surprise pick, Azerbaijan...)
I'm still happy Ukraine won cause it is genuinely my top 5, but the "what if" scenario is also very interesting... (Especially UK last to first)
France was really bad in my opinion.
@@RyanXander06 oh yeah I forgot about the ballads effecting eachother. But also if the war was happening we don’t know if europe wanted to party of have a emotional winner. Also the running order could have been different without Ukraine effecting where the qualifiers go. This meant the first half acts like France, Italy, Spain and Netherlands. Might not have been as squashed.
Sam had a privileged position to act and still did not stand out. However France, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands were in a poor position to act. According to the televoting score lists, the Spanish fandom did care about the Ukrainian song and they gave it 12 points.

I'm so glad that I heard and fell in love with the song Stefania before the war. Even before they initially lost Vidbir! I got to appreciate the song as it is before everyone just started seeing through the lens of politics.
I too was rooting for it at Vidbir & was upset it lost as I really didn't like Alina Pasha's song. Her rap ruined the song for me. I think that part would have been better in Ukrainian because I think her accent spoiled it.
Stefania simply blew my mind & I fell for the juxtaposition of the old & new, the use of traditional instruments & a very percussive rap. If it had been an Alina Pash type rap, it wouldn't have worked. Because of the language, non-Ukrainian needed something to hold their interest & Kalush Orchestra cleverly used their instruments & the percussion of the rap to do that. It's a very well written song. Even though I don't understand the lyrics, they moved me & that's what I want in a song. Ukraine was my winner from the start & it was the song to beat as others were released. The only 2 to come close were France & UK.
I think Ukraine probably won because of the war, but even without that, they would have been in the mix to win anyway
I liked everything about Italys entry, except from the finale performance, something really threw them off, they sound so off to me, and seeing other live performances, they sound so much better in them.

Eurovision is a music competition I would say. Mostly the total package counts. Not 'only' song, only voice, only songwriting, only performer. Everything counts although a big voice or something can be the highlight.
The waterfall is called Cascata delle Marmore and it's in Umbria region in the exact center of Italy, close to Terni, around 80 km north east of Rome. It's open only on saturday and sunday as in the other days the flow is diverted to generate electricity.

Australia is so underrated. Absolutely brilliant, sincere and fragile song and perfomance. I've never heard so accurate song about neurodivergency at a big stage and hardly ever related to anything like this. So beautiful

I told my niece last year (2021), her first year watching Eurovision, that she was lucky that the song she hoped would win did win because I’ve watched a lot of fans who’ve been watching way longer and either had to wait a long time for that or are still waiting. Her choice for this year (Spain) didn’t win, but her choice for the American Song Contest did.
I like how casually you say it’s your fourth time watching it. I do that and some of my friends are like “Why? You know who won!” I have tried to explain that I enjoy watching the performances, but these are the same friends that keep refusing to watch any Eurovision stuff with me anyways. Although because I use an iPod to play music in my car via a USB connection to the stereo, they do hear Eurovision (and now also American Song Contest) songs play whenever they ask me to drive them places. LOL

I like that you replied several times to him about things he mentioned you should do on your channel and you said, while being in good spirits about it, that some of your audience not liking it so you stopped. At one point I just had the memory of seeing CZcamsrs Dan & Phil’s world tour “Interactive Introverts” several years ago and their motto for it was “giving the people what they want” and after that any time you replied to him about ceasing something because of negative feedback from your audience I just heard their voices saying “because we’re giving the people what they want” and it just made me laugh right along with you.

Fun fact in Denmark 🇩🇰 we bike more than in the Netherlands 🇳🇱 another fun fact for non Eurovision fans is that all of us fans know ALL the songs in advance which means up to 5 months before the shows, so we sing along to every song, in Espãnol, in Italiano, in French, Serbian or other songs and countries we like in advance. Being Danish 🇩🇰 I always knows the lyrics to the 🇸🇪🇳🇴 and sometimes the 🇮🇸 songs eventhough Icelandic is pretty hard to understand. Its an oldnordic language so its not like 🇩🇰🇸🇪🇳🇴
In 2018 Hungary was my favorite song…..I knew the words and belted out my voice in the arena ( not understanding a Word of it) thats Eurovision

And Moldova was a ride! It was so fun: the bleachers were shaking because people were dancing and jumping so hard! Same was for Queen Konstrakta, the arena went NUTS.

I saw a video of the performance for the jury final of Italy and they were also perfect, so I'm inclined to say that the juries underrated them big time (so same procedure as every year, Italy never get the jury points they deserve). And while I think that their final performance is far from perfect I still enjoy it very much, because not every performance has to be perfect to be perfect. Raw emotions can impact a voice so I really don't mind a crack here and there.
It's funny to see that from 2011 to 2013, Italy was saved by the jury voting but since 2014 (except in 2016) the public saved Italy
So, I don't what happened with the fact That the jury "overrated" Italy from 2011-2013 & Now, since 2014, jury "underrated" them
Overrated & underrated are compared to the televoting & the final results
For example, in 2011, Italy was 1st far away from the second but got only 11th on the televoting and so, finished 2nd
So, Italy was overrated in The jury compared to the televoting but I don't mean That the song don't deserved to be that high
@@vavah2071 I should've clarified that by over/underrated I mean in my personal opinion. Personally I think the juries are important for the results and I actually like the system that is used to determine the results now. So, if Italy gets 100 points from the juries and 250 from the televote (just an example) they can be over- and underrated at the same time and the only deciding factor is your own opinion. So to clarify: in my opinion Italy was underrated in the last 7 years by either the juries, the televote or both. Other people might say that Italy is criminally overrated and that's their valid opinion.
@@Tollkirschenkind I know but I just mean That from 2011 to 2013 Italy was way better in jury voting than televoting but since 2014 (except 2016) Italy was (way) better in televoting than jury voting
So, it's not like some countries who are Always better in televoting (Poland) or Always better in jury voting (Australia or Malta)

Ochman indeed has the opera training. His grandfather is also a famous opera singer in Poland. And fun fact, Ochman actually grew up in the US but moved to Poland to pursue studies in singing here. He won The Voice of Poland in 2020.
My favourite songs of this year: Romania (he is a fucking king and song is really catchy), Switzerland, Norway (my sweetheart banana wolves), Ukraine (we know that they wins, but it’s amazing song and also catchy, because I sang it all day after contest), Lithuania (so elegant performance), Moldova (I really love Zdob si Zdub’s cover of Victor Tsoy’s song and this performance was one of the funniest on this competition), Australia (amazing voice, amazing singing).

I really liked this guy even when didn't agree with him. Your last comments intruiged me Alex - what have been your favs every year? I know 2018 was Mall (and yup it's a classic - it's on my Best of playlist - so is the chicken song but shoosh we'll whistle past that - alt taste exists and I know it's marmite) and last year was the second time you got your winner - the first being 2017 but intruiged to know what they were and if you liked the winners bar 2018 where I know you didn't. I've watched four contests this century - the first one I got what I wanted to win, the second I thought the winner was good, the third I got what I wanted too but I could have very easily lived with any number of alternatives including the jury winner. This year I got one of my favs and all the songs that were favs were left of the board.
You know what? Your question actually gave me an idea. Making a video with all my favorites vs all the winners in all the years that I watched.

About Laura pausini she is not only famous in europe but also in south america then one of her songs has been nominated for an oscar,nominated 2 times for Grammy Award 1 of which she won,won 4 Latin Grammy Awards and 1 Golden globe which is not bad at all for a non american artist then about eurovision it should be remembered that it is the biggest music program in the world born in 1956 to unite the various european countries in music.

Too many ballads this year for me and whilst I can appreciate Nadir and Sheldon's skills I admired their songs rather than liked them. I'm not a fan of Slo Mo as a song either - I get the performance is good but....it's not for me but then it doesn't have to be, it takes all sorts. Unlike one prat on line (not you Alex, easy tiger!) I'm not going to say there were 20 songs 'infinitely'better' just because it wasn't my thing and then list them and prove myself to be even more ridiculous doing it.

I like the series, but honestly - there's too much talking, talking throughout the songs, talking over the music, you're either super sensory multitaskers or you're not listening to the actual songs. It's a bit too much.

I find it disapointing that people follow hype. From all top placers only Moldova was not hyped prior competition. Serbia and Albania both were too overrated

Also I think I finally figured out what I don't like about Spain's performance (apart from the song, which is not for me): it's too manufactured, too perfect. Every note and every step is there, and I think it makes it incredibly boring to watch, because there are no emotions behind it, nothing to show that they really care. So I don't like like what everybody else loves about this performance, which is strange.
Same! I kinda wish it was a grower but it just never rose up my charts since ESC season. I wanted to understand and get what people liked but it just doesn't do it for me. Sweden's another country I love to tease about having bland songs but even Hold Me Closer had more feeling in comparison.
Agree! Ukraine did not have the best song! Plus, the green and red colors in Cornelias performans is because she sees colors when she sings and those are the colors she sees when she sings this song.
