- POV of Tomb Blaster, Egyptian themed interactive dark ride at Chessington World of Adventures.
Tomb Blaster was originally a dark ride called 'The Fifth Dimension'., which opened in 1987. Riders were 'shrunk' and entered the wirings of a TV set, where they were guided by an animatronic robot called 'Zappomatic', to help him defeat the Gorgs... (some furry monsters, whatever they were doing there!).
In 1994 the ride was re-themed to 'Terror Tomb', its story following a tomb raider.
Then, in 2002, the ride opened as 'Tomb Blaster', the interactive buttons were replaced with light guns, the tomb raider character 'Adbad' was done away with, along with a great animatronic Egyptian mummy rock band, replaced by generic scenes and the LED targets we see today.

It's amazing to see how much of the original Terror Tomb is still intact!
Really apart from Abdab being removed and a lighting and soundtrack change, it's mostly the same ride.
If I was a rich man I'd pay Chessington all kinds of money to revert it back given how easy it seems.
Loved this ride as a little kid. Mainly because I found the music intense.
As Duel at Alton Towers is currently being refurbished for next season,I think Tomb Blaster as we know it is entering it’s final month. Tomb Blaster’s success was the reason The Haunted House at Alton Towers became Duel The Haunted House Strikes Back. Many of the effects within Tomb Blaster need TLC. For the 2020 Chessington removed some of Tomb Blaster’s targets. I think that this coming closed season will see a radical refurbishment for Tomb Blaster. I wouldn’t be surprised if this refurbishment includes the complete removal of the guns. The Forbidden Tomb sign is hidden under the Tomb Blaster sign. Chessington could easily remove the Tomb Blaster sign. I hope this happens. The removal of guns and repair of broken Theming would enhance the ride. I’d love these changes as well as the return of the Forbidden Tomb name to be implemented.
You are incorrect I am afraid. It remains this season in the same format.
Can't see them going back to the older name as they attempted to make the ride more family friendly with Tomb Blaster.
Terror Tomb was so brilliant...I remember jumping on this for the first and being so...disappointed...
Everyone here's talking about Terror Tomb being superior, but all I can hear in my head is "There's a Gorg in here!!"

When I went into this ride I was maybe 6 or 5 and I was scared to go on it. But now I want to go on it mainly for nostalgia's sake
Think about it, the creative minds got together and had a meeting regarding the future of the Terror Tomb ride actually and said "You know what? Replace Terror Tomb with this great idea that I have" and this was the result. Disappointing to say the least.
Terror Tomb was an experience. This seems so bright and happy in comparison
I used to go here with my dad when I was 9 - 13 I'm 14 now and I feel like it would be embarrassing for some reason even though i miss it and miss having times like that with my dad.

I went on this ride and it was fun and awesome
They really fucked up this ride I remember when it was a challenge to shoot the lasers, when it was extremely dark and when the mummys at the end made you shit ur self

I get they needed to change the ride, and while I admit losing Abdab is bad... couldn’t they have at least kept Jukebox Jewel? I mean that was the best part of the entire ride...
This scared the living hell out of me when I was a kid.
It’s a sad sign when the queue is the best part of this ride.

What is this? This is terrible. Where's Abdad? the low lighting? the scary atmosphere? the knives that used to fling across the room? THE METAL MUSIC NUMBER AT THE END!?! Absolute rubbish.

Queued for 20mins , didn’t move so left.
My mum dragged me on this ride when I was about 5 and I absolutely hated it! For the rest of day, I didn't want to go on anything else as I thought every queue was going to be a queue for this ride. I was petrified 😂

Chloe's Travel's Same 😂I was about 5 or 6 and I screamed and accidentally punched my dad in the face because I was so scared. I personally think this was scarier than Hocus Pocus Hall for me when I was that age.
Hey Its Madz yeah same I absolutely hated it. I refused to go in Hocus Pocus Hall after the first time because I was petrified of it!

How do those scarrab targets work, are they powered? That's a lot of wiring and damage to the awesome Terror Tomb :(

Damn, I love Tomb Blaster, If your Taken away from your console and you like FPS games This Is recommended for You, Seriously I was on it today and It was Kind of Empty so I got The Extreme Ride I when around the ride twice, Because The ride was That empty, Sadly Kobra, Dragons fury, and Dragons, Fall's Broke down Due To Stupid school Kids That can't be trusted without a teacher, Kobra was Closed All day, Dragons fury was fixed, so was Dragon Fall's, I'm Glad That vampire was not broken By stupid school kids ( No Offence to Other school Kids That Read This)
Chessington have been poor for ride breakdowns *a lot* this past few years... :/
Livestream Gamer I'm in year 6 and I'm going to Chessington tomorrow I think they close to visitors if schools are visiting but tough luck I guess. I'm not going to break the rides by messing around I just want to enjoy the ride
