Game theory says that the optimal play, assuming a negligible board-state and an opposing Mystic Remora, is to feed the fish. If no one feeds the fish, then you can presume that none of the Remora's Opponents advanced their board-states (casting creatures advances board states, but most cEDH decks are like 60-40 spells-creatures, so it's easier to simplify here), in which case the Fish player gets to continue to advance his board state while slowing the game down (just like stax). This means he still gains an advantage. If the opponent is going to get an advantage anyway, then you should gain as much of an advantage as you can, in hopes that you become just as resource-rich as the Fish player. In this way, it becomes a 1 vs 1 rather than a free-for-all with you having been slowed down.

It makes sense to leave in the mistakes because i dont think ive played a single edh game where someone makes a mistake, and i usually let people back peddle a little if everyone agrees to it
I agree, it's sometimes helpful for me to learn through witnessing the mistakes. It's a fine line to walk, making sure those errors did not change how the game ultimately ended. I appreciate the hard work put into each episode for that reason.

Wow that second game was absolutely beautiful. I'm not a big fan of the Breach, but the amount of foiled attempts to combo off in such short succession was amazing to watch :)

Thrasios is so overwhelming, winning by infinite mana and himself.
We just in-house banned the damn card. Since none of us are pros I guess it will take a while before we find a comparable efficient engine.
Bâtard Glouton there is no comparing to thrasios. He’s just the best card to dump infinite mana into, period. Not even walking ballista has the versatility that Thrasios has
@@somedudeontheinterwebs45 Urza??? But problem is that green gives access to Seedborne so you don't even have to go infinte
DArtis Wright totally forgot about urza. However Urza is mostly playable as a commander, while thrasios not only can provide UG in the command zone, but can also fit in the 99 as a value engine.

Love the episode, love the show! It didn't affect anything in the long run, but in game 1, shouldn't the Vial Smasher have triggered on the Mox Amber instead of on the Jace?

How you casting that jace? Triple blue and mox amber only taps for colors of legendary creatures and planeswalkers you control.

Nate would still get priority between each thrassios activation to kill him. Priority always goes back to the ACTIVE player, which is Tyler. Then priority passes in normal order.
i really appreciate that i am not the only one who uses Pokémon energy cards for floating mana
Have you guys ever done an episode on what 1 colour commander is the best by its colour? Like only mono green decks?
They made 4 monocoloured commanders fight each other if that's what you mean

how did you play jace at ~4:20, you only had 2 blue mana in lands and artifacts (should've tapped your BoP)
The vial smasher should have triggered on the mox amber in the first game instead of the Jace
The damage of Vial was the mox amber because was the first spell he cast on that turn

Why does allosaurus shepard see play? Only giving green spells protection with an ability that I have never seen used in a 4 color deck seems bad. What about protection for creatures and enchantments on a 2 cmc 2/3 that is currently in standard, that seems much better in that slot. Or even teferi's protection

Might be wrong here, maybe you only can't count things like suspend cards.
yeah lions eye actually has a 0 mana cost, whereas lotus bloom doesn't have one at all

@@eliluttrell7637 The zero cmc suspend cards have a cmc less than two so you could imprint and thus copy them... If any of them were instants.

7:45 I once won a casual game with my Tatyova deck through a Notion Thief by doing this. The Yuriko player somehow didn't have any instant speed interaction to stop me from decking them.

Mox diamond wouldn’t work for Cam game 2 because all his lands would enter the battlefield from thrasios, unless he had a land in his land before he drew his whole deck

So this makes me sound like a noob, but I never knew misdirection could be made to make a counterspell retarget misdirection itself instead of the original target.

It's a weird, unintuitive interaction. Totally understandable that you wouldn't have thought of it before.
redirect spells like Misdirection are how colours like black and red get to do things in counter wars. Deflecting Swat and Imps Mischief are essentially counterspells if there's already a counter on the stack
Doenst phantasmal image enter as, so you cant flicker something in response and fizzle it as he can still choose it as it resolves
It does enter as a copy of gilded drake, but the trigger that exchanges control of creatures targets, so he flickered in response to the trigger, not the copy.

1:50, misdirection can’t change target of guardianship if there is no other valid target, and because mis has to resolve from the stack to change guardianshios target mis won’t be on the stack as a target for guardianship. :/ if I’m right that’s a huge misplay.

Misdirection can redirect guardianship to misdirection. Once that resolved the guardianship attempts to counter misdirection instead but misdirection is not on the stack so guardianship fizzles.
So I might be wrong and it’s not very important to the outcome but wouldn’t Cameron not get the vial smasher trigger the turn he cast Jace because he cast a mox amber first which has 0cmc? Lmao

Verdant Catacombs can't get tundra
That Oracle won him the game because even though you submerged it to the top of his deck the E TV still triggers and his devotion to blue was too he had one card in library so he wins read bosse Oracle
not really, when the ETB resolves it sees the devotion on the battlefield and since it's 0 and he has 1 card in library he doesn't win the game

Sorry but turn 1 land go is simply not good enough for Blue Farm. Go take a mulligan Nate and grab some fast mana to power out Ad Naus or Kraum at worst! Game 2 the same. Feed the Fish here, your opponent has a Crypt and Signet, so he's extremely likely to let that remora stick for forever because he plays Yidris and needs the colors.
