I find that weight changes cause me much more trouble than color and pattern choices. 🤪😘🥰

My advice: invest in wrap style dresses that are knee length, midi or maxi depending on your height. They are flexible and can conform to your weight changes.

Me too. Someone recommended to only keep or buy clothes that can accommodate the weight fluctuations. It’s hard to let go of expensive too tight things though that I used to look extremely good in. 😭
I just donated a large amount of my clothes and now I see I have grays, black and white.

Good advice. I love color, but with clothes, it's a lot easier to mix and match neutrals. So I've bought some colorful bags, shoes and scarves for a pop of color (using only one bright color at a time). Almost any bright color goes with neutrals!

Yes, I’m so tired of seeing influencers promote $500 handbags and $200 pants and shirts. I COULD spend it, but come on, I know there’s lovely pieces at Banana Republic, Quince and other places.
I’ve had to switch out my wardrobe when I transitioned to my natural silver hair. I cant’ wear khaki, beige or pastels anymore because I look washed out with my warm skin tone. Now I have to incorporate rich jewel tones like red, and fushia and bring some color to my upper body. I’m trying desperately to cull my closet and just have the pieces I love.

@womanatthewell9603💗 I agree. Going with natural silver/gray hair changed the colors/clothes I wear near my face, as well as how I do my makeup. I do better with a pop of jewel tones here and there, but still love dear Frederique's palette of neutrals. 💗

I'm a painter and I love colours, but for me I love to wear black, white, beige, khaki, and navy with a touch of colour, like a scarve, necklace etc...
My real issue is that I need two very different wardrobes: one for work (white, black, light blue and burgundy) and then there's my regular clothes. I get tired of wearing black every day due to work so for my regular wardrobe I like khaki, white, light pink, butter yellow, olive and green. I do wear black or red in my every day life but I hate it because I end up wearing it due to work. On top of all that I need two different wardrobe due to the two seasons here in LA blazing heat and autumn/winter.😅
Since I started to choose clothes for myself I always choose black. I’m buy and wearing black only, everyone get used to it. Few times someone “forced “ to buy other colors telling me it suits me and my skin tone and will look good with black but those pieces always ended donated. Simple, classy and so easy to do laundry 😊

My color choices are very much the same as yours, except I also love dark burgundy and a very pale (almost white) pink. They both go well with navy, black, white, ivory, grey, and beige or khaki.

Frederique! I love this video! I gravitate towards the same colors that you do. But sometimes I'll buy like a print top, but then I never wear it. I'm most comfortable in classic solids. And it was so nice to hear that someone else doesn't feel comfortable in bright colors! I thought something was wrong with me, lol. For dressing up, I have always had several black skirts in different fabrics.
I like a white shirt or a cream one but not black. It is a draining colour on me.
Same here. I have very little in black because it does not make me happy or feel like me. My wardrobe is color saturation station! And because everything is in the same bright hue, I can color block endless outfits and they all 'go". Neutrals work for a lot of people but I'm not one of them
This week gradually transitioned my wardrobe from Spring/Summer to Autumn/Winter. Here in the UK (no surprise, but) the weather can't make up it's mind. So I'm commuting to work in Autumn, and coming home in late Summer -_-. However, my main wardrobe colours are black, grey, navy, camel, terracotta and earthy greens. I ADORE Autumn and the colours of it (I was born 30th Oct), and I feel very much at peace in earthy colours and textures that invite touch. I once thought I could shake things up a bit by wearing a grass green cardigan. WHAT ON EARTH was I thinking?! XDD The colour was far too bold for my personality = la poubelle. I feel like my colour palette is very much me, with a few vintage-inspired pieces ('30s &'40s) here and there - especially in jewellery :) [End of monologue, lmao]
Cream, pale grey, cream with small patterns (brown, cranberry,) jeans (of course!) pale blue, all kinds of brown (chocolate, sand, khaki, etc.) I too love color but I can not wear it! These are the clothes that stay on the hanger. Fabrics: linen, cotton, wool (cashmere), denim. I like to vary shapes more than colors, and I love to change accessories. A scarf is such a good idea (I would have thought of it before, but it is very French!) And I love your emphasis on comfort. If it isn’t comfortable in the store, it will never be comfortable at home!
I wear pink, always have. I have been called Pinky I wore pink so much. I am middle aged now so I usually tone it down to just a pink top. But, I must confess I just bought 2 pairs of pink sandals!

I love colors. I wear color. But all my color clothes are in a tinted version of each color. So, they all go well together. Others could do all muted colors, or all saturated version of each color, etc. My neutrals are chocolate brown, bright navy and winter white.

When I go shopping, I only buy pieces that I can mix and match with at least two things I already own. I like a bit of colour, but I keep to two basics and three colours, that I can even wear together. My accessoires are all the same two colours however, so if I wear two colourful pieces, the accessories calm the outfit down.

I'm the type that likes to wear a lot of different colors; mostly blue, purple, and pink, but I also love black and white. Any strong, vibrant color makes me happy! :)

True. In my 30s now I changed so much from showing skin to now modest, classic style. I like more to cover up. Simple shirt that covers shoulders (even though I am 45 kg) paired with business pants and nice shoes is a win for me.
I have a black wardrobe and a brown wardrobe. All the clothes in the black wardrobe tone with black and the clothes in the brown wardrobe are mainly Autumnal. No matter how much I love something I have trained myself only to buy what goes with my basics. In Summer I live in jeans and t shirts and here I can go mad with colour because t shirts are comparatively cheap. I also have cotton trousers in cool toned colours. By September I'm back in Khaki, Russet, green etc. But I'd add watch your weight. I don't mean diet or try to be skinny. Just settle on the weight you can maintain easily and buy that size. If you see yourself creeping up cut back. Going down is easier as you can get clothes tailored, but it's expensive so I prefer to maintain a specific weight.

Colourful is one of my words to describe my style. I was into Dopamine Dressing way before I ever heard of it. I love prints too. I also have lots of neutrals, love classics and vintage so I guess I'm a mix it up kinda girl depending on my mood. Not all in one outfit, of course!

I love color! I have yellow, pink, royal blue, green...Im.almost always wearing a colorful top and neutral on the bottom ❤
I have very little contrast between my skin and hair (mousy). I wear neutrals and muted versions of bright colors. I disappear in bold, bright colors. I once wore a bright dress and I literally could not find myself in the mirror. Apparently, paint companies put a dash of gray into bright colors to mute them. To a certain extent, you can wear clashing colors as long as they're muted. The main caveat that this will not look good with people with a lot of contrast in their features,

Aloha Frederique! Love your channel and content. Living in Hawaii like you, we don't have four seasons. It is so hard not to wear a tank and golf skirt every single day ... rain or shine. It's not stylish but it is comfortable. I call it my uniform, lol. Trying to class up my wardrobe in my mid-50s is not so easy. Taking your advice to heart, from style to weight to skincare to makeup. Just rediscovered makeup after 20 years of only eyeliner and mascara (because of humidity). Love your tip about setting spray on a foundation brush. Thank you for keeping it real.

It's so good to see your videos again. I wondered where you went! I went through a terribly emotionally hard time years ago when I shopped online for my clothes. I got taken in by the presenters and thought the clothes would look as good on me as the models... of course they never did because even the plus sized models were at least five foot nine and up! The materials were often cheap and uncomfortably hot.
I love French dressing, it is timeless and suits all of us in our own unique way. As you say, the basic colors are a must then all we need is a splash of color with a scarf or a belt, bags or shoes. We as Women need to have an honest look at our bodies and wear the basics accordingly.. whether it is in fashion or not. I used to buy clothes on a whim, for fashion, but we don't need to be head to toe in the right fashion. We should create our own and wait for the compliments. Thank you.

We wear leggings which began after a fire when they gave us some free clothes. It's horrible. Today everyoen's staring at me with this new see thru stadium tote bag too.

Fall came in with a vengeance to my part of the US this week. As I go from one season to the next, I’m finding that my colors are about the same. I love the same colors as you plus forest green. I keep to classic pieces and minimal accessories. Love my jeans and love my sneakers. My work look is business casual and I stay away from anything too tight that doesn’t fit me right. I’ve learned so much from watching your videos and from taking the time to really ask myself what it is I really like.
