I am a nurse and over a few weeks, cared for a terminal cancer gentleman in his early 40s who was a musician. We bonded a bit over music over a couple of weeks. I would bring to the conversation daily songs like this. Great, but not well known music and he specifically got excited to talk about this one in particular on a Wednesday with me. Basically he said, hell yes, I know it! 2 days later, Friday, I worked my day shift and he was declining. I knew he would die before I was back on Monday. I was off the weekend and before I left on Friday, I went back to his room with all his visitors present, grabbed his hand which he vigorously clenched and pulled me down to him as I bent over the bed and told him. I cant wait to hear you play all the music we have talked about. In 20 years of being a nurse, it has been the only time I was weeping over the end of life. We bonded previously and so grateful for the memory. Bonded over stupid, seemingly meaningless, crazy, groovy music like this. Wonderful!

I remember this song from 1980 and it brings back fond memories of that year. What I did not know until recently was that Rocky is the son of singer Johnny Burnette, who had a big hit in 1960 titled Dreamin'.

I was led here in 2022 after hearing of all things, Roger Voudouris' song Get Used to It on the radio and I suddenly thought also of this golden oldie.
