Thanks Anson, your video was very helpful to me. I have just bought the new iMac 27 inch 2020, and I can't now use my 32-bit Photoshop CS5 because of Catalina. I don't really want to downgrade, so I will definitely look into running something alongside it so I can carry on using my 32-bit apps that I have.

Anson, I'm updated last week to macOS 10.15.13 Catalina from an earlier OS. My MacBook Pro is 3 yrs old. I frequently print to pdf files and save the documents on my computer. After the upgrade I find that I can neither print/save as pdf or simply save a pdf. I am running Parallels with Windows 10 but it does not give me the flexibility I need. I watched your video on App "Needs To Be Updated" and my question, is there a fix in Catalina to allow me to print/save s pdf, save a pdf or do I need to downgrade to Mojave? I look forward to your response. Thank you!
Never mind the apps I have a 27" 201 7 Imac and Catalina is still not showing up in updates ever tho the symbol says upgrade but when I click it, it says my mac is up to date with Mojave 10.14.6 so I dont have any option to upgrade it? Should I just keep Mojave as is or is it worth upgrading via not the app store?

AS a thumb rule, you NEVER update your OS unless you are certain that your key apps will work on the new OS... and there are many ways to check that before upgrading.

go and restart your computer. before you see the apple logo hold down: Command + Shift + Opion + R. Then you should see a spinning globe on your screen. Which means you are good to go BUT you do need a really fast internet for this to work i recommend you using your mobile data.Then after the spinning globe is gone you should see a macOS utilites menu. Then you will see the previous version of your mac. it says “Reinstall macOS” click on that and choose your main harddisk running catalina. Then agree to the agreement. and then it will start Installing for you. and there you have it! hopefully this works and helps. :)

I'm trying to use an older version of Final Cut Pro on Catalina. The app shows up as a 64-bit app, not 32 - but it still is unable to open. Do I have to downgrade back to another update? Or is there anything that I can do to try to get this older version of Final Cut Pro to open back up?

An app is giving me the same error message, but after going into System Information > System Report > Applications, it says the app is 64-bit... So I don't know what's causing the problem...
It may rely on 32 bit libraries to run, even if the app itself is 64 bit

I have CS6 and inexplicably it doesn't show up under legacy software. I'm going to use Time Machine to roll back the Catalina OS given that CS6 won't work. Regardless, I do NOT like the OS resembling iOS. My experience with the iPhone has ranged from "meh" to downright creepy, whereas my recent experience with an Apple Series 5 GPS watch - two in a row - is atrocious. (Neither one can make reliable use of Bluetooth pairing to my phone - or even WiFi - and no amount of resets to the network connection or the entire phone or watch has helped. Both watches have dropped the WiFi and Bluetooth connections, which are rock solid for everything else in my house! Even "Find My Phone" will not work with the phone sitting two feet away from the watch (both watches had the same problem). 2019 has not been a good Apple year for me. At the beginning of 2019 I purchased the latest iPad and had to return that, too, because it was taking 7 hours to charge. The replacement charges up just fine and has no issues - knock on wood! - but I'm wondering how I could go through two Apple purchases this year and ALL of the products I bought were faulty right out of the box. I have been using Apple, exclusively, since before there was an Apple Store. It's not the same company I remember. (Phone support no help for my watch troubles - with Apple tech support giving completely contradictory responses as to basic things like whether the watch has its own WiFi connection vs. just piggybacking off the phone.) Ugh.
We have to appreciate the fact that my guy wrote an entire essay on his personal experiences, like bro, I can't even type half of that crap in the comment section. *F to pay respects to @News View*
If your Photoshop CS6 doesn't work - switch to Affinity Photo app. It's really good alternative.
I lost my entire CS6 Creative Suite and there was no warning during the Catalina install that this would happen. I'm about to roll back the OS using Time Machine. One can always use a newer iPad or Chromebook for safe web browsing. That's my solution to the lack of 32-bit app support, anyhow.

Catalina kills every software I regularly use. This prevents me from ever buying a new Apple computer, since I don't have thousands of dollars to upgrade to the latest apps. F'in ridiculous.

I appreciate this video but I don't agree at all with what you are saying about needing to be mad at 32 bit application models. Apple is easily capable of innovating it's own version of Parallels. That's the obvious answer here as well as including it within the MAC OS so that this is a quick and easy workaround. This is really dumb of Apple leadership- which should always be setting the high bar- not branding itself in the marketplace as overly priced and problematic for industry standard applications. Apple should recognize that beyond expecting to get what we pay for- some of us don't necessarily enjoy being forced into submission as endless buyers of unnecessary tech which is shoved down our throats every 3-6 months or so- so that Apple or many other brands can just have something new to sell for profits. Some of us actually like to *enjoy* our comfort zones for an extended time- it's kinda how we manage to get *work* done. (???)
I think these fixes show promise and I Hope they work. I was just prompted to upgrade to Catalina and I am having a hell of a time with Adobe Premiere Pro- and the new updates on Premiere Pro, such as speech to *text /subtitling* are really helpful and can potentially save tons of time. I'll keep looking until I find solutions but I'll also remember that Apple forced me to do that, the next time I make a major tech purchase.

Operating systems no longer support the use of 32 bit programs? You have got to be kidding. I have several 32 bit programs running very well on Windows 10. No problem at all. This is just another case of Apple's arrogance. How many times have Apple users had to completely upgrade their systems - or even buy a new computer - simply because they decided not to support legacy programs? Backwards compatibility does not exist in the Apple world. They make beautiful computers but...
