  • This is by far the most overpriced guitar I’ve ever seen on mine. It’s a funny story and honestly no hate to the guy that posted the listing… It’s just funny. I had to share it. It’s of a fender Stratocaster that’s about $59,000 overpriced.

Great video, Kennis. I enjoyed it. Great job making light of this. I have a few early70’s P basses. One is a 75 that I purchased new in January of 1976. My players are a modified Squire P bass. The other is a 2000 MIM jazz bass… It’s all about what feels good.

I've had those same ones in new condition with the stickers from 2001 and sold for 1500 Canadian. They are actually really nice from that time. I am keeping a 2002 standard in Olympic white as my main and possibly only personal Strat.

You see this all the time on eBay. They are hoping for either a sucker who has no idea what they are buying to come along and think it is some Collector's Item, or they are hoping someone is not paying attention and buys it by accident because they misread the price. It's a scam listing trying to pray on buyers. This is a prime example of why more people are growing distrusting of online auction sites. Between the scammers and the scalpers it's hard to weed out the garbage from the legit good deals.

Yeah, I knew someone who listed a Martin for about triple the price. He just figured it wouldn't sell. He got an offer that wasn't his asking price, but was close to double what it should have been.

I think his wife is making him sell it, but he doesn't want it to sell, lol.
Nevermind that, you just said it, haha. New theory: He's actually the dude from Essex Recording Studios Reverb shop.

Oh that American guy in London that bought all the Dave Mustaine guitars from Reverb. Good theory

I like the Fender Rhodes behind you. An era gone by seeing them in bands, but plenty of memories for me playing guitar many years ago in a band that used a Rhodes...

Ask the guy if he would take a trade in and tell him you have it listed for $58,000oh $58,000 for your 19 99 telecaster

I overpaid for a synth this week in way south Houston. It was on Facebook marketplace and The Guy didn’t want to sell it even though he listed it at a premium. I had to throw in another 350 dollar synth in as a trade on top of paying asking price to convince him to sell it. I still saved about 5 to 700 vs buying new but still. People are funny about selling there stuff sometimes. Plus i think he was scared for some reason, even after the money transfer confirmed. It’s strange for sure but not all that uncommon. Just see some crazy ebay listings as examples. I do agree the guys replies were hilarious though! Thanks for posting. Entertaining story for sure.

Nothing is overpriced if someone is willing to pay the price. Everything is negotiable. I walk past (or surf past) hundreds of things a week that I think are priced too high, (Stewmac comes to mind) but someone is paying those prices. Is a Van Gogh worth a hundred million dollars? Not to me. But to someone.

You are right. Everything is worth what they are willing to pay.

Hoping for a sucker to buy it, or doesn't want to sell it. I would pay that for "The Black Strat" but not that Strat.

I can, get you a brand new grey(? whatever that color is called? Pewter?) EC Strat from before that for WAYYYYYYY less. $3500. I think it's a 98? An 88? Something like that. Brand new still in the box. Never been played.

Ibanez AW-100 goes for about 300$ (used for 160$), so 10 guitars for 3000$ Nothing personal, just a business :)

I'll insult the guy, he's deranged! lol
Even the Bruno Mars stratocaster for $3,000 is deranged to me. I get it if money is no object, but I'd rather buy 10 $300 guitars instead.

Used to play Elder scrolls online (Rpg online Video game) ppl would do this as well , when selling items u find in game...logic was for lazy fat cats who couldnt be bothered shopping around or would buy the item out of impulse or clueless to the real value.. i think this seller is using the same strat * no pun intended * haha

How about this.. Maybe the guy has serious health issues and cannot afford the cost , so he’s reaching out hoping somebody will buy it for whatever there reasons.

How about this: If the seller was trying to get rid of it to pay medical bills would it not be easier and quicker to say that up front knowing that someone would see that ad with “Need to sell due to devastating illness” or something similar? It sounds more like good old fashioned ad trolling or like Ken said, probably his significant other made him put it up for sale and he didn’t really want to do it. But… who knows really… could be anything. I personally love the ad… it’s pretty awesome if it’s a troll ad.
