- Choosing the right note-taking app is a very personal thing. I don't need to have all kinds of widgets, markdown formats, animated wallpapers, or databases to write down my thoughts, to-do lists, or my organization.
In this comprehensive video, I’ll explain how you can use Apple Notes as a pro on your iPhone, iPad, or MacBook. Learn to organize your life, or simply use the handy tricks in this video to write down your thoughts in a more efficient way.

My question to you: what notes app do you currently use? I personally use both Apple Notes and Notion (for more complicated stuff).
I used apple notes is better I think because it easy to use and I tried other ones it doesn’t work for me
Apple Notes … but it can get *really* flakey.
URLs in a note have a hair-trigger: tapping on the other side of the screen can even launch a website accidentally. That’s made even worse because of the invisible extended boundaries on URLs.
The Find in Notes got less flakey with iOS 16, but is still a randomness to which of a dozen occurrences Find shows first: first occurrence, last, in the middle?
The handoff between Find in different notes and Find within a note is clumsy: if the are multiple occurrences in one note only one occurrence shows, no indication of multiple occurrences, no automatic launch of Find within a Note.
Autoscrolling during a drag selection has been a problem of being too fast & really jumpy but that’s been less of an issue with iOS 16.
Apple Notes is my default choice. I use it extensively. The new tags feature is extraordinarily useful. I use Notion as a heavy-lifting notes app when I want to organise a lot of information, for example, for teaching.
Apple notes, especially for household info, like what air filter sizes and when bought, water filter info, and tons of other stuff. Car info, etc.
"Productivity is about doing less, not more"... Finally, this is so true.
Creating more output with less input.
I use Apple Notes exclusively. It does what I need it to do which is really all I need. I love how intuitive and minimalistic it is, it works very well without ever getting in the way. Lastly, I love that it is 100% free, and syncs across all my Apple products perfectly.
Straight to the point. No small talk introduction. Love it!
I copied this video link, then swiped up from the bottom right on my iPad and made a quick note.
Learned a few tips from this. I have used Notes for years and throughly enjoy it and find it extremely useful. Just the simple sharing of our “errands” note allows our family members to add to the shopping list. We go into the note listed by store and delete the items as we shop. No more forgetting stuff! That is just one example.
Thanks for putting together such a well thought out and structured video! Cheers…..
my question to you: why are windows conctantly moving? maybe you should not do that? i feel kinda seasick by watching this. and i really like the content. just cannot look at the video :/
Oh, seriously? I added a little shake effect because I didn't want the video to be too boring or for people to lose interest. I can remove that for the next videos if people want me to. I appreciate all the feedback! Thank you :)
@@TechnologyPapers It could be just me, if the content is interesting i don't need shiny things to be focused :) again, could be just me
That makes sense! I’ll stop doing the shake effect for the next couple of videos and check if it’s going to increase the watch time, thank you Matija!
@@TechnologyPapers not a problem! Thank you for the content
@AppPapers The video is super cool. But yeah the jitter on the windows is distracting a bit. Maybe a slow pulse montion "in and out" of the screen if you want to keep some movement. But the jitter is a bit much.
Apple Notes is nice. Years ago EverNote was the best but wait until you need to migrate your years of notes away from you app of choice. What I like about Obsidian is that all notes are stored in flat Markdown files.
This I didn’t know. Thank you very helpful 👍 😊
Wow! Well done.
Great video, excellent presentation. It is frustrating to have to wait for yearly iOS updates to have new features added to the Apple notes.
I wasn't expecting to learn something new from this, as I use apple notes every day, but I actually did! Thanks!
Please keep making very specific tip videos like this that are lesser known features and how to use them, I love the editing (besides the audio switching slides is loud and abrupt)
I’ll improve the sound effects, thank you for the feedback! :)
@@gavingreenough7612 wow! such a backhanded compliment and for something which benefitted you for free. the Ingratitude is deafening.
Great stuff !
I always used apple notes nothing else thanks for the tips we can always learn something new 😊
Useful video. My knowledge increased
However, as a Windows user there are some aspects here which make Notes limiting for me. I need an app which works seamlessly across Windows on my laptop, and my iPhone and iPad.
Great video production.
How did you edit this video? Software or App?
Thanks
Thank you! I use Adobe Premiere Pro.
@@TechnologyPapers Thank you! Great content. All the best💪🏻
I use tables a lot in Notes. I use repeated information in a table. Notes will be complete if I can create a dropdown and use it a cell. That will make notes complete for me.
Good content! I never leave feedback on presentation choices, but since you seem open and responsive to feedback, these changes would make your content more watchable: no shaky windows, minimal intrusive sound effects, speak a little slower, use onscreen text to reinforce your points, use chapters to make it easier to rewatch specific sections. Most of all: please get rid of the creepy talking emoji head. I had to block that part of my screen whenever it appeared. As others said: good content, clearly visualized, is what your viewers want. Thanks from a frequent user of Notes.
Thank you for the amazing feedback. I've actually implemented most of them already, so that's good news! As for memoji, do you really think it's that creepy? Haha! Your honest feedback means a lot to me, and I encourage more people to share their thoughts. I want to create the best and "straight to the point" videos that are ACTUALLY useful, so I'm always open to feedback and I'm always willing to make changes to my videos.
Add to Quick Note is not an option that shows on my phone (in Safari or Other Actions)?
Why is there NOT a REMINDER feature for a note. Seems like a big miss/weakness
Reminders are better done with Reminders app.
Just sharing a note to the reminders app is good enough imo
Or share a reminder link to apple notes
Is using apple notes for university lectures a good idea? My concern is that it won't work well when I have a lot of notes (I am talking about around 50GB of notes, probably less but I might add a lot of images so idk) I'm scared it will have certain limits when I put a lot of notes in apple notes
I used onenote the past 3 years of my higher education, but now I've switched to a macbook I'm nut sure whether this is the best option...
Great vid, got some good tips and tricks. Learnt some good stuff. Thanks very much.
Good content
Is anyone experiencing the note you're writing on taking huge and fast jumps (scrolls) up and down, after updating to 17 IOS? I have been using Notes forever and I love it! I use it a lot every day, and theses sudden screen scrolls are killing me! I complete lose focus having to search with my eyes where was I before the whole text just moved by itself. If this was an update, I sure hope they bring back a more stable screen experience in Notes.
Happy to know about Quick Note from control center. But other things are too difficult like selecting all in Safari which itself is a pain and then Quick Note still only saves a link to the page not all I selected.
Instead of selecting all on Safari use a new Quick Note feature that allows you to clip the entire article or whatever and open it in Notes.
The feature is called Clip to Notes. Super handy.
@@geoshock1 I have found that Notes is not worth the effort. Notes still do not properly sync across devices. I'm aware that with some effort I *might* be able to solve that issue, but I don't find Notes compelling enough to make that effort.
I want to make this app my primary app, but it is missing major code block formatting for coder.
how do you link to other notes within the app??

I don’t understand why there’s no reminder option in the notes, like in google keep, for example..
Okay, what’s an example…
🤔
I think I’m doing something wrong- it works in safari but not in brave. I’m trying to make a quick note by highlighting text and then add the quoted part to the website. Thank you
the thing that frustrates me about notes is when sharing a note it removes the tags from everyone else. E.g. I have a note that contains future purchases for diy projects on my note I have it tagged with the store where I want to purchase items from. When I go to the store I can open a Smart Folder with the tag of the store and I see all future purchases for any of the future projects. If my wife opens the shared purchase list there are no tags so she cannot see what else may be purchased from the store.
I use Notes for a lot of quick temporary notes. But my first requirement is being able to zoom in - and I can’t. I need to be able to type something’s then hand write notes next to the typing. My requirements for a notes app is much more complicated than Notes can handle.
I use Notes daily, one thing maybe you don’t know, Nots are not backed up in Time Machine, I accidentally erased a line in one of my notes. Apple support told me it is not backed up. Other than that I think Notes is a great Apple app.
Notes is good, but I wish you could circle a graphic object in Notes and rotate it. You can change the size or move it on a page or copy and paste the graphic object, but not rotate it.
I utilize Apple Notes for crafting grocery lists, which I then share with my family. Additionally, we collaborate on various notes for tasks such as vacation trip planning, managing payments, and maintaining subscription lists. However, at the office where Windows and Microsoft Office are the primary tools, I use OneNote. Meanwhile, my son utilizes Evernote at school because it allows him to insert pictures and annotate around them-an option not yet available in Apple Notes.Another drawback I encounter with Apple Notes is the inability to resize inserted images.
I did the same with groceries but the update on iOS reminders makes grocery lists a lot better. Can be shared and automatically will categorize groceries added into the right bucket (deli, dairy, meat, etc.)
No picture scale is so bad. I don’t understand, how they miss this feature…
The Notes app is like a Post-It note pad. The others are like notebooks. I try to use the Notes app again and again, but it just fails to do anything other than be unimpressive in every way.
All Apple Notes needs is a web clipper and business card scanner like Evernote and I will be set.
But you can’t lock notes with a pdf file, video, photo etc…
Thank you.
Very useful information - Just slow down a bit!
Noted! Thanks for the tip!
You can just slow the speed of the video playback and it will slow him down
seems unbelievable that there is no reminder feature....which is in every other note taking app you mention
I love Notes, but it is far different in terms of use from Notion.
Notes is great, but I recently changed to an android phone, so I need an app that syncs between iOS and android to work between my phone and iPad 😅
Google keep is probably your best bet. That's what I use.
Still too complicated for me !
Sometimes when my note is too long, the copy/paste option acts weird. It copies one text, but paste another part 😂 very annoying
No… I really need to be able to write more freely. And I don’t think that’s an unusual need! You can’t write in typed areas or on (even next to!) photos. For that matter you can’t even resize a photo! Honestly to my needs even Freeform is a better note taking app! I only find notes useful for tiny tidbits of information like measurements, or information that needs to be shared and collaborated like travel itinerary. For actually fully functional learning and planning notes doesn’t do it.
My apple notes is constantly crashing, why ?
Good content. PLEASE do away with the sound effects though. They are not needed and very annoying.
Thank you! And which ones, all of them?
@@TechnologyPapers Clicking when switching slides is the most distracting one.
The sounds don’t bother me.
Some good content but please don’t mix iPad functionality in with Mac functionality. It’s confusing and wastes my time
I trusted notes a long time ago until Apple lost all my notes and I was never able to get them back. Years of notes gone.
Were they synced to iCloud and still lost?
Yes. After several days, Apple apologized and said they didn’t know how to recover them. So I switched to using individual markdown files that I keep synced to multiple services and external storage.
Notion pulled a similar stunt on me. I created a page with very important stuff on one device, but when I switched to another device to pick up where I left off, everything was gone (most likely due to syncing issues). Ever since then, I make sure to back up my work regularly, whether I'm working on Apple Notes or Notion. Just sharing the content or exporting as PDFs and saving the files. If someone has a better "back-up system", please let us know!
Slow down your dialogue speed. Good content in the video but too fast to take in 😒😒
Talks so fast. Pretty lost eventually.
I just can't believe that @Google hasn't fixed the Google keep app. It's just horrible. I don't want am iPhone but Apple notes keep pulling me in there direction.
Yeah google keep is only good for being cross platform. It's list of features is useless. Samsung notes for Samsung phones is the next best thing, but nothing is as good as Apple notes, especially being free. That's just the way it is.
@@willbuschmann I Agree!
