    Uhh, thank you! Just struggled hardly at this switch. 😂

    No doubt about H ur simply the best! I dissembled the switch as you showed here, brilliant video, found molten plastic and brass tongs sunk into it & compromised contacts have cleaned up now they are 2 mm lower than the others, and reassembled, now going to reinstal to test as spares seem hard to find but I have to say you make fixing fun again like when I started on Triumph Vitesses back in the day watching my father rebuild straight sixes and fit them with large twin choke webber carbs. Showed dad your vids, he is a fan after two! You must be good he is a tough old cookie but at 86 he doesn't get under cars any more.He suggested I call myself cap boychris as I am always wearing one lol, UR the BeST!

      Wow, thanks for the praise, almost fell off my chair, you are too kind. All I try to do is make videos with the viewer in mind as if they no nothing from the beginning as it is always the most simplistic things that stop people sometimes. If you know how to do something, others often don't and that is worth freely sharing :-)

    Very impressive with all these details you never think about in daily life if it works ok and very helpful with your videos showing how to disconnect all these snap connectors, investigate and solve the problems if any.

    Very good job .I have had problem whith this switch the low beam light not working when turn the switch can this problem fixed ?

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks, I would test the low beam connection in the light units first then work back from there. If you know it is the actual switch then look for heat/mechanical damage on the contacts. I use emery paper to clean up the contacts and is fiddly, but it's cheaper than a new switch :-)

    Do you know if any of the newer switch panels fit the fabia? Maybe off an A3 8p or Mk6 Golf for example

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  Před 3 lety

      The older audi a3 ones look like they may fit, but I bet they don't. The panels the problem here as there are more options with the newer separate switches.

    • @Gazshadows
      @Gazshadows Před 3 lety

      @@HatBoyHarvey as in 2004-12 A3? I may look into it but might look nicer with more modern switch

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  Před 3 lety

      Trouble is the newer switch is bigger than the hole on the panel otherwise I would have done it as you can easily fit the auto-light function :-)

    • @Gazshadows
      @Gazshadows Před 3 lety

      @@HatBoyHarvey ah I see yeh might be worth comparing measurements against some of the new looking ones. How would the autolight function be programmed in?

    So if this is the case, will I have to take the whole panel off to get it out or will I be able to remove it without taking the panel off? Thank you!

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  Před 2 lety

      If it gets stuck you need to take the panel off or forward enough to push it from the back.

  • @swoggles100
    @swoggles100 Před rokem +1

    I have to switch my lights on and off until my dash lights come on. Is this likely a faulty headlight switch?

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  Před rokem +1

      Not necessarily, but it does sound like that. It could be an earth or connection fault.. Check the main earth to the battery first then take the switch out and reconnect it. Do the same with the fuse. Fiddle/tap with the switch to see if that effects the lights coming on. If still no joy I would be inclined to think it is the switch and replace it, but I maybe wrong and something else is awry somewhere which would need further investigation. Sorry I can't be of any more help than that, but hope this helps :-)

      @swoggles100 Před rokem +1

      @@HatBoyHarvey thank you very much for this advice. I'll try the things you have said. I hope I can buy a new switch, I don't want a used one that might do the same thing.
