I totally understand people putting Carlin and Pryor and Bruce in top 3, a lot of “critics” seem to always have those 3 interchanged at the top, depending on the list, and I love all of them but just because you were the first doesn’t automatically make you the best forever and always. I definitely do not subscribe to that train of thought, which again for some reason critics all too often fall into that category, that way of thinking finds its way into their reviews. Sometimes it does make you the greatest but it always is on a case by case basis, and you should always give credit where credits due especially if it’s a legend who helped shaped an industry which Pryor, Carlin and Bruce 1000% did. Carlin practically invented the self hating humor, the making fun of yourself, but are you going to honestly tell me Carlin is funnier than Louis? Someone who has essentially mastered the craft in and of itself and especially the genre of self deprecation. Absolutely not, unless you’re over a certain age I suppose. I would put Pryor in my top 5 probably and Carlin would definitely be in my top 10 but for me personally, someone who’s a semi professional comic in my local area (Greater Houston Area) and having my thumb on the pulse of the comedy scene/business as well as being a millennial (Born in ‘94) I just find the modernity of Louis, Chapelle, Rock and others in this era more hilarious than older comics, though of course there are numerous Carlin and especially Pryor specials where I can watch the whole thing from start to end and laugh my ass off, the same can’t be said today about 95% of the comics out there for even just one special. Carlin just started to get so preachy at the end and relied on the audience too laugh and applaud the witty things he was saying at a spitfire pace simple because he was saying everything so quickly, he leaned on that aspect far too heavily. I mean what he was saying was true, and nothings funnier than the truth, but it just kind of became a schtick near the end for him because it felt like he couldn’t come up with fresh material for a more traditional stand up routine that would resonate with an increasingly younger audience. Still love him, still think he’s a legend, but just my take is all. Would love to hear feed back if anyone has any.

Kill the messenger was very good too although the cutaways to other locations takes some getting used to. Tambourine the extended version was good but I saw that as Chris warming up again.
I watched the then untitled documentary about how Dave Chappelle spent the pandemic. Chris Rock spoke in this documentary about how he had been working out during lockdown. He actually bombed on stage, my opinion was that he was actualizing too much self love and he just wasn't used to it. Great to hear that he evolved into killing it again.
He's always been fire as a comedian and can legit do serious acting roles. I remember when I was back living with my parents in 08 or 09, I was watching Rock on my PC (can't remember if it was the special when it was cutting between New York, London and Johannesburg, or the special prior to that) and I called my white baby boomer, generally stuffy conservative father (who despite his conservative demeanour, *does* have a sense of humour), into my room to show him a bit Rock had just done (don't remember the bit either unfortunately). We laughed hard together and he commented, "He's a very intelligent comic. Very good." That shows Rock's comedy works with many different people.

4:37 same applies to music - that is what made Elvis the greatest solo artist ever - during the last 50's he was being dragged everywhere but he kept going back to the soul clubs and bars in Memphis and would keep it real, riffing with Fats Domino and BB King.
I love Chris Rick too.. Everything he ever does,is hilarious..Dude even had a show about his childhood, and it's dope.. #Legend
Ask yourself this. Why haven't they released ANY OTHER ANGLE of the slap? The Oscar stage is covered with cameras, so there are many angles to see. BUT, then only release the reverse angle which is how you film a FAKE HIT, PUNCH, KICK, etc.

Joe Rogan can't afford to hire a copyeditor for his video titles? You have a recurring problem here, Joe!
Right? Had to read it a few times, to comprehend what it meant..
When "Bigger and Blacker" came out my roomate and i were like 17. We wore that dvd out! It was in the daily after work rotation for like 2 years!
Listening to this guy trying to form a complete thought is rough.
Half this clip I'm just thinking wtf is he trying to say right now.
Ikr. This is the comment i was looking for.
Agreed. Yet, there are people in the comments pushing others to watch his Netflix special. His appearance on the JRE alone is a tough sell.
@@Hizzoner21 you’re missing out he has a really casual sense of humor but super funny . One of my favorites ! Just because he’s not the best at discussing a certain topic on podcast doesn’t mean he can’t compose hilarious stand up bits on topics of his choice
@@austinlombrana7539 Fair point. Maybe one day I'll come around.
Well. Like. Ah you know like with most. Like just the same. Like most expect a lot from him. Like like like.
Take a shot every time Nate says “like” or “ya know”
I'd die of alcohol poisoning after 2 minutes
Will is done . That toxic relationship. Jada the gas lighter. It's sad. I've seen it multiple times before in people that are not famous. The guy I knew ended up taking his own life. The woman and their daughter moved on quickly after the death. I think of him often .....his name was Andre Buck
R.I.P. Andre. Gone, but not forgotten. I’m sure your friend appreciates you thinking of him. I hope everything goes great for you today!
great interview
Please don’t stop these Podcasts anytime soon!! I’ll be sitting there soon 🫡 Mad respect
God bless Chris, hope he doesn't give up. Man is a LEGEND
Ted Nugent - Cat Scratch Fever
Nate is hilarious. His special on Netflix is great
Kill the messenger was very good too although the cutaways to other locations takes some getting used to. Tambourine the extended version was good but I saw that as Chris warming up again.
"Arguably the greatest comic of all time"- Joe Rogan
Saw him live in the UK a couple months ago, might be his best special yet !
Sir the ticket must have been very expensive
I work in transcription and I'd give up trying to transcribe this dude out. He can't finish a thought unless it takes 6 attempts.
Dude I thought it was because I baked! I couldn’t follow anything he was saying. Joe’s reaction at the end. Too funny
Is there going to be another podcast with Joey Diaz, I’m dying for another podcast with him!😂
The last one was kinda tame, I thought. He needs another guest so he fires up and competes to tell the best stories.
I study you in hopes to one day crushing it with ease like you make it look. You are great, brother. Thanks
Lmao "Post Will Smith" its like it was a historic event. BW (Before Will) Chris and then PS Chris (Post-Slap).
Just seen him live in Melbourne Australia 👏🏻👏🏻 he’s brilliant
Saw Chris Rocks' special here in Australia a week ago, fucking amazing!
Chris Rock's entire comeback happened when he said, "Wow, Will Smith just slapped the shit outta me!"
Very good."
That shows Rock's comedy works with many different people.
"Sometimes you sing lead and sometimes you're on tambourine"
-Chris Rock
Solid relationship advice for sure folks.
Joe, you should get Chris Kent on the pod cast. He's 66 years old and still killing it teaching Jeet kune do to this day!
“Bigger and Blacker” legitimately might be the Greatest Special of all time.
The crazy thing is that-I would even understand if someone thought “Bring The Pain” _or_ “Never Scared” was the Best Special ever.
All three are absolutely Brilliant.
Bring Eddie Bravo back!!!!
He’ll look into it…

With the backwardness of our economy, increment in the price of gas, alarming rates of unemployment. I must confess our country have taken a wrong turn. Vividly I don't know how else to carter for my expenses.
Yeah 😊 Mr Thompson , is a well known man in the crypto market I started working with him since 2017 and it has been a very good experience..
I believe because I made up to $184,000 with an expert BROKER, crypto trading is very profitable.
@Ibrahim Bruce How I’m in need of his assistance
Do you know how much that can be okay for a start? and I will be grateful if you give me an easy way to contact him.

Damn Jamie.. thought Chris Rock was the guest!
Would be nice to get/see Steven crowder on the show again.

I really enjoy how much the guest understands comedy
sweet, i was thinking the other day i'd like to see joe talk to nate. gonna have to look up this whole episode.
2 amazing comedians talking about a legendary comedian. Good shit. Hope I can go see Nate again
Start getting some out of the box guests that would be great. Guests make the pod joes cool but most of the time I like the people he brings that I never herd of before and they have awesome stories then joe will just throw in some insight.

Nate Bargatze is lining up to be one of the greats.
"What happened to crazy?!
You can't be crazy no'mo?!
Did we eliminate crazy from the dictionary?!" Lmao
4:37 same applies to music - that is what made Elvis the greatest solo artist ever - during the last 50's he was being dragged everywhere but he kept going back to the soul clubs and bars in Memphis and would keep it real, riffing with Fats Domino and BB King. If you take yourself away from that raw passion ''the streets'' for comedians, the material isn't as authentic and that shows. A' la vitrine as the French say, you cant windows shop, it needs to be real.
Elvis isn’t better than Michael Jackson. MJ is the GOAT.
@@YSBG_ The GOAT at sniffing young boys trousers pal. This isn't a race thing in my opinion, but if it is turned into that - Black music (Gospel, Mo-town, Blue Grass) is the purest ever in my opinion. Elvis was much closer to the original form than MJ.

I got to see Chris and Kevin Hart at the Barklay’s Center a couple weeks ago and both of their sets were absolute KILLERS. Really looking forward to rewatching those pieces on Netflix!

“One of the best ever” gets thrown around so much these days. I don’t think it’s supposed to work that way.
To be fair Chris Rock is though
But Chris Rock is one of the best. To me he’s the best ever. So idk what you’re talking about
@@CamPerry “to be fair!”
It's the truth in Chris's case. Before netflix started releasing specials, HBO was, and Chris was the man. He was named America's funniest man and had the status that Dave Chappelle currently has. Ironically, there's footage of Dave openly calling Chris the best in like 2014-2015.
Just saw Nate. He gets better every tour.
Dude - Nate Bargatze is on?!? Love it.
After being slapped to say the line. " The greastest night in tv history" was epic. Chris Rock didnt skip a beat.
The lack of awareness about no longer being funny is true for Joe lol
I reckon joes more “makes you think” funny. Like his bit about caitlin jenner was pretty good I reckon, you don’t laugh like you would a louis ck bit, but its not that kind of comedy. To me anyway
Joe was funny? link or it didn't happen
Joe was never funny. He has many talents but comedy isn't one of them. Chapelle and bill Burr are funny asf. I know he is mainstream but you gotta admit Kevin Hart is hilarious too. Seriously funny had me in tears the whole time
When's the last time you saw one of his standup sets live?
Sounds like he was talking about Theo
Can you please have Giorgio Tsoukalos back on the podscast? it's been a long while and the previous podcast with him are either unavailable or with shitty quality mics. BRING THE MAN BACK!
This is good to hear. Thought it was just me who thought that of Chris. His last special on Netflix was bad.
