    I think that this was the best and scariest character that Demi Moore has ever played! She sure had the best voice and everything else. It's no wonder they cast her for the role in this movie! I wish they would cast her sgain in more movies for the big screen! She has a lot of talent that needs to be used as she's getting older.

    Demi did a great job playing a female rapist and sexual harasser. Just like what Alvarez said that women can be just as deviant, malicious, and a predator. Especially when she tries excusing her action and saying “he loved it so it wasn’t rape or anything like that”. And the way she changed from trembling rape victim to douche bag rapist. Even tried gaining sympathy from Ms Alvarez.

      Yes. The role offered several opportunities for her to add some nuance to the dialog to expand beyond a single dimension character. She shows a little of that in the scene where she harangues Tom for being late and then gleefully smiles as she walks away.

    Never understood the beginning of this scene. The two of them are walking up the escalator facing the other direction, but Demi Moore and her lawyer look up as though they're doing hi-fives and cartwheels. It was necessary so they could have the nervous looks while the next scene's audio bled in, but it just didn't make a lot of sense.

      They already know that Tom instructed Catherine to tell them no deal the night before, so they knew they had something that would turn the tables.

It was a response to seeing something... like they were shocked to see them there at all. It's almost as though Michael Douglas and lawyer made some visible show of confidence or happiness at the top of the escalator, but that seems an odd thing to leave to the audience to assume.

And Tom turned down the deal. It all added up to impending trouble for Meredith's claims. And remember it was important for Garvin's deal that Meredith come out clean.

It's as though they're just noticing a group of police officers at the top of the escalator staring down at them, with Michael Douglas pointing.
      Looks of unease, looks of frustration... fine, within context. But those were looks of shock. And the only thing they have to be shocked over, at least without assuming events not depicted or even insinuated, is the fact that the defendant arrived to the escalator before them.
