    Good job, you totally nailed it about the meaning! And I really appreciate you were looking for a translation to get the song right 👍All the members of Rammstein grew up in Eastern Germany, which was a dictatorship at that time. So, they really know what it is like to live in fear...

      I don't know why there are always people trying to avoid the identity of Rammstein, Rammstein is a Soviet German band, they consider themselves citizens of the GDR, don't lie, that in the video you can see that it is about the fear they instill in the whole world in particular that of emigration as you can see or the propaganda on television or those social classes of weapons and money. And we all know that the West, especially the United States, promotes these policies.

    So happy that you've added your "Angst" reaction! Good job, well interpreted the meaning of the video. Kudos to you that you cared to find the lyrics, that adds so much! However, for future Rammstein reactions try autotranslated CCs - these work pretty well 😁
    Angst is now my favourite Rammstein song!

      @theinvisibleneonrainbowzeb2567 Pƙed rokem +2

      Yeah the autotranslated English subtitles have been really good and useful on the new singles definitely (anything from the Zeit album) you just need to go in the settings when you turn CC on, there's an option in the settings menu to select auto translate language, select that, drop down menu, find English and Bob's your uncle.
      There's also the channel "Educated Marine" who has put up the audio tracks from the new album with English translations too, unsure if he's done the official videos but he's definitely got the audio. And for much of their back catalogue I believe.
      And if you fancy a slightly more in depth look check out the channel "German with VlogDave" who is a native German and able to give a much greater understanding of some of the linguistic nuance and cultural references that is not German people would likely otherwise miss.
      Keep 'em coming, might actually catch you on a live again soon!

    Interesting fact about this Schwarze Man - bogeyman: years ago there was a chold's play called "Who's afraif of bogeyman". One child asked "Who's afraif of bogeyman?" and all other kids answered "Nobody" and the game started.
    This time mass media are doing their best, and - as Till is singing - EVERYONE is afraid of bogeyman...

    Great reaction and it helps to check the lyrics. They are eating Negerkuss, rougly translated as kiss from a negro. That name isn't used anymore. We in The Netherlands had the same: it was called Negerzoen, but they changed the name because people were becoming upset about it.

    • @nobodynemoq
      @nobodynemoq Pƙed rokem +3

      That's what I love about Rammstein - the ambiguity in the lyrics bringing various interpretations. And then comes the video, messing even more: on the one hand we know that "Black man" is a bogeyman, on the other hand Negerkussen, refugees...

  • @BarnsOfChris

    That moment when they began to shoot their TVs was not about fighting the system I believe. In a twist of irony, the extreme isolation and paranoia turned their fear to the only thing they still listen to: the media itself becomes the final fear target. With that, the detachment from reality is complete and the people get sucked into chaos.

    Great video man!
    Nailed it with the meaning for sure.
    One thing I realised is that at the end in the scene where Till is hitting the TV with the lawnmower, with each hit the colour begins to come back, signifying that you begin to think for yourself and go back to normal when you start to remove that which tries to control you.
    Again sick video mate, hope to see more soon!

    Saw them live the day you uploaded this! I think it was 50k audience, huge stadium, absolutely epic show. If you haven't got your tickets for the N America tour this summer, then try and get some ASAP, you need to get yourself to one of their live performances because it is unlike anything else you're likely to experience. Seriously, do it. You will not regret it!
    One interesting point though, as it grew dark and I looked across the sea of people I realised that a good number of them, maybe half or more were there, live at this incredible awesome show, watching it through a little rectangular screen held up in front of their faces. Like, WTF??!! put it down and actually LIVE this experience! That is how you make memories!!

    I don't watch "normal" TV programs. I stream series and documentaries. I use CZcams and sometimes Twitch. I don't read a newspaper. From time to time I look specifically for news that interests me and for topics where I also need to find out more. I have more than enough worries about my life and health. No more Facebook and definitely no Twitter! This abstinence is good for me. Nobody has to live like this! But I recommend trying it out once, maybe for a week. I'm telling you, the world will keep spinning even then. However, everything is a little more relaxed! 😉✌

    • @theinvisibleneonrainbowzeb2567
      @theinvisibleneonrainbowzeb2567 Pƙed rokem +1

      Pretty much same, I haven't even owned a TV for about 15 years now and not once have I missed it.
      I never got the hang (or point) of twitter.
      I did have a facebook for a few years when I was at uni but mainly because I was elected as a student faculty liaison and it was the easiest way to keep all that stuff in one place. Ended up not deleting it right away and started getting sucked into the brainless scrolling. When I became severely ill a few years ago I was in hospital for months, and all my energy was used up with trying to not die. I certainly didn't check my phone or try and log on to facebook or whatever. When I came out of hospital I felt like I ought to post something, and then I thought - why? This is just programming, I don't actually want to look on there. Realised it just sucks you in makes you miserable. Never been back on.
      I think the only things I use now are youtube for if I want to watch something, and texts and emails.
      People seem to find me strange for it. I find myself a lot happier. Not scrolling through news updates, not dealing with fb crap, the same shite on the tv, paying for newspapers that are almost all owned by the same couple of billionaires despite the name on the front, fuck that!

    • @ErwinStechapfel
      @ErwinStechapfel Pƙed rokem +1

      You're right, especially if you're happy with it! My neighbor for example has no internet, no smartphone. He has a radio and a pretty old TV (no flat screen) - no cable TV or anything like that - on which he maybe watches a DVD every few weeks. He doesn't know anything like FB at all. He's in his late 50s and it's working for him. If he ever needs something for his model building, he comes over and I order it for him because we don't have a good shop locally. It works!
      The world is turning a little too fast in my opinion. Humans are already overwhelmed with this constant exchange of information / opinions / hostilities. The reason for many problems in society. You only have to look at the last 2 years.^^
      Don't get me wrong, of course it also has a lot of advantages, but as you already write, when you get to a point where reality hits you hard, you realize that this "modern lifestyle" becomes pretty unimportant.
      Quote: "People seem to find me strange for it. I find myself a lot happier." *And that’s the only thing that matters!!*
      Thank you for your message and I wish you a lot of health and joy for every day of your life.

    Hello. Glad you made a reaction to my request and you enjoyed it.
    And you are right. The song itself is about fear and how we are being brought up with it (and this way being controlled?)
    " Whose is a afraid of the black man/ bogeyman" is a Kid's game that goes back to mideveal times where the plague was called the black death. The video is a masterpiece. It portrays the philistine going to his 9-5 job, barbecue on the weekend, gossiping over the news. Behind the clean facade an abysses of fear and the resulting hatred open up nourished by the media and what we were taught in our childhood.
    In the outro there's a spicy, provocative detail and every German knows immediately what it's all about. The band eats chocolate foam kisses. I don't know the English term for this candy. Until a few years ago, chocolate foam kisses were still called "Negro kisses" or "moor head". And many of those same philistines were enraged by the name change. I don't know, out of defiance or stupidity, they still call it that. And of course, Rammstein wouldn't be Rammstein if they didn't also express their opinion on Europe's migration policy. Fortress Europe.
    As always with love from Germany đŸ˜ŽđŸ€˜

    I think even in the end, when they eventually overcome the fear (or at least detach from the link to fear) and let (limited) color back in, they never leave their comfort zone (circle), as it's convenient as it is, keeping the woman and her child (refugees?) outside in their own circle

    What also gets touched on big tine by this song is racism and the extreme disproportion of power. Through media, the black mother and child instigate fear on the white middle class citizens as well as they are fearful of them. Same goes for the white men who are fearful of the black mother and child as well as they instigate fear on them.
    But the white men have money to buy and build brick walls, they are able to arm themselves, they basically "have".
    All the while the black mother and child don't "have". They sit on sandy soil, they don't get visited by salesmen, the barbed wire that surrounds them wasn't build by them, and likewise the media didn't play a part in that too it was already there, symbolizing the limits of their power. They can't act on their fears, they can only sit and watch.
    That shows the absurdity of racism, of fear from refugees. Instigated or at least increased by media consumption.

    You’re 100% on it. But a growing amount of people see this now, they’ve pushed too far. People get used to fear and recover. We’ve seen it in history many times. The “end” is near. This whole album is made around what most people in society are suffering from. It seems only the “weird” people that don’t fit in a cubicle see what is happening. And it starts at school and as a kid. Wake up!!
    I’m Dutch and I speak German among other languages. It’s a pity you don’t understand it, because it is genius in German. It doesn’t always translate well.
