- If you guys watched our first episode at the military base, we probably caught you by surprise with Headteacher Dave's special appearance. We have been planning this surprise for a very long time and we're glad we can finally share this side of the story. We had to fly Dave out on a separate flight, get him a seperate accomodation, bring him down to Jinhae on a train, and hide him in the base before the boys arrived. This all felt like a secret mission, which nearly came so close to being busted right before the reveal. Today we have prepared an extra episode to share the back story of how Dave came to join the boys in the boot camp. But before we get into any of that, we can't not feed Dave his first meal back in Seoul..!! We've managed to finally get a reservation at Imok, one of the hardest places to book in Seoul right now.

Honestly goes to show what having a positive impact in your school system can do for some kids too.. I feel like 99% of us disliked “most” of the staff in our school systems.. the ones who really care are the ones you always remember and Dave certainly cares/cared for these guys!

Josh's "sarangheyo" and little heart to the chef was absolutely hilarious and so cute - no matter how many times he's had incredible food from all over the world, the way he still get excited and retains this child-like happiness is so sweet. I'm vegetarian so the food is why I watch these videos but for the people, their reactions and seeing relationships deepen with each vid! Thank you for sharing these wonderful moments!

The fact they wrote a letter FORMALLY and not just asking Josh and Ollie says a lot about the boys. Amazing.

8. 몇 년간 다른 사람 페이스북 프로필을 계속 보고 있었다. 참고로 그 이전에 과거에 막 심하게 괴롭히고 학교 친구들이 보는 앞에서 막 때리기도 했었었다. 그렇게 내가 말을 걸었다. OO야, 너 나 괴롭혔던 거 반성하니?

Harvey truly is taking this seriously. Even when Mr. Smith walked out he did smile, but for the most part he remained at attention and did not become overly expressive. Very impressed by his attitude and how he is taking this.
People like Dave are what we need in the education system, to be honest. For the boys to get together and write that letter, asking if he could come along as well shows the impact he's had on them during their school days. You'll always remember figures in your formative years like that.
Adding Mr. Smith really adds to this series. You can see how much the lads missed him

Joel behind the camera forgetting English was hilarious. I also loved the brief little snips of the boys making friends with the other new military trainees. Seeing the incredible relationship they have with Headmaster Dave is amazing. I have never had a teacher like that. What a wonderful thing for them to be able to share.

Headmaster Smith was such a beautiful and necessary addition to this series. He was a huge part in guiding and being with these wonderful boys until they turned into young men. You can tell how much these young men love, appreciate and revere Headmaster Smith. You can also see how much Headmaster Smith loves, cares about and is there for his students.
This made me cry and I'm so beyond happy and grateful for all of you.

It makes me cry happy tears at 4:12 when Ollie tells Headmaster Dave about how they all decided to write a letter to have Headmaster Dave be there with them, and that look and his face when Josh asks him "Does that surprise you?" my heart swelled with warmth right there! That man has made a positive impact on those young men in the best way and that just makes me feel good that having Headmaster Dave there would be a good confidence boost to those young men. okay some edit. after watching the whole ep i could tell Mr Smith is genuinely a good teacher (& headmaster) he knows what his students' needs and fully support the military service because it will left them a good impact.
Teachers like Mr. Smith are genuine diamonds in the rough man. I cant remember the last time I had a teacher that cares this much to go to military. Thanks to Josh and the team for introducing this absolute gem of a soul.

I love that they brought Dave in for this. His reaction when he was told that the boys asked KE to bring their former headmaster on this trip was touching, you can see how much that meant to him. The students at Fulham are so lucky to have him in their lives.

Its great that even after years of bidding farewell to Fulham, the impact of Mr. Smith in the young men's lives is so evident not only with how much grace they had become into as men but also with the way they actually teamed up to pen that letter and convince the crew to bring him there. It could be for more than one reason but i'm pretty sure one of them is how much support and comfort they get from Mr. Smith's presence alone and how they know deep in their hearts that having him there would really change something with how they will deal with all that they have to go through. It's just so touching to see that even parting ways with their alumni school, they can never leave Mr. Smith in the picture when they do something big as this.

Seeing the clip of the boys interacting with the Korean recruits eased my tension a bit! And this video helped too. The last vid was really intense and I know it’s going to get harder for them, but I feel better seeing that they have good moments too!

@@sungtacklim1560 아니죠 쟤들은 군복무 의무 없는 외국인이잖아요,, 그럼 진짜 쟤들이 2년 복무하는것까지를 바래시나요 ㅎ 그냥 한국이 어떤나라고 거기엔 어떤 역사가 있고 그런 본질을 알아가기만 한다면 충분합니다.. 그리고 저 촬영 이후에 저 친구들이나 이 프로를 보는 외국인들이 한국에 대해 시선을 다시 고쳐가진다면 최고의 시나리오겠죠.. 물론 반응이 혼란스럽긴 하겠죠 이미 다겪은 우리나 앞으로 겪을 한국 어린 친구들이나 저걸 처음 겪는 저 친구들이나.. 불공평함 느끼는 부분도 있긴할거예요 님처럼..저도 어느정도 그렇긴하고
@@sungtacklim1560 어휴~ 나이가 어떻게 되시는지는 모르겠지만, 제가 교련수업받으면서 힘들었고요. 90년대 초 2박 3일 체험 다녀왔는데, 그때가 제일 힘들었습니다.
오히려 구타나 가혹행위가 있다고 알고 나서 훈련소에 입소했던 90년대 말에는 그럭저럭 받을만 했어요. 식판 엎고 길바닥에 너저분한 음식 멍멍 짓으면서 먹으라고 지시한 적도 있고, 뺨 맞고 조인트 까이는 것은 기본이었습니다. 그런데도 지금 생각하면, 고등학생때 훈련받았던 2박 3일이 아무 정보 없이 입소하여서 정신적으로 더 힘들었던 것 같네요.

This was a heartwarming episode. Watching the boys go through their military training is cool and all, but to see the interaction with Ollie, Joel, Grace, and Dave again just brings back that old-school Korean Englishman vibe. Great stuff as usual. The food made my mouth water, too. 😆 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏

Having a great headmaster or year group coordinator seriously makes a difference to students lives and David is a perfect representation of that. So much respect to him.

I like how Dave is a professional in so many ways but he’s also so human and relatable. The boys turned out similarly and us viewers have the pleasure of watching our boys grow…except Dave ain’t growing, he’s a lean machine right now!

This video had me smiling and laughing out loud! I'm an American and I'm loving this series, I'm so glad you decided to make it despite the planning challenges. As a civilian it's nice to get to learn more about our military ally and about what young Korean men experience.

for those who don’t know we in the south in America like to take Coca-Cola and put it in our barbecue sauce. Also, you can pour over a ham while it’s baking in the oven and it starts to turn into a thick syrup and you just keep spooning it back over the ham. But of course, we like to add brown sugar to our Coca-Cola mix. Lots of black pepper. So good.
If so you can try to cook it with chicken wings too. We chinese loves cola chicken wings so much as it is so simple to make😊

Coke has stuff you need for marinating already in it so it makes a good substitute.
In the philippines, we use sprite to substitute lemon since lemon is not that accessible in most rural areas.
