QOTD: ⚡The thinness engineered into the DUN FOLD design is impressive with high quality. Are there other wallets are you aware of that match what we see here?
A similar thing is Ashland Leathers ‘JR Fold’ that I have. However it is a simple piece of Shell Cordovan that I wanted so the price is higher for what you get. More a custom request than a full on wallet. It’s only for cash notes and a couple of cards. Feels and smells great though 😂👍🏻 (starts out as a flat piece that has to mould twice for the wrap around)
They have a bifold version too! It seems really nice!
@@jl25735 Yes, they do! It's has essentially the same functions, but in a bifold. I have it and should put it in the review cycle soon. I do like how it handles currency better than the Fold.
All these wallets Mark which one do you actually use personally, I use bellroy hide & seek billfold
That's a decent wallet. I like the simplicity of it, nothing too fancy or gimmicky. Does what a wallet is supposed to do.
The slim footprint, classic black colour and fine leather are also very appealing.
I appreciate it'll break in over time, but the way it just explodes open... 😆
I didn't know this channel existed until I was on ebay, decided to search the wallet type on youtube annnnd, wala!! Thanks a bunch!!
I am SO happy with this wallet-while the wallet does burst open at first, it has settled in quite well. As it’s been pointed out, one can safely include 1-2 additional cards in the pass-through slot, as they are completely secure when the wallet is closed.
I would also recommend folding both sides of the cash over the middle pass-through before folding the wallet over.
Now that I’ve had it for a while, I can comfortably put 6-8 cards (depending on thickness of cards) and about 8-10 bills and it’ll stay closed on it’s own. It could probably hold even 1-2 more cards and 5+ additional bills, but it would no longer stay closed at that point. And I LOVE the fact that it accommodates all forms of currency.
I would say it’s absolutely worth the price-cannot imagine a more efficient minimalist wallet!!
Thanks for the insight Ari, great to hear it's working so well for you!
Awesome! Nice review, always wanted to know
Thanks for watching!
hoho finally you reviewed the DUN fold.
IMHO the best minimalist wallet and I am still using it now since their kickstarter launch so about 3 years.
It is suppose to be a super minimalist wallet max 3 cards and max 3-4 large denomination notes (emergency use only) as nowadays is all contact-less or mobile virtual cards (more so due to Covid19) so you don't have that "burst open" problem.
Not for those that carry lots of cash or cards.
Agreed, it forces you to trim down what you might normally carry, although another owner said he's got it up to 9 cards, including using the inner cash passthrough as a card slot 😁
I like this one I must say. Minimal carry with space for cash 😀👍🏻
The fact it's a usable trifold that's incredibly thin with quality leather makes it stand out for me.
@ Mark. A great review as always. It’s a beautiful wallet and the quality of leather is good . I got it today and put 5 cards in it and 5 slips of Euro’s . It handled it quite well , i thought it’ll need some time to break in, but its holding it quite well. Put in under a book and it conforms quite quickly. No issues in getting the cards in the slot. 4 inside and one outside for the tap feature. I checked the outside , it is not rfid protected which is a plus and a few wallet companies like Vaultskin are not able to do it. The inside is fully RFID protected. Overall quite satisfied with the wallet. One can put 6 cards easily and if needed in the cash slot a couple of cards can also be put in.
Just a CORRECTION . The wallet weighs 32 g . And the dimensions are 3.5 * 2.4 * 0.3” ... ( 90 * 60 * 7 mm ) . This further makes the wallet to have a smaller footprint. Hope people enjoy it.
Thanks for the information and correction! It's always great to hear from those who use the wallet!
hey mark. good video as usual. I do use this as my daily driver and actually once the leather becomes soft from usage each inner slot can take around 3 cards and the outer can take 2. however I do want to point out a trick that you can use the cash insertion ridge for another card so a total of 9 can be placed. It is really good and happy with with it. but as usual thank you for your beautiful content. my utmost respect to you.
btw the ZNAP also is a beautiful wallet to review
Thanks for sharing! Great tip, thanks Saad!
You should try doing wallet teardowns, where you take the wallet apart to see the inner materials
You say that almost on queue! In a couple weeks we have a video releasing where I do a tear down of the Andar Pilot v2 wallet, it's a very cool mechanism on the interior. We like the idea, so what other wallets would you like to see taken apart?
walletopia maybe some of those Wallets that claim to be of the highest quality, or maybe some of those interesting wallets you’ve reviewed. Anything you want to
Hey mr mark. Thank you so much for your hard work. I’ve been enjoying watching your videos. I really wish that you can do a carry test on the stow wallet and if it’s going to scratch the sides of the cards or not, and if it’s possible to put other currency bills in the business card compartment and how many would they be as well as normal cards how many cards could it hold. Thanks a lot ❤️.
I’ve had several requests around that so I’ll do the carry test!
hi came across your channel as im looking for a wallet and was trying to find a review of the dun fold, having seen their website
looks really nice
what's the view on the cash strap - this is the only ting that seems a bit awkward/inconvenient to me
prefer to have the area into which cash can be inserted
A pretty cool design I’ve seen is the Johnny Wallet by Loyal Stricklin. I would love to see your review on it!
Thanks Michael, the Johnny review has been recorded and will be up in a couple week!
Thanks again Mark. I have the other one, the DUN billfold. I also love the quality of the leather and build. But I had a gripe about part of the design when it was fully loaded. It might need some quality time to fix. The issue is around whenever the wallet is fully closed. Not like yours tho lol.
The layout for cards are landscape versus vertical and there's that interesting "v" overlay for cash since it's a bifold. What's happening in the operation that's odd?
@@walletopia The wallet doesn't close cleanly. It needs some extra leather where the billfold folds when loaded.
Nice that the design takes the hassle out of folding bills into thirds, so this helps keep the thinner profile. For whatever reason, i think the "D" branding in the middle of the front seam look really bad, though.
Love the thinness.
Try Nivisto from Australia. The wallets are made from kangaroo leather. Very strong and super thin. I have owned the Annandale (minimalist card holder with cash slot) for a few years and have the Redfern (trifold) on order now
Thanks for the tip! We have a few Australian made wallets, one with Kangaroo, super durable and thin!
DUN is not a one hit wonder, I've had their billfold wallet for years, this is the second wallet they have released. Their wallets are quality, a bit overpriced but I think worth it.
Great wallets for sure, but for how many years they've been doing this we would normally see a product line expansion, which I would hope they would do based on the great design and success of these two wallets.
I kind of like this wallet. Sleek and functional...
*after seeing the price*
....my God...
Best wallet of all time is still the flip side 4 lol
Thanks for the video mark. Did you find loading and unloading cash to be an awkward process with this wallet?
Thanks!
No, I felt it was actually very easy.
Great review as always, I just ordered one as I hadn´t seen this before and it´s perfect for my daily usage of a wallet. You had one mistake in the video though, this is actually their second wallet. They have the Dun Wallet bifold, funded on Kickstarter in 2015 and then the Dun Fold trifold in 2017. And they also sell a Dun Duo on their site which is for storing your passport etc.
Thanks André, I thought the trifold was first 👍
I've owned two DUN wallets, the first one lasted me about 5 years before it started coming apart, my second one is about 5 years in and going strong. They're well-made for what they are, but I think there's an upper limit to the lifetime of any wallet this thin just due to the durability of the raw materials. The rubber coating was the first to go, then eventually the stitching. I've found that if you stuff 2+ cards in each slot it'll stretch it out, so if you go back down to 1 card it's liable to slip out, but that's just physics. I'm not the biggest fan of the metal logo, I'd prefer a leather stamp but that's a small quibble. Overall I think this is a great option and it does everything you need it to: holds cards, holds cash, looks great, and I can barely feel it in my pocket (unless I stuff it full of bills).
Thanks for your experience!
@@walletopia Thanks for all your reviews! Just pulled the trigger on a Stock & Barrel No. 52.
Have you reviewed the Dun wallet? It's a billfold model! What do you think about that one? I ordered it
after a disappointment with the Ekster 😔 I think it could be a good competitor against the Mitchell money clip wallet and the Farrah wallet
We did a review on the DUN Fold, czcams.com/video/Q8P1d_Yqbm8/video.html
Nice wallet to own but dislike the pricing and the burst open effect hahaha...
Yes, little pricey, but I expect that once the wallet breaks in a bit it will sit like a good little wallet😀
just ordered the Dun and Dun fold wallets a week ago. Gotten an email 2 days later that they have been shipped. Asked for a tracking number but no response. Technically speaking from a business response/customer experience standpoint, they should be response to a customer with 24 or 48 hours. It really separates the good from the best and the mediocre from the good. Haven't gotten the wallets and was already unimpressed by its customer service.
Indeed, it’s the last mile of customer service that really makes it or breaks it.
If only the card slots would both go in the same direction.
Hi I am doing leather wallet, will you like to rview one?
It’s unavailable!!
Looks like they don't have it in stock, you can always get it from their site directly at dunwallets.com/
Video very good, wallet....not so good
Thanks for the comment Tom, what didn't click with you on this wallet?
Not worth the money. Leather quality is trash. Should be like $30 tops.
