Gorgeous lens. It's very sharp, doesn't lose contrast when zoomed in, the autofocus is very fast and silent. It is consistent throughout the zoom range and across the image frame. A total gem from Sony. Love it.
How come a f6.3 could ever be a gem?
@Foto4Max the 100-400 is also much more expensive too. if i remember, 100-400 has that fancy motor inside.
Foto4Max considering the slow autofocus would it be a poor choice for bird photos? The 100-400 is an FE right?
I was thinking... what if meike extension tubes attached to 70-350...
Can we click close portrait photos with super bokeh?
I don't have tele photo lens... so i cannot try.
Can anyone tell me what is does?
I request you to make video with extension tubes with different lenses please
@@SamraatShukla I use Mieke extension tubes with the kit 55-210. It's a cheap way to try out macro and I've been super impressed with the results.
I just purchased this lens two or three days ago and I've been very impressed. The size is much smaller then i expect. I took it out and did some comparison with the 55 to 210 just like you did. It blows it all of the water. I go to an airshow a couple times a year and I had been renting. This lens is just perfect. I was not impressed with the 70-300. Rented it one year and didn't look back. This will work out for me just fine.
I love this lens, use it to photograph Eagles while kayaking. 525mm zoom is great for getting close to the Eagles and I get super sharp photos. I have noticed if lighting is not perfect the auto focus does struggle sometimes.
Oh my gosh Iâm in love with that lens already and thatâs just from your pictures. I have the 55-210 and while I use it often I find it frustrating because of the lack of sharpness. This lens goes to the top of my wishlist!
Would you still recommend buying the 55-210 at the price it falls at now near $/âŹ130?
@@jamalhalili2173 depends on your camera system really. Last year I moved on from the A6000 to the A7RIII. My zoom lens is now a Sigma 100-400.
But for average use Iâd say the 55-200 is fine. If you have the money Iâd strongly recommend going with the Sony 70-350 though because it will be much sharper.
@@Vern_Levine I have A7RIII too,do you recommend the Sony 70-350 with the Full Frame system?
I just wanna blance the weight and qualityïŒso I was wondering if the 18M pics is good enough?
@@kamui0523 Iâm not sure on that one. The biggest drawback to the sigma 100-400 is the weight and this lens would be lighter but Iâm not sure what the difference in quality would be especially when shooting in crop mode.
And on this review alone, I just bought one, thank you for a very insightful & informative review
that looks great.. wishing you & your family the best for Christmas & New year.. & thanks for an awesome channel..
This is the review I have been waiting for!!
Been checking this lens out a lot! Thanks for the awesome review as always and IÂŽve now made up my mind, I will get this lens :D
Thanks for the review Arthur, always helpful to watch your reviews. You helped me choose the Sigma 16mm for my Sony. Thank you!
Just today got this lens. Trying a couple shots from window and man I like it...have to be closer familiar .
Manual focus in my Sony ZV-E10 was real fun, with camera assistant and visible all sharp points...
Thank you for nice samples too.
I have bought this lens today and i seriously love it. Also because of your great review video. Know that you're my No 1. CZcams lens reviewer. Keep on going with your great work!
The Sony 18-135 has been FANTASTIC on my a6400. It's my primary right now and will continue to be unless my socks get blown off by something else.
Been waiting for it! 55-210 is the only tele I have got now. Expect to get this one soon.
Thanks for the video upload. I am actually looking to get this lens, despite its age. The samples and your input are greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much for sharing. This video is extremely informative and I am looking forward to buying this lens.
Photos were very good. Looks like you are stepping up your photography.
This lens, one of my favorites, is also surprisingly sturdy. I accidentally dropped it from a moving bicycle (don't ask!), it hit the tar road hard (along with the a6000 it was attached to) and BOTH were just fine. I still use this lens all the time because of its excellent glass and light weight. I shoot wildlife. I now use it on an a6400.
I also have a6400 and consider to get this lens for landscape and outdoor sports. How is the AF performance?
@@nhancao4790 shooting it on a6400 and the AF is ok for all of my photography so far. But if you consider shooting birds in flight or something in low-light I strongly recommended F2.8 which are quite expensive and designed for fullframe.
Maybe you can try it out at a local store by yourself đđ
I like this lens, leightweight and very sharp , colors are also very good, thanks for your review Arthur!
Got to be the best walk-around lens and camera combo. M-F switch is great. Great alternative to my A7Riv/200-600 set up.
Great review... im hopping to get this in the nier future. Love the range and the size/weight.
bel video bella recensione, grazie Arthur!
Great review! I'm using it with my A6400 and it's great in sharpness and AF in good conditions but it can have focus issues when shooting on
350 mm in low light situations (mostly slight backfocus). In that cases you have to adjust manually.
I've noticed a really nice bump in your production lately. As always, great reviews, thanks!
8:45 - great photography. love it
Bit of background... I shot with Canon gear for years and liked the 100-400mm f/4.6-5.6L IS II lens but looking back, I did not use that lens often enough because of the size and weight to justify the two grand investment in the lens. Switching to Sony, I decided not to buy the 100-400mm or 200-600mm because I didn't think I would use these that often either. However, I purchased the Sony 70-350mm lens to basically replace the Canon 100-400mm. It is 50mm shorter but 30mm wider. It is about a half stop slower at max focal length but I can live with that. I can only use it in a crop format but, I always used the 100-400mm on my crop 7D Mark II. The reason I purchased the lens is that it is significantly smaller than either the Sony 100-400mm or 200-600mm, weighs less than half of what the 100-400mm weighs and one third of what the 200-600mm weighs additionally, it costs 40% of the price of the 100-400mm and about 50% the price of the 200-400mm....
I can live with its shortcomings because of the weight and price.
First lens I bought without checking your video and I confirm everything you said. It is impressively performant
This lens is Amazing I knew thanks for the review!
You asked what lens i would use if i could only use 1. This is it in fact i use it all the time with my a6600. love it.
I know this is a few years old but just purchased a Tamron 70-300 to go on my new to me a6500. I really havenât been impressed with the Tamron, not bad but not great. My biggest issue was the insane lens creep. I watched this video along with a bunch of you other videos before buying the Tamron, very informative. I figured I would save some money and get the Tamron. After rewatching this Iâm sending the Tamron back and getting the Sony. Found one used like new on Amazon for just a few hundred more than the Tamron. I think the extra features like zoom and focus lock will make it worth it.
Thank you for all the videos, you are my go to when I have questions about the APS-C line.
đ€©đ€© I've been waiting for this lense since i first saw it on release day! A must buy for me. The SEL 55-210mm gets a bit too short for me (Planespotting).
Nice presentation as always..need to save up before i can get one for myself.
I LOVE mine....very pleased with it for the most part.
Awesome lens. I've been using it with my a6000 and it looks absolutely massive on it. The autofocus is lightning quick it's grey for fast moving subjects like birds etc
Thanks for the review. I tried the lens a couple of weeks ago and my copy had a problematic focus ring. When I turned it, it was not smooth at all as you described, but instead felt as if there was sand under the ring scraping and grabbing. Maybe it was the result of Amazon shipping it in the retail box? Other than that the images seemed sharp and the AF responsive and accurate. I ended up sending it back for a replacement and it's been an absolute nightmare dealing with Amazon. I'm glad you've had a better experience.
I got this lens. It's great and I even use it on a7riii apsc mode for 525mm reach. Sharp and nice. It's cheaper then the 70300G, and lighter since it''s apsc.
Maybe in the next video u can write the focal lenght and aperture for every single sample bcs that help us to expect
Thanks for this! I watch a lot of tutorials and have to read between the lines in order to make a decision for myself, but this covers my exact situation. I shoot with an a6400, have the 55-210 and the 18-135 that I shoot with regularly, but am considering this 70-350 or the FE70-300 to kick things up a notch.
Do you also use a full frame Sony? I don't know if I'll ever upgrade but am wondering if it's worth getting the 70-300 for potential FF use in the future. And how'd you feel about low light performance on this 70-350? Heard it's not great on the 70-300... Thanks!
I just bought this lens for my Birthday. Looking forward to using it.
Hi Arthur i am realy interested in this lens but my comment is about your happy family, alwayas enjoyed your videos and the way your family is helping out with your channel, wish you and them all the best and more love still for the future. đ
Great 70-350mm lens- awesome review đ€© . Sony did a goog job đ
I just bought this lense yesterday, excited about it
I have a Sony A6000 and a Sony FE 70-300mm and I love that combination... My hobby is airplane photography...
Greetings from Puerto Rico...
wow how is it for aviation photography
Please include the settings for all the pictures you show. It's very useful info. Thanks for your videos!
i rly like your style of video making :D
I'm really enjoying the 70-350. I wish it had a bit more contrast, but that is easily fixed in PP.
Merci pour cette démonstration bien détaillée. Cordialement. Gérard
Great review Arthur! In fact, this lens also performs reli well and reliable even under low light condition on a6600 body!! You might as well test it under low light condition:)
I just picked up a used a6600 to replace the a6000, and for something lighter than a7riii for walking around. Thinking of picking this up to make the a6600 my longer range weapon. Any issues with having enough light on cloudy days or in general? Also deciding if I should just get the 16-55 g first...I do already have compact full frame primes. Just wanted to say hi and accepting of input. Have a good one!
Thanks for the review, got one.
Thank you Arthur, again!
Hi there.. Great review as usual. Iâve just purchased this lens and really impressed. I put it on my Sony /vct-vpr1 tripod and to be honest itâs very insecure and not at all steady at 350mm. Would you recommend a different tripod or using some kind of support rig?... regards John
This is an APS-C lens.
It's telephoto side is extended 50mm (75mm in 35mm equivalent) than the full-size lens 300mm.
But, the length of the pay-out will be shorter in the 350mm, it's also lighter weight.
Love your videos very useful đđđ
Would be great to see a comparison Sony 70-350 vs new Sigma 100-400.
I'm just a hobbyist and I think I'm willing to put down nearly a grand for that lens from those samples. I already have the 55-210, and the 35 f1.8, and I'm pretty satisfied with that set up. But I may add this one to my arsenal.
Interesting, some of sample shots you took look super nice but like 1 out of 5 of them would be kind of soft or grainy... Awesome review! Are you looking forward to that Tamron 70-180 f2.8 thats supposed to to come out soonish?
Thanks for your videos! Although my english is not that good, I almost understand everything youâre saying. Thumbs up!
I like it that you walk around with the box đ
Great video
great review!
I bought this lens en connected it to my A6600. JPEG comes out very good, I use it for make photo from airplanes. Thanks for this video and Happy Eastern sir.
Please compare this lens with the Sigma 100-400 (on APSC!!) when it s officially released.
Should be the next lens comparison.
Itâs inevitable!
Yes, please, I'm also very interested in how the two compare.
I think it comes down to whether u plan to go full frame eventually..
I did get the 16-55 2.8 to go with the a6400 for travel but purchased the full frame 200-600 for wildlife because of upgrade possibilities.
WowâŠ. Iâve been researching lenses for months and I think this sold it for me.
you can change the plate on the exposed threads. Different color plates to choose from,
Wow what lens and camera are you using walking around with the fire pit in the background- that is super clean - crystal clear!
Impresionante, gracias por compartir, muy buen vĂdeo, saludos amigo.
Great job Arthur
Hey Arthur. By my eyes this lens has some magic going for it ! I bet the a6600 couldâve help a little better with the telephoto jitters. Thanks
I am also impressed with my new copy of this lens...
Nice job thank you
I really like the photos, especially at 3:54 and 4:15. I think I will get this lens soon. But first I'll get the Sigma 18-50 or maybe the sigma 16 mm 1.4.
thx for your videos, they helped me a lot.
Got it meanwhile and its my absolute favourite lens at the moment. The stabilizer works so well on my a6400 body without IBIS. (Note that at higher focal lenghts, its almost just the OSS that does the job đ) You can shoot a 1/80 s handheld so your ISO is reasonably low at daytime. For indoors I would definetly pick a f/2.8 zoom.
But overall the range of 350mm (525 mm FF eq.) on apsc is crazy and the sharpness is also really nice.
The long focal lenght even allows nice bookhes for portraits although it is a f/6.3
Have you tried this lens with older APS-C E mount cameras like A6000 or A6500? Any accuracy problem with AF in the long telephoto range?
@@pablo_costas what about iso value, is required increase it?
I'm in love with this lens on my a6300.
Bought it, sold it, now just ordered it again. Looking forward to give it a second chance. Also nowadays it's fairly affordable. Got my first copy on Black Friday 2020 for 529âŹ, and now for just 498âŹ. Both from major camera retailers (price including Sony cashback).
Hi Arthur great video
Can you do review with this lens on sony a6000
Keep up the good work. âïž
beautiful lens oooooh wish i had the money for all these toys
Again great review. Nice job and thanks.
Is it just me or xmas 2020 gonna be legendddddddddddddaaaaaarryyyyly Awesomenessly packed!!!!!!! :D
I initially had the sel70300. Disadvantages are the higher weight and the thickness of the lens. Since I prefer to use it at close range, I am always enthusiastic about the beautiful Bookeh. In addition, it offers slightly better light sensitivity over the entire range and the image scale is much better, you can approach the subject closer. For example, this is advantageous when shooting insects. Now I also own the 70-350, which is much lighter and is also more comfortable to use. I do not want to make a statement about the image quality yet, which is certainly excellent when viewed alone. Sharpness is not everything, but weight and handiness are very important properties. After all, I didn't switch from full frame to APS-C so that I could carry the same lenses afterwards!
So where did you land on comparing your experience with these two lenses. I have full frame and crop bodies. I was thinking I'd stick with crop for longer range or apsc mode for the extra reach. I held both lenses...big difference in size. Do you miss the extra light and lower iso of the fe lens?
@@scottroberts3131 No, I do not muss anything. But I bought at the same time the SEL1655 and this is the lens I normally use. I do not like to change lenses. So I carry especially when I go by bike three cameras. 6000, 6500 and (I love 6600) 6600. Beside the two lenses I use the SEL1018 and there ist no need, changing lenses. But when I walk, the weight......
Just picked up a Sony A6700 and this lens from Sony's official website. Spring sales brought the cost down for this lens to ÂŁ260 so definitely a great investment!! A great review
I just bought it thanks to your review ;-)
Thanks Arthur !!!!
(used the affiliated link)
Love the review. I currently own the Sony 18-200mm lens which I find to be a decent lens. Do you think the 70-350mm worth the money to get as a replacement for the 18-200mm lens?
Great video! Do you recomend any cheaper alternative for a telephoto zoom lens?
I need this for my planespotting needs
Going to rent this and try shooting some football highlight videos with the a6700. Really hope it delivers because I would love to add it to my kit.
I got this lens a few weeks ago. Finally got out to the zoo to test it and was very happy with the results!
That's awesome. That's where I would plan to use it the most.
Did you have the 55-210 before this? Any comparison thoughts?
@@JoshN614 I didnt. The longest lens I had was the 18-135. I bought the lens for a trip I'm taking to Africa in the spring. It's a once in a life time trip for us so I wanted to make sure I had the best equipment I had available to me!
@@jrwildernessExplorers / I would love to hear your feed back from your trip!
Nice music choiceđ
I'm wanting a zoom lens for my a6300. I don't have much need to go over 200mm but this looks tempting. I have been thinking that I wanted the 70-200mm f4. Which lens would most of you reading this get?
Bro love ur videos.. Fallen into Sony from nikon after watching.. Just one question, what settings u use to get those colors in jpeg, cos for me it's always crappy pics on my a6600..
Thanks.
Nice work keep it up
Bro please compare it with sigma 100-400mm, waiting so desperately.. Love ur videos, ur channel made me switch from Nikon to Sony and Sigma and I can't give up Sigma lenses, they are super sharp.. Thanks for ur work, keep it up.. Stay safe
Would you miss the tripod collar? What about balance on tripod with zoom extended?
love the reviews. Which lens do you think would be best for someplace like galapagos, the sony 70-350 or the tamron 18-300? on either an A6400 or A6700.
Super helpful
Me too, owned!
Have you compared this lens with the Sony 70-200 f4? I am trying to decide between that lens and this one. Thank you!
After two bad copies I gave up. Both were fine at the short end but AF and sharpness fell apart above 300mm. There have been other buyers that have reported the same issues. When it did hit focus neither was near as sharp as my previous 70-300mm. Really wanted it to work out. Tried both on my A7RIV and a6600. Decided to order the 200-600mm and keep my 100-400mm GM has an alternative. In saying all that many have not reported any issues and like the 70-350mm so maybe it copy variance issue.
4:38 Stunning!!!
I am not sure if I need that range. I consider to buy the Tamron 70-180 when it gets out and use it on APS-C. Aperture f/2.8 is way better than f/6.3.
Nice video. It makes me wonder why they didn't put OSS on the 16-55mm which is a zoom lens range most people would want? Cost perhaps? Tamron has a 70-300 but no OSS.
I have now had this lens from Sony for testing on for few weeks and I really did not expect to even try it really. But instead I found the lens to be quite awesome actually and it made me to be more interested in telephoto. It really is useful hand held even in pretty dark and long range. Good lens unlike 18-210 which I have some years a go for few months and found it to be just annoyingly bad toy.
How do people have a ÂŁ700 lens just lying around that they don't even plan on trying lol?
great, your video help me to choose wich lens ad...
