My favourite beginner plants are Anubias, especially the nana variety and Cryptocoryne. At some point, I will try Bucephelandra.
Thank you for clarifying that Anubias, etc. are not epiphytes but rheophytes. As a hobbyist, I adapt my knowledge and terminology as updates happen. I think that experts in the hobby have a responsibility to update their usage to prevent the perpetuation of incorrect terminology.

Right now I’m obsessed with crypts and mosses. I’m trying to get that professional mossy driftwood look in a forest scape.

I started with a buce starter pack and staurogyne repens mixed with cryptocoryne lucens. All did well enough, though the staurogyne lost quite a few leaves at first. I'd highly recommend buce as a starting plant. Little to no melt, slow growing to keep the same look and position, no CO2 needed, and lighting can be any $20 aquarium plant light. Excellent.

My favorite beginner plants is definitely rosette plants like crypts and echinodorus. They come in all sizes and can give great impact to any aquascape

I would have to go with Java Fern and crypt lutea, they have been awesome in my tanks and adapted very fast.

My Favorite beginner plants are Any species of Cryptocoryne & Anubias. I don't use Co2 and i also don't use soil, i discovered crypt can survive and live in fine sand. I love Moss too, but i get Algae issue with moss and i don't enjoy watching my Moss getting covered with algae, that's why i have to sacrifice Moss.

My fav is Anubias. It would be Buce, but apparently Buce is not compatible with my hard, high pH water. Anubias is able to adjust, as are Crypts and Vals. Buce, slowly over the course of a year, dies back for me.

What is the best type of water to use when you do water changes? Can you let tap water sit for 24 hrs. So the chlorine can dissipate?

Hey. Can you do a video on the best plants that can work with bettas. I’m looking to do a planted c02 tank but i know bettas are sensitive so I’d need a group that needs low c02 but can tolerate the beta temperature

Hey there, we'll add this to our content list! In the meantime, plants like Java Fern, Anubias, and Bucephalandra will work great in a betta tank.
