I worked at creative asylum as the lead character artist, working on main model / animations / extra levels / extra cut scenes.
We were lucky enough to work with Minds eye who had no idea how to make a engine but handed us the project while they worked on the cut scenes.
We pretty much smashed this project so much we decided to make extra levels, which were considered like tony hawk score levels.
It was a good years work and we still reminisce over it, even for the lead coder wanting to convert it to unreal just so he can see it again in some new splendor.
The team sadly dispanded after we worked on BATTLEBOTS, which got canned by THQ because the rights fell through for the TV networks.
John Reynolds went on to work for UBI soft and then set up Tall studios.
While the graphics coder Simon O Conner actually went on to work for Unity, which wasnt surprising seeing as the game was built for Nvidia cards and was used in their examples.
The rest of us went on to work for local teams like Travellers tales (lego games)
Sadly last year one of designers Sam Donohoe passed away - We miss you Sam.
The additional cut scenes although looking (REALLY REALLY woodern) were actually a homage to the original pacman cutscenes on the arcades.
I actually used motion capture (from a mouse movement) to make them look like they where card board cut outs.
the other cut scenes still make me laugh as they end on the cusp of a serious injury to pacman.
Wow, that was pretty rad! Sorry to hear about Sam.....
one of my fav childhood games i remember playing it when i was 5 years old back in 2003 really wish there was a sequel or a remaster. with bonus content. love the game so much its definitely one of my fav games of all time. its a true pac man game.
@@kylajohnston130 thanks, sadly its was part of atari's miscillanious licenses combined with hasbro.
Since then namco well and truly reclaimed those lost licenses.
@@cousinmerl Well, we can hope that Namco re-releases it at some point in time. If you any of you still have the source code for the game, you might be able to offer it to them. I'd love to play this classic on something like the Switch
12:20 ITS JUST A BUNCH OF CHEAP WALK CYCLES!!
PAC MAN LIED TO US!!
Can you even call this walk cycles? They're not even walking.
The whole time all I could think was
"Pacman Arrangement" hi-resed all the between stage references. Both on Arcade/GBA/Museum and the PSP Remixes. So, what's your excuse Adventures in Time?
What a rip
@@SoshiTheYoshi *steam comes out of Nitro's ears as his face reddens* PAC-MAN BETRAYED US!!!
Those "comedy" clips remind me of the trumpet boy meme.
Pretty sure they are a direct reference to the old cutscenes in the Pac Man arcade games. Not sure why but y'kno
More like the trombone boy meme.
Speaking of, what about a trombone boy meme set to Grunty Industries?
@@ilikecurry2345 Rusty Bucket Bay. That's a tuba, but close enough for a meme.
Joke’s on you Rad Man.
I’d 200% your game for any clip involving Brady.
*e x a c t l y*
i like how you said "blinky approaching" in chills' voice and then said that message gave you chills
Number 15: Burger King Blinky Burger
*"Ihblblihblbiblbblihblabl"* - Prof. Pac Man.
lol
nice funny
All I can say is... fantastic
WHA-Pac man after listen that
First there was nothing...
Then there was our universe...
- Professor Pac-Man (in his Terence McGovern voice in the Pac-Man games of the early 2000s and also the greatest games in the franchise, Maze Madness and Pac-Man World 2)
I would totally 100% the Nitro Rad game just to unlock that clip of Brady smashing some plushies.
Oh my goodness. I played this game a ton as a kid and could never remember the title of it so I began to think that I made it up. Thank you so much for covering this and solving a longtime childhood mystery of mine.
This gives me emotions...
same
A game like this really should get a remake. This pac man game looks so damn good and its a shame its not on modern consoles or PC.
At least a gog release as nitro rad said.
AnimeWolfgamer An anime profile pic and a furry avatar at the same time? You must really love baiting people
I'd like to have some of these neat Stage ideas applied to a Pac-Man World Game.
@@codacious14 Same here. I literally became obsessed with Pac-Man.
i would be so fucking happy with a gog release I can't run this game on FUCKING WINDOWS 8 AND 10 and it runs flawlessly on Windows 7 microsoft sucks
I never knew there were so many 3D Pac-Man games
I remember when cereal box games were really rad, shame they don't do that anymore.
Also, a Steam version of this game would be awesome but it's unlikely, but it would be cool to see another Pac-Man game in this style again.
There was a charm to cereal box games.
I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I do have a couple of answers about the game addressed in the video.
In terms of the different difficulties, the ghosts become faster the harder the difficulty level is. It's not super noticeable until around Medieval A (the fourth time period you visit), but on hard, the ghosts are actually faster than Pac-Man by the time you reach Wild West B (the eighth time period), so that's when you need to be really strategic about eating power pellets and jumping. In addition, the frequency with which you're allowed to save is also changed. On easy, the game allows you to save after every level. On medium, you can save after the second and fifth maze of each time period. On hard, you can only save after every five levels. Finally, you start with five lives on easy, four on medium, and three on hard.
Difficulty aside, the first person mode actually has its own category on the speedrunning leaderboards, where you play through all 45 mazes in first person mode. Like it was stated in the video though, it'd be crazy hard to complete even one maze like this under normal circumstances, so you're also allowed (and strongly encouraged!) to use the invincibility cheat during runs. Otherwise you'd be dying way too frequently to warrant it.
That "Pretty sick 100% Nitro Rad" video probably took more work than all of the "Comedy Clips" combined. I could've made all them myself in under 10 minutes with MS Paint.
Finally, one I’ve played. I remember LOVING Pac-Man World 2 as a kid, and since my mom was a teacher at my elementary school at the time, I’d usually stay with her after school until she’d wrapped up her teaching business. While I was waiting, itching to get home and play World 2, I’d play this to keep my Pac-Man fever going. The monster in the pre-rendered intro still haunts me to this day. 😂
I remember watching my grandpa play Pac-Man World 2 when I was a kid and even started playing it myself, good memories
Yooo, dude, I had this as a kid! It's weird because I can usually identify the stuff I used to play like instantly, but this one must've been a really deep memory because I only fully realized it when I saw the three Pacman balloons when Multiplayer was highlighted on the menu.
For some reason, THAT'S what stuck with me about this game- the weird balloon menu thing. Go figure.
If a game isn't being sold, it technically isn't illegal to pirate as it's classed as abandonware.
Just pointing that out, that's all.
Great video.
Abandonware is not freeware. It's still technically illegal, but no one has a way to enforce it so whatever.
it can only be enforced if you try to buy or sell it.
you can emulate the game, but its safe as long as you try not to make profit off the ISO or buy the ISO file off of someone.
Is that why Nintendo keeps repackaging and selling its old NES games?
I remember getting this game in a cereal box as a kid. This was the first game I ever got actually addicted to. The ending stages were SO hard! My parents had to introduce a 1 hour rule on the computer because I played it too much.
Those were the days hahaha
Down here, it was given away for free in boxes of LCM's (Rice Bubbles bar)
Man, I have so many childhood memories with this game. Such a gem.
Oh shit the Pac is back!
Meta Shade hey you're the person from the Kirby lore meme on twitter
And now I had a heart attack
no
Oh shit, here comes Pac-Man!
🤦🏼♂️
Oh boy, Infogrames, the company had it's logo on alot of games in Europe, mostly european licenses like "Asterix & Obelix" or "The Adventures of Asterix" (which funnily enough had it's own Mario Party esque game but only with 16 minigames).
From what I know Infogrames bought alot of companies from England in the past, and even bought Atari's copyright, when that was up for grabs and thus later due to the power of that name, used "Atari" instead of their old rainbow amadillo logo when publishing games.
I was surprised when I saw the Atari logo on "Eternal Darkness" and thought, hey this company is still alive? But no, it was just a different company using that name for brand recognition.
I think I played Lucky Luke and Smurf games published by them.
Probably aren't going to stick around much more longer either, if one looks at their current situation.
14:37
Ah yes, invincibility making a game too easy.
Not a concept one would think of, now would they?
I loved this game as a kid, and I was super thrilled to see you reviewing it! I played it a lot at my grandmother's house whenever I visited, and I have many fond memories of it. The cylindrical and cube levels were definitely the most memorable parts of it.
I remember watching the commercial for this game on Cartoon Network as a kid. Pac-Man jumping at the screen gave me so much nightmares, even to this day.
Watching gameplay for this made me sad I didn't buy it as it looked really fun for a western developed Pac-Man game.
Those "Comedy Clip" videos gave me a short lived chuckle, since they reminded me of the cutscenes from BattleBlock Theater, where they did a similar moving cutouts thing for most of them but the player would actually WANT to watch them with how they were handled! That and William Stamper as the narrator in BBT and the writing put into not just the cutscenes, but the game too! If you played BattleBlock Theater, you might see what I am referring to.
Man this is so nostalgic. I haven't played this game since I was a kid!
A Pac In Time

2000: Now we will have so much servers it gonna be great
2019:
*_theirs litteraly no one playing_*
Lmao
"That big ol' flashing 'Blinky Approaching' kinda gave me chills"
The way you said Blinky Approaching. Ha! I see what you did there
The time Warp is more reminiscent of Wario Land 4's level entry cutscene in my opinion
I was about to say the same thing.
As far as I can tell, the "Comedy Clips" are meant to be... """Recreations""" of the occasional mini-scenes one could see in older pacman games.
The difference I've noticed with the difficulty change was the jump bar and how fast it fills back up. Oh and save states
I got this game in a box of Rice Bubbles when I was a kid, I loved the ever loving Pac-Hell out of it, so fun and so good
That Brady clip actually got a chuckle out of me. Great review in general!
Love your content man, not enough CZcamsrs cover these kinds of games.
Why are you just so nice to watch? Really genuine guy! Keep up the amazing work :)
the scream at 13:49 is what made it worth it.
I'm imagining a parody of that Comedy Clip in which he becomes large and makes the knight ghosts into ghostly pancakes - it's a part of an ego-inflating sequence sung by Air Man, and he flattens some other wind-affiliated robots in the process.
blinky approaching/chills was one of the most clever jokes i've heard all year
ALSO your parody of the "comedy clips" are 10 times more comedic than the actual original comedy clips.
fuckin good on your man. great review.
A nitrorad video on my birthday! This is great
Man, I loved this game. I used to play this all the time and I wish I still had a copy.
Almost 100k subs! When I started watching your vids 6 months it was half that! You're going places young man😉
I just realized that you are wearing a boundary break shirt! Neat!
That was actually a pretty good reward. The nitro rad video game was super hard and all that effort put forth to 100% it was definitely worth it. 10/10 would do a flip.
I know you were making fun of the cutscenes but that clip you did of Jibanyan in a chicken outfit attacking the other plushies genuinely made me laugh. Much more than the comedy clips in Adventures in Time.
Your level of professionalism is always so pleasing. Super consistent video format and fair commentary, as well as giving wholistic reviews that aren’t just bashing or making fun of games. Keep up the good work!
it took me til 10:46 to figure out that he was wearing a boundary break t-shirt. I think that's awesome!
Found your vids from the rayman collab with antdude, you have earned a sub :)
8:52 Oh my goodness, Waterwraith... I used to binge-play Pikmin 2 a lot back then, and while I do remember some bits, I DEFINITELY remember that beast. I was so scared the first time, I didn't even know what to do and I don't even remember what happened afterwards! WHY IS IT THERE? WHAT IS IT? WHERE DID IT COME FROM?
02:50 I never thought I'd see Infogrames working on a Pac-man game.
If you want to know, they're from France.
And apparently, they are known to be involved in really hard licenced games from the 90's.
Yes! I had this on PC as a child, and was waiting for this video!
Honestly the rewards in the Nitro Rad video game were pretty underwhelming, but completing the Brady% challenge did give a very rewarding, well, reward.
i can finally make a joke
pac man more like
smack man
mac pan
Nam-cap
spank my man
dank man
space jam (man)
Jokes on you Nitro!! I thought that clip with Brady was way better than anything in Pac-Man: Adventures in time!! XD
AND I looked it up online, so I didn't even have to put in the effort to 100% your video game!! XD
Given that I have been subbed to you for sometime, I don't have to complete your game. :P
This game is incredibly nostalgic for me and I'm glad that somebody finally talked about it
This legit looks fun with the obstacles, traps, and different levels and jump. Love the added costumes.
eyyy a game from my childhood! one of those instances where I felt like I was one of few people who actually had/ remembered this game!
While Hasbro is now well known for My Little Pony: Friendship is magic, a lot of these games were a fan favorite of mine back in the day!
Hedz, Any of the board games of that time, Glover, Even Frogger 2 was something I loved!
Nitro, I know it's a shot in the dark, but if you ever happen to do a Donkey Kong Marathon or a Hasbro Interactive Marathon, expect me to donate a fuck-ton of your content.
Today they are known for litigating the fan-loyalty out of everything 😁
It took an entire Pacman review series to help me remember that I used to play this on pc! I completely forgot about it, but it's all coming back to me.
Thank you I didn't think you would actually review it even after I brought it up
Dude I'm so glad I found your reviews they're so good
So good that he was even fair towards a gem as underrated as Adventures in Time!
That cylindrical level was hell for me as a kid.
The Chills reference. Oh my god.
It must be a very important quest if Professor Pac-Man can’t even describe it
He spittn
That 100% nitro game vid cut was so definitely worth it
Hey bud thanks for the upload
Thank you for reminding me of my favorite pc game from my childhood
So a old packman game that doesn't have many moments needing movement momentum yet still had it unlike sonic frontiers
I CANT STOP WATCHING UR VIDS
Man, I remember playing this game back in the day... I thought it was pretty tight but Maze Madness was my jam! I put way too much time into that one.
I have so many vivid memories of playing this game as a kid with my sister.
His reaction seeing the bonus cutscenes is still genuinely really funny
This and frogger 2 swampys revenge were some of my origins for arcade style games and platformers-right next to super mario sunshine and sonic adventure 1 and 2...damn i feel old
This was my absolute FAVORITE game when I was a kid.
Your "Cahmedy Clip" was actually good.
Good god this was a blast from the past for me, no pun intended. I grew up playing this time and time again, and good lord do I have a ton of nostalgia for it, gives me chills everytime I hear some of the themes.
And to answer your question at 9:08, the classic ghosts are slightly faster, just enough to out speed Pac-Man, but also are immune to power pellets
Loved this game as a kid! I got up to the last level and never finished it when I was younger.
Holy crap, I used to play this game on an ancient demo disc that had pinball, this, and FAKK 2.
I honestly thought the demo was the only version of this game that existed.
This game and pacman 2 the new adventures were always my favorite of the series.
My god that submerged castle reference, also another good Pac-Man game, nice.
nice haircut bud, congratz on the growth, keep it up.
Still, after all these years this game is awesome.
Man I still need to get this game!
Pac-Man in his time traveling adventure?
Great Scott! We've gotta send him *back to the future!!*
Man, this game is still nostalgic for me, watching my older sister play it and taking turns
Man, simpler times
Man, I played this so long ago! Man, this was before I ended up... ruining... our old pc...
Good times. Good game!
Walking on Silicon Knights is exactly what Dennis Dyack did when he greenlit X-Men Destiny.
Mr. Rad! Has anyone told you that you have a perfect radio voice?
Totally true. I use his Rayman 1 review during my English lessons for pre-intermediate students. Better than Oxford textbook listen exercises :D
cau ja som slovak bro
Ondřej Hroníček That's cool
no need to speak english lol so you're a teacher?
No, I am a molecular biology student and a lab technician, I teach Czech, English and sometimes math for pupils as my part time job :D
I use his video when I teach teenage boys, expecially Rayman is great cause he speaks slower compared to newer videos and he uses good vocabulary to revision in the video. It was his first video I have seen, too. I have some questions and we usually talk about games the rest of the lesson. In all videos he has very natural, understandable accent and his voice is pleasant to listen. Actually I can't forget when I have seen Rayman video for the first time, I a little fell in love to his videos. :D
Holy crap! I played this a lot as a kid. It's the one Pac Man game I actually had!
Funny. My cousin had this one too. We would burn the game on to a CD (back when you could do that). I'm pretty sure we lost that copy, so I'll see if GOG plans to release it.
Ahh! I remember this game! I had a lot of fun playing that when i was a kid. Being a Pac-man fan in the early 2000's was a treat since they did quite a bit with him in that era. When Smash Switch comes, since Namco is involved thanks to that ex-employee tweet i hope they expand on the smash bros trophies for the pac-man universe.
Boundary break shirt? I see you're a man of culture as well
I played this over and over and over as a youngster
This game was my childhood :)
almost at a 100k subs buddy!
I remember Minds Eye productions!!!!
They made a few Thomas the tank engine PC disc games such as Trouble in the tracks & Thomas Railway adventures
I got this in a packet of LCM's which are like the Australian version of Rice Krispy treats.
Nice.
Mobil 1 Rally Championship was developed by Magnetic Fields - Creative Asylum also was responsible for that game, but as it was stated in the credits, CA did "Additional Programming and Art". M1BRC was done by Magnetic Fields and 7 guys from CA, so crediting Creative Asylum for all the work is kinda a lie
Anyway, great video as always, keep up the great work!
Cheers from Poland!
"100%-ing it is a BAD idea"
What, unlocking Classic Maze legitimately? Done.
One of my first pc games and I loved it
This game was a huge part of my childhood, I used to play it all the time but eventually, I lost the disc. Anyway, I found your commentary on the classic ghosts interesting because the whole "_____ is approaching" thing used to terrify me.
