I want to know your opinion on chiropractors doing the twisting motion... I don't see how that's beneficial in ANY way, ESPECIALLY w/o an x-ray, CT or MRI.. they can usually do well with my back but I have to tell them to not touch my neck, repeatedly I might add..

Hello! Thank you for your great videos on neck problems. I've a lot to say about joint pain in the neck! But my question is this. If we have joint pains in the neck due to muscle or posture problems, what is the best way to "warm up" the neck for sports activities which make neck problems more painful. Rather than just rolling your head around on the neck randomly, and if we feel it's not the time or place to go through a full set of stretches such as in the video - how can we get the neck, or neck muscles ready for sport? Surfing involves a lot of neck turning and strain which really makes pain problems worse. Is the best thing to run through the routine in the video, the isometric or pushing stretches? How would you or how do you prepare your neck for sport of any kind? Thank you so much.

I have to add, I have a very old stretching routine I do at night to try and help with neck joint pain, I've never done pushing exercises, just tried it slightly- feels great, very very different! I really want to incorporate all your neck videos and do one longer routine. Really looking forward to doing that, thank you thank you thank you!

@@lincolnyeti Isometrics work great as a warm-up before doing sports activities.

Yes, I need to know if there's any way I can self-release the scoliosis I have. I have a hard time sitting or standing upright without pain and it affects my shoulder and hip (the way my body corrected.)
When my chiropractor "fixed" it, I could lay on my back with comfort and I didn't realize my back was the reason I hated sleeping on my back if that makes any sense.
I feel completely powerless and no position I get in is comfortable. I need relief. Please help.

I woke up with some extreme neck pain today and was thinking it'd just go away but after not being able to bear it anymore I searched for solutions, found this and after doing the side bending stretches a few times the pain was almost gone. Did it a few times more and now it's like I never had a problem, the pain, and stiffness, has fully disappeared. Simply amazing.

This is easily the best, most practical advice that I have ever heard/seen, when it comes to proper treatment of the neck. What I appreciated the most was that you took the time to first show what not to do then what you should do. I was pleasantly surprised by you using isometric techniques, in all four circumstances.
I feel like this needs to be basic training for every single human being on the planet. This is an outstanding video. The thumbnail is a definite attention-grabber and always puts a smile on my face, when I see it.

I have constant headaches which the cause is known to be from neck muscles. Though I alone got some of the exercises right through long experience trying to pin point the right spots and movements for stretching it efficiently, having this video not only confirmed the right stuff but added a little bit of finesse that I was lacking. Also learned more about what exercise really do, where , how and when should be used. It was very revealing as always. Thank you Dr. Rowen!

I see so many comments about how these stretches helped people get relief right away, so I'm going to keep doing them and hopefully they will eventually help. This is the worst neck pain I've ever had.

The neck twisting also causes *ligamentous* damage which can lead to an unstable neck which will manifest in lots of shoulder spasms, pain, and if severe enough like what happened to me, Meniere's Disease symptoms. Doctor, today I know that God guided me to your video. Thank you!! I live in Japan, where you can find -mostly good- quick neck massage places almost everywhere, and the same with acupuncturists. The massage and the acupuncture relieve the neck tension but only for a few hours. Your video is pure gold!! Now I can do it here at home every day!! Thank you and God bless you.

Dr. Rowen, I suffer from Bell's Palsy. It has healed somewhat but my right eye really dries out and has difficulty focusing. I find some stretches really helps. Your video is really interesting. There is some really good stretches and exercises. Can you recommend any stretches and neck exercises that could help my eye sight? There is still some numbness on the right side of my face and neck.

Thank you for the video! I was wondering what it means when stretching doesn’t really help with the pain. I’m having trouble looking or tilting my head to the left, so I already can barely do any of these going to the left… but then when I do the ones going to the right, it makes it worse! What do I do?

I wish there was an easy way to know exactly which of these I need the most, so I could focus on getting many reps done of just one exercise each day in spare moments, before adding additional ones. After years of chronic tension headaches and upper body tension, where nothing ever seems to help, and with a busy life and time management problems from other conditions (like adhd and a sleep disorder), it is very difficult to find time, energy, and presence of mind to build a strengthening routine. I tend to try stretches like this mostly while I’m already having bad pain.

Adding the one at 6:00 to my normal neck routine over the sitting-on-the hand kind of method, definitely more effective! Been doing the armpit sniffer for a while too with the "next-level" adjustment - this can be done with a very gentle neck rolling motion too to get some extra stretch in the other parts of your neck. Focusing on these two in particular has yielded great results!

@@Razo20 wish i could remember the exact videos, but the stretch he goes over where you basically raise an arm, cover your shoulderblade on that side with your hand (doesnt gotta be the whole hand), turn your head away from that raised arm, then lower your head down towards your armpit. That one helped me a lot with overcoming one side being super stiff/painful, but just be careful and dont push yourself.

These were incredible. Helped really loosen up my tight neck. Couldn't really look over my shoulder at all. Made driving painful. Quick question. On some of these, I get a zing of pain on the insides of my shoulder blade(s). Does this indicate I'm doing something incorrectly, or is it possibly just a cascade affect?
