- Malai kofta is popular as well as the most sought-after vegetarian Indian dish in restaurants. Malai means cream and Kofta are fried dumpling balls.
Malai Koftas are melt-in-the-mouth fried dumplings of cottage cheese, napped within a creamy smooth curry. Happy cooking!

Ingredients
For Malai Kofta Curry
Tel (Oil) - 1tbsp
Makhan (Butter) - 2tbsp
Dal Chini (Cinnamon) (2”) - 1stick
Tej Patta (Bayleaf) - 1no
Laung (Cloves) - 3nos
Kali Elichi (Black cardamom) - 1no
Elichi (cardamom) - 3nos
Shahi Jeera (caraway) - 1tsp
Pyaz (onion) chopped - 1 cup
Hari Mirch (green chilli) chopped - 1 no
Lehsun (garlic) chopped - 1tbsp
Adrak (ginger) chopped - 1tbsp
Haldi (turmeric) - ⅓ tsp
Kashmiri chilli powder - 1 tbsp
Dhaniya (coriander powder) - 1tbsp
Jeera powder (Cumin) - ½ tbsp
Tamatar (tomato) chopped - 2cups
Namak (salt) - to taste
Kaju (cashewnts) - handful
Pani (water) - 2½ cups
Kasoori Methi Powder - ½ tsp
Chini (Sugar) - 1tbsp
Cream - ¼ cup
For Kofta
Paneer (cottage cheese) - 1cup
Aloo (potato) boiled & mashed - 1cup
Dhaniya (Coriander) chopped - 1tbsp
Adrak (ginger) chopped - ½ tbsp
Hari Mirch (green chilli) chopped - 1 no
Cornflour/Cornstarch - 1½ tbsp
Namak (salt) - to taste
Kaju (cashew nuts) chopped - 2tbsp
Tel (oil) - for frying

This recipe especially of the gravy is so amazing that I just cook the gravy and store a couple of bottles in the freezer for a quick curry night 😂 add some pieces of paneer and paneer butter masala is ready in less than 5 minutes! Thanks so much Kunal!!!

urvashi gupta I just used regular malai which was already at home. It tasted yummy. You can use Amul cream too, but the effect will be nearly the same.

If possible, please avoid calling it dirty. Food is life and divine and we do namaskar before eating it. Please don’t mind and take it lightly 🙏😊
