Thirdly, there is no denying that this OTK relative to other OTKs is terrible. You have to rely solely on chance, and as we saw here that opens you up to getting boned a lot. The deck is probably only good because the "supporting" cards are good.

      I'm sorry if you're attached to your rank, but the vast majority of rank 5-low legend players are not very good.
      The only thing real difference between that bracket and lower ranks is a higher percentage of completed netdecks, and even that's wildly inconsistent in the meme zones.
      Good players will finish that climb and either stop playing or start climbing into mid-high legend. The ones that don't make it up there are either really committed to their meme or playing their decks poorly.

    Tl;Dr The deck IS actually good, just look it up. Multiple people have hit top legend in Rastakhan AND Boomsday with this deck. I'm not trolling. Thijs was considering using this competitively last expansion (note: he won an Aston Martin in a tournament last expansion), and the deck is stronger now than it was then.
    I'm seeing a lot of negative comments about the deck~e.g. "lol this deck is trash, the combo is a coin flip", or "I don't see why this is better than x combo deck". Firstly-yes, the combo is actually trash. Even with optimal play (which this is NOT, Trump is not used to this deck and, believe me, this deck takes a TON of practice to play well), you'll often end up in coin flip scenarios where you simply have to hope for the right horseman. Secondly, yeah, whatever combo you're thinking of is probably significantly better than this combo. Priest just has to draw the right cards and boom, combo. Mechathun just needs to draw ALL the cards and boom, combo. Thirdly-no, x combo deck is probably worse than this one. The issue with the topsy turvy deck and most Mechathun decks is the lack of supporting cards. This deck doesn't have that problem whatsoever. Call to Arms is an incredibly strong way to flood the board which also helps draw your combo. Since it will often recruit creatures which draw you cards, it gets you to the combo super fast. Equality and similar cards give you a million board clears which ignore the size of your opponent's creatures and just get rid of all of them. Time out gives you a free turn. This deck has plenty of cards besides which make it incredible at stalling out games until you can either combo the opponent or win traditionally. Sunkeeper Tarim will even allow you to pull off massive amounts of burst damage and win out of nowhere if your opponent isn't paying attention. This deck has ridiculously good supporting cards, and that's why it's playable despite the combo being inherently unreliable.

  • @SuperHeroR

    I don't think combo decks are for you Trump. You are high on squeezing value out of single cards, but combo decks makes value with a combination of cards. So there were many times you needed to draw cards, and chose not to: this was an error.

      @tiramisukami Před 5 lety +6

      you'd think so ! but dog is obviously very skillful at the game, and there is a reason the deck is the way it is. imo the decklist is very competitive atm, and i can't think of any one or two cards i would cut in order to fit copies of blackwald pixie- you either cut non-combo pieces by dropping other useful cards ( those that cycle/draw, those that keep you alive ) or by cutting out essential combo pieces ( such as brewmaster, which is better than blackwald imo, so you might as well design a different deck )
      though, on paper, the double hero power seems strong for this deck archetype, a blackwald pixie turn is 7 mana minimum for only 2 presses of the button; this actually isn't very strong at all, because nearly every good deck atm has efficient ways of clearing minions - in any scenario, i would always rather be bouncing horsemen back into my hand, as it is much safer
      the only scenario i see the blackwald pixie adding any value to this deck is this: after bouncing at least 1 horseman to my hand, AND after my opponent passes the turn with at least 1 horseman on the board ( each horseman obviously being unique ), you could use 9 mana to play the horseman in your hand ( important that you play it first ), press the button, play blackwald pixie, then press the button a final time. this is a slightly more roundabout way of completing the combo, but is completely valid ! my only criticisms are that blackwald pixie is a dead card outside of this one, relatively specific scenario, and that when playing a combo deck, you have sooooo many setup turns wherein you float mana, so one of the biggest issues with combo decks is actually finding proactive cards to play each turn, not adding more dead draws to keep in your hand
      tl;dr ; you lose too much by adding blackwald pixie, i'd always rather complete the combo in other ways

    • @MesaCoast
      @MesaCoast Před 5 lety +3

      Before Rastakhan, yes, it was. It allows a lot of surprise wins~for example, with one horseman on board and one in hand, you could win immediately with pixie. However, you have to either keep a horseman around on board or have the coin for it to be worth inclusion. With the release of Rastakhan, however, cards like time out and shirvallah simply offer more consistency and frequently take that spot instead.
      Edit: so basically yeah I agree completely with Jo Thomas. I played the deck in boomsday and pixie is too much of a niche card when you have such powerful alternatives

    Assuming the opponent doesn't just allow you to collect horsemen on the board and you have to bounce 3 horsemen to your hand, you need to hero power, on average, 6 times to get all four unique horsemen: 1st hp always gets one you can bounce, for the 2nd one you need to hp on average 4/3 times, for the 3rd 4/2=2 times and the last one is again just 1 because you play the 3 in your hand first to guarantee it, that's 5+1/3, rounds up to 6. So that's a 6 turn lethal that requires you to draw the death knight and the bounce cards to even get started, and none of those cards can be tutored. All in all it's a pretty bad deck, essentially a combo deck that's so slow it loses to other combo decks

      YOu can't just ignore how many tools it has to survive against agro and midrange.
      You also can't ignore how hard it is to distrupt the actual combo.
      YOu also can't ignore that combo just kills the oponent oponent regardless of how much hp, armor or secrets it has up.
      SO yea sure it takes a while to setup on average but it is strong in all other areas and that makes it great.

      Yeah that really depends, are you looking to win, or to have fun?
      If you are interested in how good a deck is, just do a quick check at hsreplay.net.
      In case you are interested Odd Paladin is the deck with the highest winrate in the game, followed by Token Druid and Zoolock, and mind you they don't require that much dust to craft.
      For the decks that you mentioned, i think the one with the highest winrate is the Kingsbane Rogue. But hey don't let the desire to win hinders you from having fun, that's the point of the game after all

    • @gametips8339
      @gametips8339 Před 5 lety

      No because you cant spawn duplicates on board.
      Worst case scenario is.
      1. horseman is always good.
      2. horseman is 3/4
      3.third horseman is 2/4
      4. once you have first three you just play them and hero power gg.
      so 6/16 (24/64) to do it without retries.
      6/64 to do it with one extra try on failing the 2nd horseman once and suceeding the third one
      12/32 (24/64) to do it with one extra try on suceeding the 2nd horseman and failing the third one once
      so 54/64 times you pull the combo of with one or zero retries, which is 84 percent of time.
      Most others fall under 2 tries and very rarelly you will need 3 extra tries or more. Trump was just unlucky.
      ANd this is if oponent clears the horseman on board each turn which means he is using resources or giving you more time.
      SInce you got many tounts and board clears in the deck it is actually pretty reliable to pull it of.

    • @gametips8339
      @gametips8339 Před 5 lety +1

      @Don Buri
      Playing for value often means less pressure. It means playing cards in a way to get most value of of them as oposed to play for tempo to get as much on board on any given turn you can.
      SO what trump often does is hero power with paladin even if he has a two drop or two mana spell. This is playing for value, hero power every turn and save cards to play them later to get maximum amount of stats over time.
      Another example is a card whic heals and draws a card. Trump wants to play it for value to heal his hero or even better heal a minion. But often with this deck you just want to cycle it which is playing to get combo as fast as possible.
      It is only rational to play for value if oponent is likelly to do so as well. But if you are the slower deck oponent will go tempo or agro route to try to rush you down in that case you have to play less for value and more for tempo.
      So yea i agree with @King Bling, trump to often does out value plays where he would be much better of doing tempo plays or draw plays to get combo faster.
      And imo... there is no combo deck out there that this deck can rush down. This deck is just not fast enough, so trying to pressure ni any way for enemy to get combo out slower is pointless. Only real pressure you can do is to hero power every turn after you get the Hero in order to force oponent to clear it to slow your own win condition down.

      akhs denlew the deck is excellent if you don’t get bad rng. The trouble is you frequently will get bad rng, just as you will frequently get good rng, but the fact that there is rng built in to the combo means it is inherently inconsistent, so yeah some people would assess the deck as being bad for that reason. I got up to rank 5 with it going from a 75% win rate down to about 67% approaching rank 5. Now I’ve been playing it at rank 5 and suddenly uther is in the bottom 3 cards every fucking game, or I miss the 75% horseman chance 3 times in a row and give the opponent who was totally out of resources time to build back up. It’s incredibly frustrating to lose to rng like this so yeah, not sure I’d recommend it. I’ll repeat that it is a great deck, though. Your rng doesn’t even need to be good, it just needs to not be bad.
