How to upgrade a peg perego: everything

- I have made shorts of this little toy, which is a peg perego John Deere side by side, but this is an attempt to showcase what I have done in detail. I go over the power upgrades, which includes an increase in speed but also a variable speed gas pedal and a change to charging (by swapping out dewalt batteries).
I also added lights, an underglow kit, a trailer hitch, and a working power dump bed. The upgrades are enough to make me, and most grown men jealous.

Can you tell I'm new to youtube? Left the "sample text here" on the upload, I couldn't figure out how to actually get the real text in there.
Don't worry you are doing a great job . Try adding some music in your videos, nothing too much just some fun background music. As for the text look up a tutorial on CZcams for the exact program you use to edit videos
LMAO with that mistake😂😂😂
@@Pause_the_film ok, will try some music on the next one!
im pretty sure youtube’s algorithm is still based on user retention so how long people stay on your video and i think u should put the “glamor” shots at the end so people(mainly instagram scrollers) don’t click off at the beginning once you start talking
@@danielduarte214 ok thanks!
You are a great dad doing everything to give your son a smile❤
thank you! I am trying, he loves it so far and so do I
Would love to see you interviewing your son on how he likes his new truck!
thank for the idea! I can definitely do that
Ive done the scew trick with bald fourwheeler tires. We would smoke tires doing burnouts as kids, but get stuck in mud, so we put screws in the tread that stuck out on the sides. So as long as you put them shallow enough and in the thick outside chunks it works great getting you out of ruts.
so far they have been working pretty well!
Love this! My daughter is older now and I can't wait till she starts driving so I can modify her car too. Nothing better than a wholesome dad that enjoys diying for the betterment of his children
will she work on the car with you?
@@thelucys yes she will need to learn basic motor repair as well as basic vehicle maintenance
I love all the things you did to this! I wish you would make videos of each thing with directions because you lost me on all the wiring of things.
Thanks for the info. Love seeing this. Just bought one looking at the mods.
Thanks for the inspiration. I did everything except the lights so far. You’re right, the dump bed is a bit more work, but i never would’ve had the idea if I hadn’t watched this. Your video saved me a bunch of time on that install. I just put one piece of wood as a cross for the anchor point for the actuator underneath then anchored the wood cross with two wood screws through the plastic runners, which I ran the new electrical lines through for the upgraded power. Might need to put some conduit in there so the electrical line doesn’t vibrate against the screws and cause an arch. Thanks!
Awesome! Pretty fun mess around with it right?
Epic. Thanks for the links!!!
You bet!
Freaking fantastic! Thanks bud!
Glad you liked it! Hoping to add some more upgrades soon
I've seen (i think) nearly all you videos on the little gator, that's what inspired me to mod my nephews gator, i will say the two things you could still add are a horn and a little music player!
I remember when I was around 3-5 I had a race car power wheels and I loved it I would drive it around all day
I had always wanted something like this as a kid, but never got it, and I am thrilled to get to see my son have this kind of fun
Absolutely love the content! Hope to see more in the near future (:
thank you! too kind of you to say, I am working on the next couple of videos but it will take some time, I am still so new to this
Awesome job, greetings from Brazil
hi to Brazil!!
Hi Levi! How ya going? Can’t wait for the end
first comment! I just posted it you're fast! Thank you for watching!
Fantastic
Thank you! Cheers!
Hot rod power wheels. Can't wait to see a 20hp motor in the bed of that thing. That's awesome. When I was a kid and moved up from the power wheels my dad had gotten me a Yamaha 60cc gas powered 4wheeler and I'm not sure if they still make those small ones? I know they make small snowmobiles for kids but ATVs seems not so much so if this keeps a child from getting bored with a toy and gets another year or two or entertainment seems well worth the time and teaching a kid everything can be improved on.
ya I couldn't agree more, he likes the new add ons, and it helps he be a part of the process to be fixing it with me and doing work around the house with it once we finish an upgrade.
I think what you did was awesome, that is a great use of those old 2 amps. Ive got several i dont ise anymore too. Those big Dewalt Batteries are around $200 and would kinda be deminishing returns at some point it makes more sense to upgrade to newer nicer SXS. Now if you bought some of those knockoffs you might really get some nang for your buck, as long as they work.
I have several of the knockoff brands, so far so good. They seem to be more than adequate with power, and the ones I have had for more than 5 years are still going strong.
Parenting done right!
thank you!
Dad of the year right here
thank you!
Really like how u did the pedal. I'm going to have to do that for my kids rides
it is such a difference! wish they came with one
Do you remember what you did with the small blue wire that is on the factory pedal. Its labeled with an r. Maybe reverse? but don’t know where to put it on the regulator
Have you got any content of the actual modification? Specifically the accelerator pedal? TIA.
Nice video. I have the same unit. Do you know a good place to get replacement parts? I need a tailgate and wheels.
Also the powertool batteries are definitely designed for that. I often burn through a 2ah battery within 15 minutes using a sawzall. 40 minutes run time is pretty low amperage and they could take that all day long.
Also I was thinking about the rubber tires. It has no throttle, just on/off, so I figured too much traction might be kinda rough starting and stopping.
Edit:I saw you addressed the throttle. Nevermind!
When it does wear out and stops working hopefully in many many years are you going to then up grade your little man to a petrol powered 4-stroke farm kids quad bike or a 500w electric farm brushless kids quad bike. Was just wondering then he can really help out then. I'm sorry if you call the bikes something differently I'm from Australia I think you call petrol gas or something. It's awesome the things you have done it.
yup for sure going to be upgrading to a bigger one in a couple years.
Am I able to install the voltage regulator, without replacing the foot petal ?
Good question, you could use a different voltage regulator, the one I used specifically goes to that gas pedal
Can you Put tires on it and make it Six wheels extend the bed, make it detached and make it different bed attachments Put a mini winch on it
Which length actuator did you use?
Used a 12 in and cut it down to 8 in, check out the links thats the one I would use if I was to do it again
@@thelucys awesome thank you. I did check the link but it gave me several different length so I wasn’t sure. Thanks for the response
