Thanks for your comment! Yes, It's important to surround ourselves with supportive people. Understanding that we have control over how we respond (ie leave them) can be empowering and lead to healthier relationships. It's not always easy, but it can make a big difference. 🙏

When my best friend broke up with me one of the things she told me was that I am responsible for my own feelings, yet she also held me responsible for me hurting her feelings. I was so confused and distraught

I'm really sorry to hear about your experience. It's incredibly confusing and painful when someone you care about sends mixed messages like that. Remember, what other people say and do says more about them than it does about you. I hope you have gone on to find a better friend🙏

Thank you! Greetings from Australia! My family is originally from Finland, so it's wonderful to connect with someone from Sweden. Hope you're having a great day! 🇦🇺🇫🇮

The line I was fed was. “I’m not responsible for your feelings, you are. So if you leave me over how I make you feel, that’s selfish and won’t work because you’ll still be stuck with the source of your negative emotions… you”

Sounds very manipulative to me. I'm really sorry to hear that you went through such a difficult experience. It's incredibly painful when someone you care about dismisses your feelings in that way. It's so important for those around us to treat us with kindness and respect. If someone's actions consistently hurt you, it's entirely valid to prioritize your well-being and seek healthier relationships. You deserve to be in a space where your feelings are acknowledged and valued.
