I’d love the bookmark if it’s still around 😂
Broke my heart a bit when I saw your name was no longer on Mr. Pilkington, Alec! When Nate mentioned if anyone was interested in the bookmark, I, immediately, thought of you! Who better to have the bookmark? NO ONE!!!! Hope it lands in Montana with you!
Agreed, my first thought was to send it to Alec!
Yeah, send it to Alec.
Only if you build a reliquary for it.
It should go to you.
That is awesome! So pleased the fix was that simple!
I'm surprised with all the fettling you did with your equipment that you didn't get round to fixing it yourself Alec!! ;o)
When's your next vid alec
@@lanceparkhill2737 right need some black smithing in my life
And just needed to tighten the belts to the motor but yeah it was really simple! (Never put in the vid) Such a great machine!
@@natesforge It's so good to see that you're taking care of it.
You should send the "bookmark" to Alec. That goes without saying! ;)
Agree
Agree
Lord Roo, that is a fantastic idea!
Nate, if you don't send it to Alec I (and possibly a majority of your newer subscribers) will be quite disappointed.
Pilkington bookmark? If I win I'm sending it to Alec!
Defo send the bookmark to Alec ;)
I think it would be great if you sent the Pilkington bookmark to Alec Steele
yup i agree, its gonna be very sentimental treasure for him
Acid etch "I Fixed It!!!" on it first!!
send it back to Alec and have a collaboration
Make Alec Cry! Send it to him. 😁😂🤣😂
...no, just the "bookmark. 😉😁
Send the bookmark to Alec ! Also you should restore mr pilkinton to it’s original blue color :)
I think I like the was it is, each layer of paint is a story so for the time being I am gonna keep it the same :)
Saw blades as springs!? That is a great tip! You just solved a springy problem I had with a few projects I'm working on. Thank you! And best wishes for a speedy recovery!
Thanks man and I am glad I could help
Always nice to find a good up-and-coming channel! I'm gonna agree with everyone and say send the bookmark to Alec.
I think Alec deserves the book mark! Almost at 10K, nice to see how fast this channel is growing!
Happy New Year to you and Mr. Pilkington. Can't wait to see you both create some amazing stuff
Great to see another post, get that finger rested and healed bro we are expecting great things from u and mr.p 😉👍
Awesome video. Bookmark needs to go to Alec!!
Also.. when you disassemble something, would be useful to explain what you saw and what you did (eg in the first chamber and pouring oil in). Am surprised that the first ran had no gasket, a thin bead of gasket sealant would help.
Cheers and keep up the good work (and hopefully finger heals up, ouch!)
I thought the same thing. I also cringed when I saw him taking the chisel to the mating surface. A sheet of gasket cut might actually be better. Used for sealing flanges at much higher pressures than the pilkington will ever see.
Yeah there was nasty lumpy dried oil that goes into it all around the top, I think it was anyway because when the compresser oil dries it goes solid and white, weird stuff but I am gonna get some gasket selent and put it around! The chisel didn't score the surface it was already very riged and rough! ... hope that explains it
Nate's Forge that white stuff looked like gasket adhesive from the video. The roughness looked to be circular which is fine for sealing. It is when they are radial that it causes an issue with sealing. Might not want to use gasket in a can or a similiar product because of that piece that looks like a relief or valve of some sort. It could end up locking that in place and interfering with its operation.
@@Worrsaint that's was my thought to start off with! Gonna get some soapy water and put it around it and see if it bubbles
Yup that's a good idea to check for leaks, I agree a gasket might be needed.
Great work fella.. hope your finger heals and you're back up to speed soon.
Well done Nate, finding the problem and uniquely solving the problem. I would cherish that bookmark if I were lucky enough to win it. I just got myself a Mr Pilkington sweatshirt from Alec because I feel great affection for this gentle giant. So happy you have him now and have cured his idleness. xxx
Good job Nate! Happy New Year to you too! May it bring new opportunities and successes!
Happy New year! Thank you! Hope you and your family are doing well! And had a lovely Christmas!
I'd love the bookmark... I have no real idea what I'd do with it though! 😂
Any chance of doing a 'how Mr Pilkington works type video??
And congrats on all the new subs, well deserved!!
Glad it’s up and running again! Congrats on all the subs!
8.4k subscribers when I watched. Congrats! And that would be an awesome bookmark!😆
Well done! I love the ingenuity of that fix!
It nice to see Mr Pilkington went to an enthusiast who appreciates it's eccentric nature. ...And Happy New Year.
Great find and good work!
Well done, happy New Year
Send it to alec! Awesome u fixed the old fella!! Nice one! Happy new year!
Great to see you taking such good care of Mr. Pilkington. And good luck on the recovery of your finger. Me, I'm slowly but surely scraping together my own smithy and I've set the goal of being able to hold a small demonstration on Easter.
That's awesome well done dude! And thank you I appreciate it! Send me a link when you do your demonstration!
@@natesforge Sure thing, mate! 🍺
subscribed...I hope many more subscribers will follow, you deserve it!
Great job, Nate! Congrats on the growing number of subscribers. Hope your finger heals properly. Stay safe! P.S. Please let us know the bookmark has been sent to Alec!
Great idea, saw blade for a reed valve, nice :) love it when it's that easy to repair something.
It was so easy and he works like a dream again
Hello Nate, its great to see Mr Pilkington has a good home, have been watching your videos from the start, please keep them coming. Brilliant. Geoff Lewis, Wales, UK 🏴
I'd enjoy a Pilkington Bookmark! lol Your video editing is great btw. :)
Happy New Year Nate!!! Very nice job on the repair mate. I’m here because I’m following Mr. Pilkington, so now that he’s fixed you need to start using him!!, now... less yack yack... more whack whack! (Just taking the piss there chap. Good job, now get some metal hot and go pure mule on it!!)
Hahahhaha brilliant! I'll keep that in mind! thanks tho dude happy New year to you too!

Yeah it was really nice and simple to work on! Lots of fun!
Good stuff watching from Louisiana!

im making one soon lol
Congratulations my friend. You told Alec that you would take care of Mr. P and you did. Best thing is, another than you time the cost was nothing. Awesome Job. Sorry to hear about your finger, I almost cut the end of my index about a year ago. I was a long recovery, but at least it works. Keep up the great work!
Send Mr. P's old part to Alec as a shop warming gift!
....I guess I wasn't alone in this thought.
Oh nooooo hope you heal up fast! Great to see Mr Pilkington being treated with love and care. 👍
thank you for giving me the bookmark, i never have watched a video of you till today.
Glad to see Mr P has a great new home and is being well cared for!
9000?! You deserv it, good work!
Nice work aye!
Nice job! Can't wait to see you knock something out on Mr. P!!!
Beautiful add to your shop.
I think Alec should get a piece of Mr Pikington :-) great video by the way Nate keep the great content coming buddy
It's good to see that you care about Mr. P. Keep going on man!!!!
Thanks dude!
Ah the joys working with old machinery, gunk in places you didn't even realize existed
Haha that is so true! So satisfying tho!

Nice find dude it just goes to show them old machine just need alitte love and they work great.
Congratz on the 9.2k subs!!
So glad you got it fixed.
Who got the bookmark??? I hope it was Alec Steele :)
I hope you have a great day & be safe.
Ace job of coming up with a home fix for the valve!
Keep up the great work, and take care of Mr. Pilkington like that and he'll take care of you just fine.
Yeah exactly what I plan to do! Haha thank you!
Mr.Pilkington got the love he needs =) good to see that GJ nate
It was interesting seeing some of the internals of Mr.P would love to see the mobile forge setup you have
Nice I am glad
Yes to the bookmark!
You know, I came for mr Pilkington, but stayed for the quality content, keep it up Nate!
It was a nice moment to see the hammer rise properly. And so simple to repair too, very nifty idea with the saw blade. It makes you wonder, why did Alec never do this...? I've got to say though, if it were me, I could not have resisted the temptation to strip all the old paint off and give the Pilkington a nice new coat all over.
Damn dude. Sorry about your finger. Glad you were still able to get a video out.
A pilkington bookmark ^w^ quite amazing
Great fix! And def send bookmark to Alec.
That would be a lovely bookmark if you are willing to ship to Brazil let me know ;-)
Keep up with the good work. Cheers
Forge it with damascus and scribe it with the pilkington logo, then send it to Alec :)
That is a cool idea
@@natesforge Lets get too it then! :) With GOLD INLAY!!! :P :P
Send it to Alec, think this is an nice gesture.
Happy new Year by the way from germany
Happy New year!!! Thank you
Deutschland ist halt überall vertreten XD
Can you do a shop tour, love to see how you're set up and also what you started out with
Great to see Mr Pilkington back to full health. 👍. Now I bet Alec is kicking himself for not doing that years ago. 😁
Good work Nate Fingerman.pat from Belgium
DO I want part of Mr. P? YEAH BOI! Good luck with the healing process!
I think the whole planet wants you to send the bookmark to Alec ! 😁
liked subscribed and hit the bell. personally i think alec should make his own bookmark and post a video about it . ;-)
Why not just flip the original valve over? The arched bracket would hold the far side down and the bend in it would act like a spring holding pressure toward the middle. The effect should be a tight seal. Just using a flat piece against the face of the valve body won't seal as well, and will warp out of flat much quicker. It obviously worked, for now, but hold on to that original in case you need to fix this problem again, you can just flip the original over and put it back in. Good to see that ram pulled up like it should. Mr. P has apparently gone to a good home.
@@Zengineer the hold down would force it flat, the question would be if the spring load would seal it too tight.
Yeah I never showed it well enough. There was no way it would seal it was twisted and bent up and down with bits of steel worn away. It was easier to make a new one! But I did do exactly what you suggested for one of the other ones so you are totally right
@@Zengineer As the depth of the bend would be in the middle, it would be under spring action and the hold down would hold it flat.
Nice clean fix.
Glad you found the problem and managed to get a bodge fix for it... :o) Pilkington Bookmark should go to Alec, I'd feel he'd welcome it as a reminder of all the work he did with the power hammer in his workshop and his home country... ;o)
Oh and Gratz for nearly getting to 7.5k subscribers... you should really do something to celebrate that, although with your injury I guess you're not going to be hammering out anything any time soon... maybe work through a pair of intelligent hands? *thinking*
Thank you so much! Yeah I might have to listen to the people haha
I know it's crazy it's 9.3k now ahhhhh
That how I have been keeping up with my orders a friend from Norway came over to help (time to forge)
But thank you so much!!
I Would love the bookmark Nate!!
8.4K as of Jan 4. Love the videos
Judging by age, I figure that "bookmark" and I may have been in the same year at school together. He was a way better student. :D
But I would love to have it, if old scrubs from the US are eligible!
Best of luck and happy New Year to you!!
Happy New Year! All the best for 2019!
Best of luck with the finger. Hopefully you'll be able to continue counting to ten on two hands.
My new years resolution is to read a book a week. I would love a Mr pilkington's book mark to join me on my adventure of the mind this year
A self confessed idiot will always get more respect than an idiot that denies it👍
Good to see you back. nice that the channel is growing.. such a wonderful idea😊, enjoyed all of them.
Cheers from Tasmania🍺
Awesome thank you so much! And Tasmania isn't a small hop and skip away haha and I like that saying!
😁 the saying is yours. I'll swap you for a lttle dodad once you get back to forging, but take docs advice and dont rush the healing process.
we are all dickheads in someone elses eyes,so embrace your inner dickhead and enjoy it 😏
I’ll take the bookmark rather happily
Make a little saw with that bookmark!
Can't wait to see him forging something
Would make an interesting bookmark.
You need to go to Montana and give alec Mr.Pilkinton's valve in person
I could use the bookmark.
Drilling holes in the saw blade replacement, if you heat the exact spot with a small torch and let it cool, you should be able to drill it then, of course drilling thin sheet can be a pain.
send it to Alec for Mr.P Great work with the restoration
I'll take the bookmark!
Mr. Pilkington needs his own channel!
Well done nate! And to think Mr steele serviced the Bridgeport but left out the legend that is MR P ! It's mad to think how old it is an that's all that was wrong 👌👍
So, Mr. P. brought me here, but the Scotsman made me subscribe. Where in Scotland are you and is the drone footage at the open from nearby? Looks gorgeous! Cheers, and keep up the videos!
Awesome! Near Dumfries! Naw shamefully not it's in the Pyrenees haha
Still lovely, just reminded me of a few areas in the Highlands!
Book mark me!!! Come on man. You know you want too! Lol. Hey, don't go smooshin' anymore didgets. We subbed to see what your gunna do with Mr.P! Not smoosh the booger picks.😆
Good luck and Happy New Year!
Hahahahah man I laughed so hard! Best name for fingers I have ever heard! Thank you! Happy New year
Best book mark ever. Please please!
Well done fixing the power hammer.
Thank you!
You should find a way to send the Mr. Pilkington bookmark to Alec Steele
MANTAB 💯💯💯🌷👍🏻🙏🏻
These machines are built to last with a bit of care and attention. Glad to see you looking after it, and looking forward to seeing the first project (knives?)
Love bookmarks!
Dive right into it eh. good job I like your style
Haha head first! Thanks!
Dibs on the bookmark
I'd love the pilkington original bookmark!
I knew that hammer never hit your fingers, because they would be gone. No saving a macerated finger after a blow dealt by that beast 😂
I had a finger injury 8 months ago and it still has more healing to do apparently. Hope yours heals fastser
