Yeah, I would definitely take this to the best body shop I knew. If I did it, the car would come out of the garage looking like the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.
I agree with the majority of these comments. It looks amazing. GM should’ve done this. I think you guys would sell more units. If you did the work in the house or sold finish units with the agreement that you get their old top.

I think that looks awesome. My concern is you cut out main supports on the deck lid, so how does that affect the structure integrity. They were obviously there for a reason. I have a HTC and you can raise and lower the top at 30 mph. What's going to happen to the lid when you do that now? I wouldn't do this mod myself, I would take it to a body shop to have them do the install. It looks really sharp, looks like it could have come from the factory.. GM should incorporate this into their HTC design. I'm sure they would sell more HTC's as many coupe buyers wanted to see the engine.
Air brush a picture of your engine on the trunk - boom - problem solved ;) This does look pretty cool though - I'd probably purchase a second hatch and go for it myself :)
Yeah I would definitely get a deck lid from the salvage yard and cut on it. Zero chance I would let a shop cut on my C8, so salvaged piece is the best option for me. I really love this though, looks fantastic and can definitely pass for OEM ( design wise).
If you all produced a complete replaceable decklid that just needed to be painted I would buy it knowing it would be significantly more money. But I would never cut up my own car.

Looks great but having that first clear window cover they installed and then the actual window, wouldn't the engine bay over heat? Didn't look like it would get enough cold air.
The lead engineer spoke about this, if I’m remembering right it has to do with heat shielding was insufficient with a transparent material. Longer term heat exposure with roof collapsed may damage the roof materials.
I hope this might make it to being available from the factory one day; just like the aftermarket made available the clear cover for HTC, and now the 2024 HTC you can order it from factory.
This seems the engine only shows when the top is up but when down I dont think it would show. Thats probably why chevy didn't do it or chevy will do a similar thing in the future as the c8 is said to have a 10 year run from rumors I've heard. If that's true chevy will have something like this after the 6th year of the c8 to freshen it up and make more sales.
It looks nice but with the entire kit, engine cover and what others things you have to buy and install to look good it would cost more then 4k maybe even more then 5k just to see a plastic engine cover when the top is up. Most of the time you drive a convertible top is down. For that money i wouldn't do it. A nicely loaded c8 htc z51 will cost a little over 100k after tax. Maybe if a used high mileage one for around 65k and no more warranty maybe but on a new car probably not and it might avoid warranty if a dealership wants to be that way.

LOL this "convertible is a bit of a misstep. Gigantic buttresses remain AFTER dropping the top. The point of the C8, the mid-engine is hidden. the much less expensive coupe is far better looking.
The convertible is a non starter for me. If GM had done this, I still would not have it. I ordered a 3LT Z51 in November ‘22. I am more than happy with this car. Will not modify it other than intake screens I have installed. But this is just me. You do you. Too bad GM didn’t do this from jump street. Seeing the engine is simply a must.

For me, that is one of the many things I like about the C8 HTC.....NOT seeing the engine.
Wow i was just saying this is why i was not going to buy a speedster so now i can
To be honest you guys should make that frame in carbon fiber it would look so much better
Just one concern from me. You cut out the support system that makes it strong, so how is it reinforced since those parts are gone?
The bonded window frame and glass is a stronger reinforcement stucture than the small bracing that was removed.
I hope this might make it to being available from the factory one day; just like the aftermarket made available the clear cover for HTC, and now the 2024 HTC you can order it from factory.

does this also work for the z06 convertible?
That’s fire im decently doing this to my soon to be ordered c8
I imagine you have to buy the intake manifold from the coupe because the intake manifold on the convertible is just a black plastic manifold.
How much for the kit?
Where do I get that engine intake cover?
This needs to be a factory option. Dealers couldn't install in this manner.

It’s a shame they don’t do this at the factory. Nice piece of customization.
This is nuts, who in their right mind would do this?
I’d be inclined to by a HTC if I could get you to fly down and install this window.
What does it look like with the top down?
When the tops down you just see the body color of your roof through the window.
You still can’t see the engine when the top is down.
Does it void the warranty?
yes it might.
100%
Cool does this work for a c8 Z06 also??
