Sit back, relax and watch 2 years of hard graft come together in 30 mins as I take this abandoned rust bucket and transform it into a track day weapon.
This is a 1959 Ford Anglia 100e with a modern twist, some may call it a restomod but I call it the Mongrel (Aka, The Mushy Pea)

I suffer from depression and find it hard to hold on to life but for some reason I watched this and as a petrol head, young man that is the best piece of work I have ever seen, made me smile inside 👍
Well I'm happy to have made you smile buddy. Depression sucks, try and keep your chin up. All the best. Matt

I am seeing this vedio for the first time. You guys are simply born to be welders and sheet metal fabricators. It all boils down to the passion you have for your job. Really great job. I salute to your team😊
Thank you. I have been doing bodywork and fabrication on custom cars for over 40 years. Finding someone that actually knows how to do metal work is so rare any more. It is truly an art form that is passing away. Most people don't have a clue. I hope you are able to pass on your knowledge to the next generation. Truly a fantastic piece of art. Best wishes to you.

20 years ago a wise friend once told me...if you have the machines and the materials you can build anything you want...!! Solid build brotha...💯😎🤙🏽🥰🙏🏽❣️
This might be one of the coolest builds I’ve ever seen in CZcams. Your fab work is amazing. And your attention to detail is on point. That paint color is also 10/10!

100% agreed on every point made!
You sir are absolutely incredible...I'm so blown away by your fabrication skills. You certainly have a talent buddy, beautiful job well done 👍🇺🇸
You, my friend, are an amazing welder/fabricator. Your skill level blew my away. You are a phenomenal talent.
Thank you for letting me watch you work, what a joy. I second the other comments. Great job.
The phrase that comes to mind when watching this video is “ do it once do it right.” Your fabrication work is second to none. Everything is purposeful and incredibly well thought out. I would consider this the same as watching one of history's greatest artists make their most fantastic work. People like Leonardo Davinci or Edgar Degas. I also say that your choice in music is wonderful and keeps the video flowing beautifully. My applause and respect to you Sir.
I will second the praise for quality work, especially in a small shop without $100k in equipment. DIY POWER!
Ehi!... I know it's a good one, a very good one but geez... Leonardo Da Vinci...C'mon...(Has inflation gone so widespread?)
@@banmadabon ... well, compare this to a number of lumpen grey water fodder that are growing like malignant tumours here on You Tube, and this is night and day. The video I'm offering in comparison to this is effluent - *below* - they put carpet down on top of structural welding, and call it done. This isn't about comparing a Degas or a Davinci to a Jackson Pollack, but my four year olds finger painting - and between you and me, there's only so many of those you keep out of love before they're balled up and binned ... 🤗 ... czcams.com/video/TUxzvnCXPKk/video.html
@@banmadabon Why not Leo Dicaprionado? It's a work of art, no? 😅
Matt you grew as a youtuber through this. You started off as an awesomely skilled fabricator, with a slightly awkward presentation style and ended up as an awesomely skilled fabricator and....... scratch the first comment ;-). Matt loved every minute of the honest bloke. Keep it up. Roll on 200k subs.
Awesome background music and coolest builds I’ve ever seen in CZcams.
He really loves what he is doing,it's not a project to him but passion for what is in his heart Realized in Metal...Thank you for this video
Amazing fabrication... wow, a "home" shop with a bending brake and a bead-roller as well as the usual electric/welding/cutting techno-gizmos.... Really, really impressive and refreshing to watch; thanks for sharing...
Génial
No lie I would kill for his tools
The best welding work I've seen so far. So detailed, refined. I'm in awe of this dude
I know right. I wonder what kind of Tig welder that was. Cause I want one.
As a time-served welder plater, I feel I must comment on this guys welding, it is FIRST CLASS. The making of panel bits too is FIRST CLASS.
All the work is first class. No more to be said, except well done.
I am blown away by your metal fabrication skills, you're the best, fantastic
What an amazing build! Love the car, the stance, the color, the way you’ve built everything together, your attention to detail and your wicked skills! Great job!!

I'd trust my life with this man's welding, it is a joy to see a master in his craft
I wish I was 1/10 as good.
As soon as I seen first welds I knew this will turn out amazing
It’s like that with any trade. Watching a master welder, drywall finisher, plumber or whatever. It’s alway a joy to watch someone that knows their craft.
@@williamsporing1500 yes indeed. I've sat and admired the handiwork of a few. A really fast roofer who still did good work, an old mason who was so efficient it was mesmerizing, a fish cleaner who made it look effortless, a butcher who knew his knife and how to use it, and a finish carpenter who couldn't seem to make poor cut. The sad part is those masters are becoming far too few. 😢
@@05Petedriver alas, you are correct. Nobody wants to work with their hands anymore.
When there is intelligence, technique and patience, the result is this amazing work.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL !!!😊
Hey man. I MUST SAY.... i take my hat off to you!! Your skills in fabrication and PATIENCE are NO JOKE.
Such an epic project. You hit some obstacles, but muddled through and got there in the end. I'm absolutely in awe of your craftsmanship. I know you'd probably rather gouge out your own eyes, but how about doing another one?
Thanks Brian, and yes I would rather gouge my own eyes out!

Nuff respect bro love yu wok
Aussie bloke...very nice work young fella. An idea or 2 for you.. making flatter welds on the bigger panels.. why far less grinding. By the look of what you are doing I'd guess .9 wire. each time you pull the trigger starting with a 2mm ball it makes big lumps. Cut wire each time at 45 degrees..contact size.. pin point. Angle nozzle 20 to 30 degrees across joint.. 2nd idea. Your right handed.. welding from right to left.. on thin stuff where trying to keep the heat out.. start on left side 30mm from end. Weld into corner. By then starting end will have cooled enough to run next 30mm weld onto last weld .. name for that is back stepping.. awesome work

Watching the mongrel being built while we was in lockdown saved my insanity, watching it again just reminded me how awesome of a build it is!!! 🔥🔥🔥
I'll second that cheers KC Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺
Absolutely!!
Aye - There’s you and Matt Green who's ups and downs got me back out there and working on my Herald. No doubt - I thought mine was a gonner for a while. But it’s back and I couldn’t be without it. And for what it’s worth, you played a part in that. So ****ing cheers for the part you played in that. Thanks for the journey.
I agree.
I just off to sell one of my kidneys.see you soon.
I was a Mechanic years ago, now retired. I passed me test with a 100E. I have worked on these and many more from that period. You young sir, are a very good Fabricator.
This is a skill that many would like to be able to do, but there are few who have the gift to do it right! Thank you for your Vid. Have a good one.
What a brilliant craftsman and ad hoc engineer...incredible...but the result is amazing...
There are 2 incredible builds in this country, Binky obvs, and this. Amazing it was to follow from the start, and a true master at his art. Thank you for this channel.
You should be so proud of yourself for seeing this thing through . The amount of work is berserk . I’m envious of your skill and dedication.
as a mechanical engineer, i am extremely impressed at your skill level, and what a great car you finally produced, i am however biased because i've owned two 100e Fords in the past and still love these little cars, job well done !!
Wow, some people have raw, unadulterated, talent. Such a wonderful gift. Life has been good to you.
I watched the whole build from the beginning.... watching this just reminds me of how much work went into it and how much I had forgotten the things that you did, brilliant recap
That is one of the most satisfying videos on CZcams, thankyou! Absolutely incredible workmanship, very cool project
Mate, you are a one man precision factory...absolutely brilliant work.
This car is stunning, what a transformation, you have an incredible skill mate
If every single panel in the car has changed, is it even the same car? Or is it something totally new, more than the sum of its parts.
Incredible skill 👍
A nice recap of the birth of Mushy Pea in the old cow shed.👌👍

Now that was flipping amazing. Awesome to see you enjoy the fruits of your labor. Truly talented man.
Truly an amazing build. The guy is a metal master! Fascinating to watch!
loved every minute of this, best welding ive ever seen
The filming and editing here is top notch. A number 1 presentation. All the fabrication + welding + lots of hours. A top video candidate.
Am hooked, a lonesome build, amazing, FANTABULOUS, you did the job of 10 people alone. Hats off to you.
Wow! This is fabulous.
Kindly raise others, so this treasure doesn’t vanish
A master craftsman at work!! Thanks for posting.
Having watched every episode of this build It is only when you see it all rolled into one that you realize the amount of work and welding that has gone into making this possibly one of the strongest old Fords on the planet, at least it will have the torsional stiffness no other ford has! A great job you should be proud of and get bucket loads of fun out of! Cheers for all your hard work and pleasure it has given many!
yeah, at the end of the world, all that will be left is a cockroach and the mongrel.

I've been with you from the start of "The Mongrel" Matt, you're one cracking engineer mate...
Freakin great video idea Matt!
Anyone seeing this video, and not the series, should just go and watch if not for the dedication alone. The amazing thing is how much I learned along the way and I am pretty sure others learned as well.
Your shirt and hoodie are great conversation wear. I treat it with respect and not worn in the shop. Now that I have my Nova complete (?), I wear them to the small gatherings we have in my area. I kick myself for not doing a complete wiring harness. It's in good shape but noticeably original with everything else being fresh.
Matt, Thanks again! I've been watching your Mini build but haven't commented. All get the Thumbs Up of course!
I thought "Another random guy puts on a body on chassis and calls it a day" The craftsmanship and metal fabrications this guy put on and finally mad lad took it to a track to race. Amazing!!!
You are amazing man... how much effort must have gone into this is unimaginable. And it would be a shocker for many to see the engine revving up and the speed on such a vintage piece!
Mongrel is one of the best builds on youtube. All done single handed too!
Хорошая мастерская, и руки золотые, мастеру поклон от всех, кто своими руками делает хорошие дела!!!!
Many projects are started but few are finished.
I know first hand the determination needed to keep going - respect due.
Matt this is amazing. Going to have to go back and watch the vids in full -- again !! Epic car, epic build.
What an awesome build! Well done sir, that looks incredible.
Love seeing old classics being brought back to life
Beautiful work , what a transformation. This car doesn’t need to win any race to be number one.
Thankyou Matt for sharing this build with us, I have watched all the episodes. It is great to watch a true skilled craftsman at work, the designing, machining, welding, all the other skills you display are truly a please to watch and lets not forget your dedication to the build and us viewers. This is my favorite CZcams channel. The quality of your work is top notch and your advice is straight forward and practical. Thank you.
WOW! The level of skill and workmanship in giving this old Ford a new look and drivability is truly amazing.
Thanks for this Matt. I watched all the originals from when you started. This is a great summary without all the blood, sweat and tears. I appreciate your work and your low-fuss presentation.
Love what you're doing here giving an old classic new life 🦾

Exquisite work. Inspirational. This young man is equally versed in all the different skills required for this build and that to an extremely high level. Well done!
Not only a very cool build but also well thought out and suburply skilled fabrication. Thanks for the inspiration.
I've never seen your work or channel before but it did pop up in my suggestions. I absolutely loved seeing that you are doing all of this on your own. Pulling the body up on the frame by yourself reminded me of myself when I was younger. You'd do it all on your own and if it wasn't possible you'd figure out a way to do it anyway. You did a fantastic job on this build. Wildly creative.
Happy to see it all over again. Just love your weldings! Never seen anyone doing better welds. Loved the whole video. Thanks for sharing this speed up summarium.
Fantastic job and so much love you put into the details. Almost 160 HP in such an old car. I bet most people will be suprised on the race track. Awesome.
Not sure which combination of videos I watched to get this in my suggested, but glad I did! Numerous times in this build I had to stop and rewind while saying WOW! Well done, sir. Well done!
Absolutely amazing. I’d love to have half the skills you have. What a car!!

Great to watch a true master of his craft at work. Many years ago I used to do what you do, but not to this standard, not even close. I enjoy watching Guy Martins programmes, and believe that you sir are well worthy of a tv series of your own. I'm glad I stumbled across this, thanks for sharing it.
It must be ridiculously satisfying to be able to plan and execute to a high standard a project like this, good choice of hybrid too.
What a great car. You are able to hit the sweet spot on every single discipline! Hats off to you, sir...🙏🏼
