Stevie Wonder in the '70s into the early '80s was pure fire. An absolute master.

I don't know how I came to watch again recently We Are The World, but I did. There's the cream of the crop of 80s pop and rock singers there. Just, legends, immeasurable talent. But Stevie a whole league above them all, even MJ.

Stevie was a greater genius than MJ to me. Stevie wrote all his songs and played all the instruments on his albums. His songs are timeless classics.

I'm so old I remember seeing his first TV appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1963. I have always loved one of his early hits, "I Was Made to Love Her". I recommend you do that one so you can hear him when in his youth. He was explosive to watch.

Stevie's tribute to Bob Marley. His tribute to Martin Luther King, "Happy Birthday," is on the same album, "Hotter Than July." It is worth a play, too. Hell yes, more Stevie!

The amazing thing about Stevie is apparently he’s a virtual one man band ! As far as I know he played all the instruments on this himself and mixed them in the studio.

The genius of Stevie remains. Jeff Beck (RIP) told a great story about his collaboration with Stevie on “Superstition.” Short version, Jeff was in studio on drums messing around with beats as Stevie was returning from lunch. Stevie heard the beat and as he sat down at the piano, he said “keep that beat going.” Jeff said, “it’s me buddy.” To which Stevie said, “I know, keep it going!” Jeff’s beat was the inspiration for what became one of Stevie’s biggest hits, and they’ve even played it a few times live together. Great, great friends to the end. 👈🤘

Oh, I haven't heard this song in a long time. It was hot back when it came out and is still hot today! Stevie Wonder is in a class by himself. His musical career started when he was 11 in the early 60s when he was known as Little Stevie Wonder. He is a genius! His catalogue is absolutely huge and every song in it a masterpiece. "Songs in the Key of Life" is widely considered one of the greatest albums of all time. What is my favorite song? Wow, I don't know that I can pick one. Right now, at this moment, "Higher Ground" or "Superstition" comes to mind as one of the many that I love.

I was 13 when Stevie had his first big hit -- also at 13. When I heard "Fingertips Part II" on my little transistor radio, I was hooked on R&B music and could not believe that young man could have such immense talent. He was blind, he sang, he played the harmonica, he plays the drums, the keys, the bass, the guitar, writes lyrics, on and on and on. What a joy to have grown up right along with Stevie Wonder.

All Stevie's albums from 1971 to 1980 are incredible. Such a series of masterpieces has never been seen in other artists. He's a multi-talented artist with a vision and a spirituality that aren't paralleled in the musical scenario. He sang live even better than in studio!
You can react to "Front line", "Black Man", "Do I do" and "I'm new".

6:20 Stevie Wonder was making arrangements to tour for this album with Bob Marley in 1981. Stevie Wonder wrote this song to honor Bob Marley and thank him for agreeing to the tour. Tragically Bob Marley died in 1981 as the result of a metastatic brain tumor. This live stage tour would have paired two amazing humanitarians and justice warriors. Thank goodness we still have the music inspired by both men!
