That’s cheating you got a ramp.!? I gotta do mine on my drive on my back on the wet and cold ground? Doh! Very good vid: probably the best vid: for close up and clarity I’ve seen on CZcams, really shows in detail every aspect of doing it, thanks really appreciated.

Thanks, appreciate the feedback. Been there and done that, laying on my back out in the rain trying to fit side bars. Actually, When we started many years ago our ramp wouldn't fit LWB vans on so all LWB ones where done on the ground outside. Luckily we moved into our newly built workshop back in 2019 and have the 5ton extra wide ramp for commercials.

Honestly I play car X drift racing and the one van is an American van and if you colour it white and write some squiggly lines on it it looks creepy also nice creation on that van

I just fitted mine to my T6, By my self, on my drive . I used levelling ramps to jack one side up at a time, make it so much easier, I just loosened the edges of the cavorting pans, there plastic on mine, just held them down with a bit of 2x2 timber, I pre loaded the split pin thingys that go on the bolts that go into the chassis by just knocking them on a couple of threads down form the bolt head then just bend the ends down slightly so they don’t go into the chassis hole, they soon pull up tight when you tighten it up, piece of cake, I didn’t cut the bolts nor th3 pans where they hit the bolt because the plastic pans just bend round the bolts when tightened. Took me 2 hours at a leisurely pace. No hurry. I’m retired. And 74.

Great video. Who supplied the bars?

We supplied the bars in this instance but if you’re looking for mail order try Van-Tech as theirs are also stainless steel!

Hello, what size are the screws that go to the bodywork? And large? (Have the bars but don’t have the screws)

Hi, You will need to speak to where you purchased your bars from. Usually side bars come with the fitting kits from the manufacturers.

Can't you just shorten the bolts and put under trays on? Or even use shorter bolts seems a bit wrong to be chopping at the under trays to let a boltvstixk through

You could but it wouldn’t help much as the plastic under trays sit flush with the bottom of the van, once you add the thickness of the bracket, a locking washer, washer and a nut the smallest clearance required would be around 20mm. This would then push off the hole under tray and leave gaps. We have tried it in the past but found it better to holesaw a 30mm hole on the bolt locations in the tray.

Il montaggio mi sembra approssimativo, come fa a stringere quelle viti quando la testa è libera di muoversi.

Very Good vid; much appreciated, why don’t you just cut off the excess bolts with angle grinder, ?
