What's the point if it's all dead when you're done fighting? Chavezz asks. Thanos is an omnicidal maniac, the point for him is it's fun. As for Darkseid, I don't know as much about him, but I don't think he cares, because there are more universes out there.
Darkseid is a force that rivals the Source which is considered Omniversal in DC. That alone would be impossible to defeat but Thanos has some good, inconsistent feats that have him taking on Galactus, the celestials and eventually the Living Tribunal in King Thanos due to being as you quote, an ageless omnicidal maniac that has no limits.
Death Battle could have done a fun battle but they mostly focused on giving numbers to unquantifiable theories, using their composites in base form so Classic Thanos and the constant avatars Darkseid uses. Even if King Thanos is too inconsistent, Cosmic Cube and Heart of the Universe where major events equal to Flashpoint in DC that got skimmed over, Infinity Gauntlet is a practical trinket since every Universe in Marvel contains one and it doesn't work against the Multiverse since you would need to create a Gauntlet that rival the Multiverse.

King Thanos did do all of that but The Living Tribunal isn't nigh omnipresent he's hyperversal and the Pre Retcon Beyonder is Outerversal which is why he was above LT.
