    Here’s is a pinky-less alternative to that A major arpeggio.
    When your index is on the G 9th fret, pull it back to the fret and make the E shape, playing strings 5, 4, and 3 (no pinky stretch on the D string)
    Then slide you index (which was on the G string) up to the 9th fret and complete a D shape A chord (9-10-9).
    Much smoother and less chance of a dead/buzz C# on the D string

  • @JDiston1
    @JDiston1 Před 3 lety

    Just one thing.. on the A arpeggio, you're playing an extra note. For anyone else struggling with this part, the notes are:
    12th fret (A string)
    11th fret (D string)
    9th fret (G string)
    10th fret (B string)
    9th fret (High e)
    then bend on the 12th fret (High e)
    It's closer to the record and easier to play. Instead of cramming in 7 notes, you're playing 6 in the same amount of time.
    I'm not knocking the lesson, it gave me the the overall structure and you are a great teacher! Cheers Marty!

I definitely appreciate the little stuff like "showing the D-shape" on the E arpeggio and the Dmin arpeggio. Makes it so much easier to remember. I immediately plugged in to the minor scale shape, but the arpeggio is a little deferent way to think about the solo and it makes so much more sense to think of it that way.

    Hey Marty. Canada just lost a beauty today with Tragically Hip front man Gord Downy passing away. Would love a lesson on Wheat Kings (with solo work) or 38 years old. You the man.

    You really are the best guitar tutor. I wish we had somebody like you to guide us in your younger days. Love all the way from India.
