As a North Carolina native, I rather love this.
Having said that, the actual Battle of Cape Fear River in 1718 was a good bit further south from Ocracoke and was off what is now Wilmington. Also, the pirate captain present, and defeated was the gentleman pirate Stede Bonnet (see also: Our Flag Means Death). Blackbeard was operating further north off Delaware and Virginia at the time Bonnet was defeated and captured. Blackbeard's last stand off Ocracoke was a different incident, two months later and roughly 100 miles away, as the ship sails.

@@b.schmidt3701 To be fair, Ocracoke beach & the Cape Fear River are probably a hundred & thirty miles apart, & the video was filmed in Hungary. But we Cape Fear River rats love Blackbeard & Alestorm, so we're not complaining.
I used to paddle up and down the Cape Fear river with my friends in the 4th fucking grade looking for blackbeard's treasure, long before it was confirmed that they found his ship. Old farmers lore.
20 years later as an adult you find out it was real, 15 years later you find out it's real. 25 years later its a funny metal song.
Three songs out and I'm gonna say that I like it more already than their last album. I am okay with their 'party' content, but I'm much more fan of their silly historical side and this album seems to blend both of those styles. And plus side is that album will be released on my birthday :D

@@qualified9309 absolutely phenomenal. I cannot decide which song is my favourite, but I know for sure there are not any weak songs on new album. This is the direction Alestorm should take. And yeah, SROSR is huge improvement COTCC IMO.
@@drgenki6491 yeah, totally agree. For me personally, the last three songs are a bit boring, but the rest of the album is really strong. So, all in all 9/10 from me

As a native North Carolinian who lives just about an hour away from where this song takes place, is this historically accurate? No. Is it awesome? Yes!
Chris said on the Alestorm subreddit that they WERE writing a historically accurate song on Cape Fear River, and then Mike from Gloryhammer a song about Blackbeard (and the lyrics) and gave it to Chris, and this was born and they scrapped the previous version and they just kept the name because "it sounded cool" lol.

The madmen actually wrote captions for the guitar solo.
Blackbeard was very difficult to kill. They shot him repeatedly, stabbed and hacked him repeatedly, and he kept getting back up to fight. Finally they cut off his head to make sure he was dead. He didn't get back up after that.
