Fully agree on the excessive perfume comment. I live in Eastern Europe and holy shit sometimes when I pass people on the street it's like they poured the whole bottle on their heads before leaving home. It's even worse when I run into people like that on public transportation, it's as gagging as someone who's running around unwashed during the summer.
Count Dankula has a more detailed video on the German cannibal guy. He would have gotten away with it too! If it wasn't for the fact he enjoyed it.

Yes Jack, Ambergris is harvested from beached chunks of whale vomit that has solidified. That or it is extracted from stomach bile of whales
the "ningen" myth was false, ningen means people/human, so somebody probably read/heard about ningyo but failed to recall the name and defaulted to ningen
so it's a misunderstanding, the real human-fish monster is ningyo, its a misnomer or whatever you call it
I have a neurological condition that is triggered by perfumes, so I totally feel you on hating it. If somebody is wearing particularly strong perfume I go blind and experience aphasia. To people around me it looks like a stroke.

Ambergris absolutely comes from whales and is still used in perfumes today, although the few that has natural ambergris are very expensive and uses "humanly harvested" ambergris. Essentially whales sometimes vomit and the stuff floats ashore where you can collect it without harming the whales. You don't need much for a bottle of perfume so even if you only find 2-3kg of the stuff on a beach it lasts for a lot of bottles so the industry is still possible but very expensive by todays standards.

Body spray abusers in public genuinely enrage me. Super disrespectful to the people around you. The smell of axe spray in a locker room gets way too powerful and is an assault to your senses.
