- This is the perfect video if you are planning a visit to Linear Fisheries. We had never been until recently so we decided to record this video to help any new folk wanting to visit.
We fished brasenose 2 but there are lots of other lakes such as brasenose 1, st Johns or oxlease so the options are plentiful.

A good insight to what sounds like hell to me. I’m sure this will save a lot of people a wasted (expensive) trip. Not for me personally
Yup absolutely fair and not for everyone. Only for us occasionally really
Worth adding, always check the official page to see what lakes have exclusive bookings. If one is shut the others will fill quicker. Best bet is a Sunday on a week that doesn't have an exclusive on the complex. You can generally have decent wander arround and find some fish on one of the lakes. I understand not everyone can fish a Sunday/Wed but if i'm making the trip, I'll use annual leave and it's a much more enjoyable experience.
Sounds like fishing Wars not my bag at all I go for the social and to get away from the everyday madness so I'll give that one a swerve me thinks

Glad you did this video always had impressions that this is what it’s like, for that price you’d expect better facilities, Cromwell lakes have a toilet, shower and a fully equipped kitchen and it’s spotless…
Cromwell is somewhere we need to visit tbf. Heard loads of good stuff about it 👌
@@FreshFishing you can fish Cromwell pool with the small cabin and a little lake for 200 for the weekend which is basically same price as linear😂

How many times can you watch one guy fish the same lake for 10 years
he only lives 2 min away he always pops down and ask people when they are leaving he a top guy he was helping me out one day telling me where the fish are and best approach

Is it really that good here 😂 i see alot of videos on this fishery and every other video makes you wanna book it asap then you see how it really is with a genuine video i personally go fishing like many for the peace and madness from home life seeing what really goes on puts me off wanting to try new places in general but good luck to who ever this benefits

Very good insight, found exactly the same issues when I went, fished B2, I think we managed to get on peg 26? (Opposite the point) which was a double, car was right next to us, had a few bites upto 31 over 48 hours.. did enjoy it, is worth going.. but I think I’d try going later next time to avoid the free for all in the morning. Found we needed to check rigs hourly due to the crays… And yes we had a take away delivered to our swim, I think it was peppers.. wasn’t too bad either.

Nice vid , been the same for years, gets worse when the lakes are shut for compos, I always turn up Sunday dinner time hopefully when people are packing up, and if you want food delivered Google Witney takeaways
Toilets have always been shit , best time is in the week when they just been emptied,

As most of the other comments say "i will not be going here"(even though it's on my bucket list for carp fishing)not just because of price and the early morning carp wars ... Never even known about the lobster size crayfish!!! Thanks lads really good information. 👍

I personally go up there on Sunday afternoon and get a good choice of swims
If i did that 10 years ago we would be only anglers on the lake but got a bit busier nowadays.
Still my favourite venue and caught some lovely fish there.

Yeah can imagine turning up on a Sunday is a decent shout mate. What’s biggest you had out?
Bigest I've caught is 34lb ,I've yet to have a 40lb but one day.
I love to fish public lakes and canals surprisingly they can be a lot tidier and less busy than these types of waters

@@FreshFishing free to fish I’m at one now till Friday biggest I had out so far 27 not many fish it really,canal at back of this lake and I’ve had carp to 32 out of that one too

Best to get random time off work and go mid week (not holidays) if you can.

Manor farm fishing in Bedfordshire great place I used to fish linear far too busy waiting behind your swim… I do like the place staff are cool as well at linear 👍
Yeah the ballif we spoke to was a sound fella. Can defo see the attraction to linear but it is a proper rat race
Totally mate I used to fish there quite a lot on St John’s but very stress full, so I fish in Bedfordshire now much better and the lake has some proper chunks in there 👍

Norton Disney is similar set up tbh but the swims are far apart and feel quite secluded.

Don’t make the mistake of turning up early in the morning. In all the years I’ve fished on Linear, I’ve never joined the mad rush. I just turn up when I feel like it
Yeah I guess we thought turning up early was the best shout but maybe not. Tricky for us because it’s a 4 hour drive…
@@FreshFishing it’s a 2 hour drive for me. And apart from B2, I know the lakes reasonably well, because I used to live in the area.
Hardwick Smiths and Oxlease are usually quiet at this time of year. But the lakebed in Hardwick is like an egg box, with depths from 6ft to 25ft.
Oxlease is a bit more uniform, with an average depths of 9ft to 11ft.
Always follow the wind, especially a warm southwesterly wind in the winter.
To avoid crayfish, use hot chilli in your spod mix and avoid using tungsten putty, or tungsten coated hook links.
Does anyone know why the crays love tungsten so much?

I love linear but I tend to fish hunts corner or manor farm lake… book through catch app. I can’t be bothered with the crazy mayhem trying to get a peg

Yea they are both good lakes…. I’m fishing hunts corner again in March. Check them out on the catch app and there are videos on CZcams about them
Going there on a Friday is just mad
We both work Mon-Fri so it was the best option for us at the time.. Would defo try to go Mon-Wed in future if poss.

Its lovely every swim taken and spods blowing the water up, then the new breed of angler who needs a TV flashing on off in their biv all night and then the guys who only go for a social and aren't interested in fishing! Yes its great 😂
its on my list of lakes to visit but about a 2hr drive for me so i dunno id like to try St johns or brasenose 1🎣

You’d be better off heading to somewhere like Norton Disney. Less travel, great facilities and more orderly etiquette. Can’t speak more highly of Norton.
Aye Norton Disney is on the list to visit for sure mate. It’s also only around 2 hours away which is much more bearable haha
Never arrive early, no point. Better off getting there around 11 when people are packing up and you can jump in behind and get a good peg.

place is a joke. turned up twice last year to fish a lake what was meant to be opening. 3 hour drive to find the website messed up and the lake was actually closing. twice it happened same lake.. never go back again.

@@FreshFishing hardwicks. head bailiff tried to get us on Monor but we could only do two days, we was down for four. ended up at orchid twice. all the other lakes where closed or booked out.

its just a money making lotto , it used to be a nice place at one time when it was not so crowded and pricy
